and water runs cold. We barely have any cold water running through as water would be freezing cold. Clearly they have a big problem with this unit wish I had read reviews before purchasing. I called Rheem to lodge a complaint and they wanted me to pay 274.00 just for call out. Then parts if required, I asked the consultant if she would be happy to pay $1,500 for a product that only lasted three years and of course the line went quite. Do yourself a favour and do not purchase this product.

after 4½ years of light use (I live alone) the compressor failed. Given the happy chappy on the Quantum website with his 20-year-old unit, I wasn't impressed, and Quantum initially responded to my complaint about the 2-year warranty by encouraging me to send in a list of required details for consideration. But with no hot water I had to get the compressor replaced pronto, at half as much again as the unit originally cost, after which Quantum stopped responding. I now realize that I will never recoup through the lower running costs the extra capital cost of their unit over a simple immersion heater, not having taken into account the equipment failing. I would never deal with Quantum again after this experience.

I had to do this operation 4 times between the 25/09/205 and the 30/09/2025 to get hot water again. Unfortunately, to day the 30/09/2025, the Rheem did not start again, and I have not hot water, in a middle of a shower. I am VERY DISAPPOINTED with this product ! I am waiting for the visit of the plumber today (30/09/2025) to fix it to be able FINALLY to have a full shower.
Bosch Pilot Ignition
Recently, our 18 year old bosch 10P failed - there was a leak from the heat exchanger. It was spraying water. Apparently, it's not worth replacing… Read more
the heat exchanger - $650 for the part alone. The installer recommended Bosch 10H - it has no pilot light. In order to ignite, you turn on the tap which will automagically ignite and heat the water. Unfortunately, we find it hard to get the temperature desired. Also, we find 10H takes longer maybe 10-20s longer (but it felt like eternity) than 10P. The installer replaced the brand new 10H with a brand new 10P at no charge - bless their heart. 10P is the right choice for us even with pilot light on constantly.
Worked for a week stopped i fixed works great standard sort of water heater i think they're good

The unit takes way too long to wake up. Hence the money you save on gas storage costs will be spent on water wastage bills.
Ridiculous cost for what it is, obviously marked up according to the "savings" that you are supposed to be banking on gas. Well, let's see how long the thing lasts - it will need to see out the warranty and then some to get the dollars back.
Needs a powerpoint installed - extra $$$...
The biggest gripe is that the unit is simply not fit for purpose. Their claim is that the unit complies with the Australian standard, not exceeding 50 degrees so they set it to 48! I understand this is possibly to allow for ambient variation, but you have got to be kidding me. 48 degrees gives me 47 at the first outlet, about 43 at the last outlet. Our last storage heater gave very nice (50 degree tempered) water at the first outlet and believe me that 3 degrees makes a big difference...
Thermann C7 Continuous Flow
Unreliable and Costly – Constant Issues with the C7 Thermal – We have had constant issues with this unit. After spending approximately $7,000 replacing taps, aerators, pipes, and a regulator to rule out other… Read more
causes, the problem remains unresolved. The common denominator is the C7 Thermal, which was installed less than three months ago. Which, within the first month required the hot water unit to be replaced. On a brand new unit. Despite this, I have yet to experience a consistent hot shower. The water temperature fluctuates so much that I cannot even rinse my hair before it turns cold.
This has been incredibly frustrating, and I am beyond disappointed. A hot water system should provide reliable hot water, this one does not. I would not recommend this product to anyone.
***Additional Information*** We are on our fourth unit within 6 months. Each dead. Guess what. I contacted the service company and they said there was hard water. The newest one, that lasted longer than the rest is dead. I had a different plumber out. He said it made no sense. He said the filter has no sediment or evidence of hard water. There is no evidence of hard water in the system at all. He then said he couldn't get the pilot light to start. I AM DONE. He is ripping it out next week. We are putting in an all together new system that is in no way related to this company. He also told me that the inconsistent water temp is pretty normal for this unit.
I also forgot to mention, we would turn the tap all the way to hot to let it heat up, then slowly add cold. It didn't help the issue of inconsistent temp. We also had to run the vanity tap at the same time to keep the most consistence of temp. Have I mentioned how aggravated I am about this?

awkward spot making it irreparable. Looking for a way out that wouldn't mean having to rebuild the laundry we had this one installed. Quite apprehensive from all the negative feedback on product review. Many of those reviews describe complaints that show they haven't read the manual. We really like the new unit it performs well produces stable temperature hot water. As the unit uses Hydropower to light the burner, ignition time is slightly longer. Plumbing to kitchen and shower is short so loss of water is minimal. We like our unit. With it's digital technology will give you an error code should there be a problem.

Germany. We went with that and it was installed and turned on a week ago. It is working perfectly just as our technician said it would. Completely automatic and keeps the house temperatures stable at the settings at all times. Could not be happier so far. We will have to wait until next winter to see how efficient the unit is but we were assured it will be much cheaper to run. The only down side was that the new whiz bang thermostat was not available when the unit was installed. But the National Sales Manager promised to “look after us”. I will hold him to it. to relight. A few days later, no hot water again. Plumber came back had a look adjusted something? And said should be all fine. Two days later no hot water. This continues to happen. Plumber contacts Rinnai on my behalf. Rinnai send different plumber out.what I think is the Main gas pressure regulator unit is replaced. A couple of days later no hot water again. happens at least twice more before Another visit, and I think they replaced the same part once more. Well this seems to have solved the pilot light issue. Unfortunately not the amount of water supplied. Plumber said this unit would provide same volume of hot water as the old unit it replaced due to improved heating technology.. 200+ litres an hour heating, @50l a shower you won't run out. (Family of 4) ok why not store less water if it can reheat much faster. Well, maybe that wasn't quite an accurate claim. Water runs out during third shower. Pretty disappointing. Not like you can just decide to go get a bigger one, not cheap throw away item. I don't know if the gas pressure was reduced to solve the pilot issue? As it takes a couple of hours to heat the tank water back up. Bit shy of 209l per hour as per product claims. Granted the water is nice and hot before it runs out. For family of four, this 135l tank does not seem to be up to the task.
Update Nov Rinnai offered replacement. I paid to upgrade size to 175 l..( The diff in price between the 2 sizes was more than if bought through retailer which was surprising) after two weeks of no further contact, I contacted Rinnai for update. Seems my case manager is MIA?? and a new person took over. Well she was very helpful. And I am not being sarcastic. After another couple of weeks [Name Removed] advised me there would be a delay. Appears the burner may have been less than perfect in these units. so there was going to be a delay in supply of tank with the new model burner. It's been a couple of weeks with the new tank all seems to be good. Upgrade rating to 4 stars as the larger tank is working as it should. As far as service goes, Rinnai were good at having the original unit serviced and offering to replace my original unit. Thanks [Name Removed] for cleaning up after the original case manager went MIA.

guest in our house said they we’re having a shower and the water went cold 10-15 seconds after they got in the shower. I later tested it and on the first occasion it worked perfectly. I retested and same again, couldn’t make it fault! So I thought there must have been something else wrong. A few weeks later I was running hot water into a sink then noticed it had gone cold! Turned the water off then back on and it worked fine. I decided to research the model and was not surprised to find that this was a common problem with this heater. It now fails on a regular basis, real sorry that I purchased it, I would not recommend this model to anyone
