Used penrite hpr30 for years in my 1990s corolla. A few months ago I bought a bottle of the new formula oil. Noticed the bottle was different with a… Read more
different lid and also a new foil deal under the cap. When I broke the seal I noticed that the oil didn't have the usual smell. Did the oil change and immediately noticed that the engine wasn't revving as freely. Checked the dipstick and noticed that the oil was very sticky which seemed odd. Found out later from shop I bought it from that penrite hpr30 has a new formula for high mileage engines. Seems to me like it's just full of cheap butt stop-smoke now. Hilariously it used more oil than the previous old formula oil. Was considering dropping penrite altogether but found 15/50 penrite synthetic on special so gave it a try. Surprisingly very happy, engine not burning a drop of oil now.
They do not know how their products affect the vehicle – Firstly the products are poorly labelled. Their website recommended Multi-vehicle fluid for my car. It did not highlight that there are 3 different… Read more
types and these types are not prominent on the label.
After using the wrong oil, I contacted Penrite to find out the differences and how these differences impacted my transmission. It is very worrying that they did not know the differences or the effect of various components in the oil. I friend told me that Penrite simply purchase other brands of oil and simply duplicate it without knowing what the various components do. I do not know whether this is true or not. However, their responses to simple questions raise questions
Penrite technical customer service is apalling – I have been a faithful Penrite customer for years and have always found their technical support to be beyond excellent in the past. For example,… Read more
viscosity at real-world temperatures that actually matter (like an Australian Winter cold start at freezing point) is far more relevant to me than the published figures on their website of - 30 degrees centigrade and 40 degrees centigrade (the former never relevant and the latter temperature too high for the first critical moments during a Winter cold start). So previously, Penrite were more than happy to provide these extra figures (which in turn caused me to change from one of their 0W products to a 5W one as the 5W flowed better at freezing point than the 0W one did). But apparently not so nowadays. A recent query of mine asking the same question for the Ten Tenths 0W-20 oil and several other Penrite oils for comparison, the response received was: "No, this info is not determined.Cheers Penrite Tech Support". And it was CC'd to "All Penrite Tech".
Well if asking such a simple question is too difficult for Penrite then I will go elsewhere. There are plenty of good oil companies around these days but what used to make Penrite stand out in my experience was the whole Australian thing and their previously great customer service. But after a reply like that, CC'd to (apparently) all of their tech people (what, so they can have a laugh at the expense of their customers or something??), then I will be spending my hard earned money elsewhere.
Other oil companies are very transparent and detailed in their technical enquiries and Penrite used to be as well. Not any more apparently if my experience was typical.
Very Good DCT fluid for Ford – I bought this for my 2015 Ford Kuga TDCi transmission fluid change scheduled for the 60k km interval. Leading up to this transmission oil service,… Read more
the operation was getting a little rough. Replacing the fluid with the Penrite DCT made it smooth again. I have done 20k kms since the DCT oil change and the transmission is faultless. My honest opinion is that Any car with Dual Clutch should have their oil replaced at 45k kms, which is 1 service sooner if it is driven a lot in traffic. At 60k, the oil was solid black (not even a little bit see through), hence why I suppose my shifts were getting rough at around 55k kms.
My conclusion is that Penrite DCT was value for money and well suited for my car.
I have a BMW 330D with 300,000ksm, I’ve been using Penrite C3 since I owned the car from 110k and the engine is pristine clean, runs like new and drivers perfectly.

Bike had been sitting unused for quite a while from previous owner. With a fuel tank flush, new fuel and Penrite Fully Synthetic 2T, it now runs clean, idles smooth and starts first time. give it some love. The old engine oil was well and truly past its best. I replaced the spark plug and the old oil with Penrite Small Engine 4 Stroke Oil, 600ml later the mower was purring like a kitten. Supporting Aussie companies when I can.

20W-50 is just as good, if not better, than any of these oils. I am only running it in the engine at this time although the specs say it is suitable to use in the Primary and Gearbox. Another bonus is it's much easier to find to purchase as well as being much cheaper than some other brands. I'm impressed with Penrite MC-4ST V TWIN 20W-50 so far, and will happily recommend it to others to give it a go. Support Aussie brands when and where you can.

fill job especially when using a Penrite Little Mate fluid Pump which screws straight to the container. The Pro Gear GL-4 feels smooth through all gear changes. The only criticism is it's only available in a 2.5L option....and of course I needed 2.6L, otherwise a great product purchased from Autobarn during their 40% off Easter sale. Keep supporting Aussie companies.

Penrite Little Mate transfer pump. I needed 3.2L so the 4L bottle was perfect. It is Suitable for hypoid differentials, manual gearboxes, and limited-slip differentials (LSD), often eliminating the need for extra additives. Overall a great Premium Mineral Oil 80W-90 weight i will use again and recommend.
