Useless we have been putting up with cold water for the past 2 years. It takes ages to heat up and still is not hot. I have cold showers. We had friends stay and they could not believe what we have been putting up with. Show details

Upgraded to the larger unit – Have not had the best experience so far. (3 month old tank) Day two following tank installation, no hot water. The pilot light has gone out. Ok easy… Read more

to relight. A few days later, no hot water again. Plumber came back had a look adjusted something? And said should be all fine. Two days later no hot water. This continues to happen. Plumber contacts Rinnai on my behalf. Rinnai send different plumber out.what I think is the Main gas pressure regulator unit is replaced. A couple of days later no hot water again. happens at least twice more before Another visit, and I think they replaced the same part once more. Well this seems to have solved the pilot light issue. Unfortunately not the amount of water supplied. Plumber said this unit would provide same volume of hot water as the old unit it replaced due to improved heating technology.. 200+ litres an hour heating, @50l a shower you won't run out. (Family of 4) ok why not store less water if it can reheat much faster. Well, maybe that wasn't quite an accurate claim. Water runs out during third shower. Pretty disappointing. Not like you can just decide to go get a bigger one, not cheap throw away item. I don't know if the gas pressure was reduced to solve the pilot issue? As it takes a couple of hours to heat the tank water back up. Bit shy of 209l per hour as per product claims. Granted the water is nice and hot before it runs out. For family of four, this 135l tank does not seem to be up to the task.

Update Nov Rinnai offered replacement. I paid to upgrade size to 175 l..( The diff in price between the 2 sizes was more than if bought through retailer which was surprising) after two weeks of no further contact, I contacted Rinnai for update. Seems my case manager is MIA?? and a new person took over. Well she was very helpful. And I am not being sarcastic. After another couple of weeks [Name Removed] advised me there would be a delay. Appears the burner may have been less than perfect in these units. so there was going to be a delay in supply of tank with the new model burner. It's been a couple of weeks with the new tank all seems to be good. Upgrade rating to 4 stars as the larger tank is working as it should. As far as service goes, Rinnai were good at having the original unit serviced and offering to replace my original unit. Thanks [Name Removed] for cleaning up after the original case manager went MIA.
