get rid of it. The freezer draws have completely disintegrated and constantly drop everything on the floor every time It’s opened. Perhaps an example of the lowest cost cheap plastic materials and fittings that seem to be used throughout. I’m really not the type of person to make a report like this on anything but given a fridge is meant to be long lasting, reliable and durable given its use profile and given this one has really annoyed me from so early on I feel it’s worth letting people know my experience so they don’t make the same mistake

by another customer: started beeping in the evening, freezer control lights flashing, but I could not find any reason, so switched it off and then switched on after a few minutes. It then refused to freeze, but instead, it heated the fridge. I expected at least a 10-year lifespan, especially since my last Westinghouse lasted much longer. Westinghouse really needs to lift their game. After looking into the experiences of others, I think it’s not worth the effort to get it repaired. I've contacted their service team but have already decided to buy a replacement. This brand and its siblings are off my shopping list.

Good product but could be improved on – Pros: - silent operation - great size/space - looks great Cons: - no door open beep - door doesn't "fall" closed on its own, making door open beep… Read more

all the more important - can't seem to get it level/stable, so it makes a lot of creaking noises when opening and closing the door (feels flimsy) - outside gets marked/dirty easily

I really wanted to love this fridge - replaced a 10+ year old Fisher and Paykel of similar size. But the old unit was more solid feeling and had the door open warning beep.

The lack of a warning beep and the fact it catches and doesn't easily close automatically, means this fridge is not great for families with children.

No big issues but – January 2022, our 4 1/2-star side-by-side fridge had to be replaced as the fridge-side door had warped. We purchased this Hisense 6-star fridge in… Read more

black and have a three issues with its design. 1. The freezer has no light. This is a very minor issue for us. 2. The fridge door has to be opened almost fully to allow access to the crisper. And this door and the freezer door are very wide. Again a very minor issue. 3. The back of the interior of the fridge is not flat. I guess to allow airflow throughout. However, this ridge down the centre of the back of thee fridge acts as a pivot point for the glass shelving. On more than one occassion we have found one shelf to be only just sitting on the little bracket on one side. The shelf could have fallen onto the shelf below and we would have had a big mess inside the fridge. I have fixed it by putting a number of self-adhesive wedges (Bunnings have them for around $5) around the interior so the shelf cannot twist as much. All Hisense need to do to prevent shelves falling is make the brackets jut out more, cut the glass shelves a bit wider or make the back corners more rounded to lessen the pivoting. Other reviewers comment about noise but we haven't had that issue. Others comment about the basic fit-out inside. Yes, that's true but we bought some containers designed for fridges from K-Mart to organise things how we want. So the basic fit-out has become an advantage

able to finally keep fruit and vegetables without needing to toss them the following week. It is very spacious and the layout is well-designed. Setting the temperature is done via a dial in the back of the fridge section, which feels a little bit old-school. Initially, this was to be a backup fridge as our large fridge had some serious problems with fluctuating temperatures, but this Mitsubishi fridge is perfect—providing consistent, stable temperatures.

Cannot get service person on weekend, hard enough through week as he doesnt respond to calls or texts!! in my home I have Westinghouse and Fisher & Paykal much older appliances and never missed a beat. ADVICE : Highly advise to steer clear of Beko appliances, Spend a couple hundred more and get a reliable brand. $420 is a lot to fork out when on disability pension. Service person advises that fridge may need a new "main circuit", not sure what that will cost for that part. He has offered to waive his labour costs to install this. .

with regards to interior lighting and temperature consistency. An issue is that the top mount door needs to be manually closed on occassion because it doesn't like to self close unless from a fully open postion (we don't like it slamming shut all the time as it is heavy enough that it tends to pop open the freezer door momentarliy (which is stated as normal in the intruction manual)). Freezer compartment is well designed. Controls are straightfoward and you don't need any online or AI gimmicks to get it working as per your own preferences (which are basic). Is OK on power as we have not seen any power spikes after changeover from previous fridge.

2 people, I store soup, veges, a.whole bag of ice in summer and rubbish at the bottom. The rotating ice tray is handy. Extendable fridge shelf is useful. Water Dispenser: In summer we add half ice on top of the water and then have blizzardly cold water to drink. (Ice first may block the dispenser). Cons: only a couple and fairly minor. The water box gets dirty quick so I wash it out with hot water every couple weeks. Possibly due to commercial ice as we use filtered clean water. The dispenser will drip to the floor if you take the glass/bottle away too soon. Just a habit I had to learn. Noise: I don't think it's noticeable at all. The inside does seem to have a gentle hum. But hey, it's inverted ... it won't be silent. The motor is on the top of fridge so will be more noticeable by tall people with good hearing.

in a cupboard, and attaching a front panel reduces the ventilation, and apparently can reduce its life by a third. As such, like us you could arrive at a decision point (probably with a kitchen designer) to a bit if money knowing you'll need to replace the built in fridge in a few years, or fork out a fair amount of money and go truly integrated.

