maintenance (with an additional backup). Being the lowest cost heat pump in this capacity range is just a bonus, not the key criterion.

Noise is acceptable out of the box, but I did change the settings to reduce fan speed and now it's barely audible.

Some feedback for improvement: - WiFi is tricky to reset if you change network name or it failed to connect the first time. I'm sure their support would help if contacted, but this procedure should really be added to the manual. Someone posted a video via Whirlpool that showed how to do it. - My unit arrived with a small cosmetic dent where the power plug was pressed against the unit in shipping, the factory packaging design / QC may need a look. My installer handled this well, brought it to my attention proactively and offered to either arrange a replacement unit, or to knock a bit off the cost on the spot.

Installed by Hotwater.com.au. Great experience with them, good communication.

I cannot really overstate just how poorly this product has performed since we purchased it around 3 years ago. Here in S.E Queensland, throughout… Read more

most of the year when its above 30deg it works ok. Not that you really need much hot water during those 6 months of the year. Around mid may every single year. Every morning I hear "There is no hot water again". Every night "There is no hot water again" From my wife and two young kids.

For all the emails and phone calls I have made to try and rectify the problem. The only attempt to do so was to send a plumber out to reset some thermostatic something or rather in the software which did nothing at all.

The only way I have to ensure there is any hot water, is to go out twice a day and make sure it is forced into the on position in either hybrid or hybrid 1 mode.

The 15 year old Saxon this unit replaced probably didnt even get looked at twice in 15 years. Yet here I am baby sitting this POS appliance twice every single day to ensure the missus and kids can have a hot shower when they want one.

All these pics are after the system has run all day long consuming between 6-10kw/h. Considering the old system used around 9kwh per day and we were told this new system would be around 2.5kwh.....

The company that did the installation did a stellar job I might add, Could not fault their workmanship and they tried to assist as much as they could when we started having issues. But Im not going to continue wasting their time trying to rectify an issue with the product itself. The only real option we have going forward is to move to an IStore or go back to a traditional HWS.

I couldn't be happier with our new Reclaim 315L duplex stainless heat pump system. The design is exceptionally well thought out, but the real… Read more

standout is its efficiency. The unit draws very little power and runs incredibly quietly.

Thanks to the strong thermal insulation and excellent temperature layering properties inside the tank, the water stays piping hot right through to the next day. This makes it the absolute perfect match for a solar power setup—it just quietly heats up during the day using our own generated power and holds that heat effortlessly overnight.

Having the WiFi connectivity and the app to monitor exactly what is happening with the system is a really nice bonus, too. If you are looking for an incredibly efficient, well-engineered hot water heat pump, I highly recommend Reclaim. Five stars!

We replaced our old electric hot water system with an Aether heat pump hot water unit and the difference has been noticeable almost straight away.… Read more

The biggest thing for us has been the reduction in power usage, it’s been good seeing lower running costs without sacrificing hot water.

The unit heats water consistently and we haven’t run out, even with multiple showers and appliances going. It’s also much quieter than I expected after reading about some other heat pump systems. You can hear it running outside, but it’s definitely not intrusive.

Overall, really happy with the purchase so far. If reliability holds up long term, I’d happily recommend it to anyone looking to move away from a traditional gas hot water system.

which Rheem don't seem to manage well. On mine the welding on the heater flange is VERY poor, causing it to fail and leak just on the 7 year warranty (I don't think 7 years is awesome for a tank with wires connected to it - I've had gas ones that have done 4 times that). So it's not inherently terrible - if you get one that was made by the good welder it would be great, but how would you know?

Australian environment. This unit has failed twice - the first within the warranty period (a faulty seal and heating element) and the second just outside (but still covered by consumer law) being a faulty sensor.

The good news is the service department is responsive and they have a local plumber who can get to the unit quickly. But make sure you have those contact details handy. The first time this unit failed, it took three days for my plumber and the plumbing wholesaler to track down how to get repairs under way.

Note that my unit is now five years old. I hope that the current generation has addressed the quality issues.

(that will follow). Ballina Hot Water Specialists were excellent from start to finish. Dane was clearly more concerned about me getting value for money than them making a profit. They made sure they extended the life of my old system as long as they could before replacing it.
