Excellent motor oil – I use Valvoline Engine Armour motor oil regularly, and I find it to be excellent - engine runs smooth, quiet at start up, and stays in-spec for a… Read more

long time.

Use the 10w-30 in a Corolla, and 15w-40 in an older Commodore. Both are high quality products. Better than the Magnatec I used to use.

10w-30 is also the cheapest GF-5 economy spec motor oil around.

in the line up are known as sludge machines, so this was the perfect candidate to use this oil & find out what truely happens. So the service was done on September 20th. So far to date, the engine has been running on this oil for 9,020kms. First service was done at 8,020kms & in this time, oil filters were changed at 1,000, 2,500 & 5,000kms. The oil was getting darker from the get go but the engine was also picking up smoothness, quietness & responsiveness which was fantastic. First pic is filter after 1,000kms, second is the thick black gunk from the filter, third is filter at 2,500kms, fourth is oil filter housing at 5,000kms (nasty) & fifth is putting through 15 micron filter bag & sixth is through a 0.5 micron filter bag. If you go down this path, awesome, but be smart in the process. Change/drain oil at 7,500kms or 10,000kms or somewhere in between. Do not waste your time, your money & the oils high cleaning abilities by changing it way way too quick like many others do & change after 500kms or 1,000kms, its just pointless & st^pid! You gain nothing by doing this. By all means, change the filters but leave the oil. Give the engine some high speed & high heat driving & the oil will get to work on the cleaning efficiency. Every engine benefits from this oil, all V engines, straight/inline engines as well as the Subaru horizontal engines.