Miele are a trusted brand, are built solid, and do their thing. Ours is vented through the toe key CK, up the back of the fridge, and out through the ceiling. Built in, it looks great.

The cons are:

1. The fridge is smaller than similar models, as it needs a bit of clearance for being built in.

2. The top shelf has the fan unit sticking out. Not a problem, but it does mean you have to avoid putting things like jam in front of it otherwise it gets frozen.

3. The biggest issue is the freezer. The drawers are small, and aren't on telescopic runners so fall out if pulled out too far.

The pros are:

1. The fridge is like a Tardis.with supermarkets everywhere, I really don't see any need for a larger fridge.

2. Build quality, the hinges are super solid.

3. The shelfs have a light bucket in which lights up the fridge really well.

It does seem a lot quieter than the f&p we had. No more clunks or rattles.

How am I supposed to manage without a fridge for nearly two weeks? This is unacceptable service. A fridge should be able to handle temporary power outages, and even if issues occur, support should be much faster. I’m incredibly frustrated and would not recommend Haier if this is the level of reliability and customer care they provide.

interior rear wall. Gets so serious over a year or so that the draw cannot close, the distributor did not want to replace the unit just keep fixing it until the warranty ran out. Thankfully the retailer Winnings Group have come to the rescue and arranged with the Australian distributor Andico to replace the faulty appliance. Honestly wouldn't risk buying a major appliance any where else but Winnings/Appliances Online. Regardless of the fault would purchase Liebherr refrigeration again in the future.

This is our second large Liebherr fridge/freezer in 7 years, the first (also reviewed) which was sold with our property. This model has some improvements over the french door model we had, cleaning the dust filter at floor level is much easier, motor noise is quieter and a new extended 5 year w/tee! These fridges seem great value compared to a very similar German and USA luxury appliance manufacturer. Personally I would not buy any other refrigerator. Absolutely love these, they perform well and look great. Overall highly recommend these appliances.

Hi Christopher, Sorry to hear the crisper is… Read more

bottom mount fridge

Pros and cons of buying a bottom mount fridge

Convenient for those who require easy eye-level access to their fridge
Fruit and vegetable crisper, which traditionally sits at the bottom of a fridge, is kept at a higher, easy-to-reach level
Ideal for those who mainly use their fridge to store fresh food
Capacity caters to a variety of households whether it’s a couple or a family of 5+

Reaching the freezer requires bending and crouching, which may not be suitable for the elderly
Not much space for storing frozen foods - may only be able to store a few items depending on how large they are
More expensive and less energy efficient than other types of fridges

How many years does a refrigerator usually last?

Depending on the brand you buy and how much you spend, a bottom mount fridge should last around 10 to 20 years. A high end fridge will most likely last up to 20 years.

Is it worth replacing the compressor on a refrigerator?

If the compressor on your refrigerator breaks or malfunctions soon after purchasing your new fridge, then it’s wise to contact the manufacturer or store that you bought the item from and seek out a repair.

Otherwise, if you’ve owned for your fridge for a long period of time, such as 10+ years, and your fridge is past warranty, then it might be best to invest in a new fridge - as the costs of replacing may potentially be close to the cost of buying a new one anyway.

How much is a bottom mount fridge?

Bottom mount fridges cost anywhere from around $800 to $19,000. This price range is significantly more expensive than top mount fridges (which range from $400 to $6000).

Why are bottom mount refrigerators more expensive?

Typically, bottom mount fridges are less energy efficient than other fridges such as top mount fridges. This is because the compressor at the bottom rear of the fridge next to the freezer means more energy is required to keep the freezer cool, meaning that bottom mount fridges have both an exorbitant upfront cost as well as ongoing costs.

Extra features to make life easier

  • Top mount fridge with a water dispenser: for making cool and refreshing drinks on hot summer days
  • 'Smart' functions: top mount smart fridges boast more advanced features than the basic top mount fridge, such as auto temperature control, and a technologically advanced vegetable and fruit crisper compartment
  • Frost free: reduces the amount of mildew and odours

Conclusion

Overall, although bottom mount fridges are convenient and offer useful features, they are pricey. However, they are worthwhile investments if your priority is being able to own a fridge with easy access to the fridge section.
