road.
Pricey but you get what you pay for. Sound is amazing. Controls are simple and easy to use. Loads of inputs available.
It looks like an older style unit. Thieves would normally go for more flash-looking units. Lacks some software to deal with lossless compression music from CD/DVD's. No USB input.
Clarion Head unit VX406AU piece of crap – Really, after months of dealing with the seller and Clarion I am done with cheap hardware running old dysfunctional software. I wanted to listen to… Read more
USB stick music and after 2-3 songs without a touch the hole unit froze, had to be restarted. Happened every time, used a 64GB SanDisk. I wanted to display the rear camera view, but couldn't change the angle. Only one setting for camera view, 'sound on/off. I wanted to listen to Bluetooth music from Iphone. Ones connection established I couldn't start music from the head unit, only from Iphone. Half a minute later the head unit control became available. The remote is cheap, the manual control difficult to handle when driving. You push ones but get double feedback, fields are too close to each other. Also it was not possible to listen to a complete folder of music, only one folder/album can be chosen. Sound is bad. I now run a Fusion MS-RA70 and be surprised that not the speakers were the problem. Firmware upgrade brought no change. Sending it to the seller/ forwarding to Clarion brought no change. They did a firmware upgrade not mentioning it, just said, no faults detected.
When I received the stereo back Clarion informed they did an upgrade for SIRI support!
Clarion accepted to take it back and refunded.
This is just an older model but I am quite confident that all other Clarion models have the same level of quality and support.
Don't Buy – This stereo is so dysfunctional. I think they have used a program with what appears to be for another head unit. In the settings it shows there is… Read more
two usb ports (This is also stated in the stereo manual) however there is only one. Every time you connect your phone the radio cuts out and the same can be said if you go into any of the apps in apple car play. The stereo has very limited functions to your existing steering wheel controls.
