had my eye on the ‘bold black’ DeLonghi Eclettica. It’s elegant, functional and a reliable brand. There’s a frilly mesh circle that can be attached to the base that I don’t think is necessary. Some of the known brands I grew up with aren’t as good as they once were, so confidence in a brand is important. In the end, guilt saved me, the landfill and my old kettle. behind the handle and does not show any measurements. It also requires a great deal of water to operate. When the water level falls to a level at which it is advised by the instructions that it should be refilled there is still a lot of water left. This is therefore environmentally unfriendly as you are heating much more water than you need. The instructions also advise against pouring out the water at too steep an angle! This is to avoid getting water in the element. This means that you can't empty the kettle. Another quibble is that it doesn't easily seat itself on the base plate and requires a bit of fiddling. The kettle is solid and appears to be of good quality. It is heavy with so much water in it.
