NoT up to Old Uniden's standards – Bought two of these radios to work onsite. Both batteries would not hold full charge. One belt clip broke. One volume knob fell off. Both tx/Rx… Read more
remotes failed, with speaker fail.
Good TX distance is great, works well in buildings that mobiles don't.
Solid compact design.
A nice improvement – Uniden has stepped up it's game with this radio' 4 different selectable RX tones which is much nicer on the ears' TX was spot on 5w' looks great… Read more
sounds great & the menus are easy to navigate, but manual programming of your own scanner frequencies can be a little "fiddly" but not impossible, does come with pre-programmed police & fire bands which is good if you live in the bigger city's' but i've yet to hear anything on those bands as yet in the more remote parts of the country. The speaker mic is....'ok' you need to put it up to your ear to here it like a mobile phone....but meh not a biggy, The front facing speaker is always a good thing with good strong audio coming out of it' Also comes with the full double din face plate and brackets & tools for double din installation meaning you don't have to go and buy it as an optional extra for your radio, Overall this is a very good UHF CB from Uniden, as long as you want to spend a bit more on more features as there's to much to list here.

loaders etc the fancier ones pick up everything......Very good in this instance, & after 11 years found them to be the best,..... Suggest you eneloop batteries, as they don't drain when unit turned off.....Gone through at least 10.....They will die if run over by tip trucks or loaders

external speaker jack, very compact and light
I cant complain about this its got all the channels and its very light, and has a small footprint I mounted it in a D-Max Ute using A Heavy Duty Scotch Velcro ( not ordinary velcro ) instead of screws although it does come with a bracket and screws, use the type that sticks to rough surfaces ( get it at the hardware store ) for $5
The UH5000's crisp clear speaker makes it easy to hear and communicate , I matched mine with a short 6db broomstick fibreglass antenna recommended for 4x4s.General Use if you are unsure about which antenna is best pair it with a 3-6db all round antenna you wont go wrong. ( use a higher gain if on the open flat plain for distance )
UH 5000 CB can be purchased for between $155 ( CB radio+ accessories only ) or $200+ ( depending on antenna , cable, fittings) The UNIDEN also has an unbeatable 5 year Warranty and has a rugged design to handle bumps on the dirt or outback roads.
Battery hungry – The look and feel of this scanner is very good. The quality seems fine but time will tell, I've heard this there are some weak points like the volume… Read more
/ squelch / function dial button fails at times. Unless one has good knowledge of radio you should be OK. But can be a very complicated scanner indeed. It comes with a 59 page printed manual, thanks to Uniden for that. Not many devices come with printed manuals these days. The scanner is really designed for the United States and Canada, all you have to do over there is key your zip code / post code and your up and running. But in the southern hemisphere that doesn't work. One company that I know of program a sd_card with the state you live in for about Au$50 and it's worth every cent. The scanner is built around the SDR module radio sensitivity is not as good as Uniden claim. I have compared it with a cheap Chinese brand walkie talkie and on the airband the cheap radio leaves the $1,000 scanner for dead, yes very disappointed.. Talking disappointed, the battery is rubbish a bit less than 3 hours use and it's flat upto 5 hours to recharge it. But apparently you can use a power pack to run the scanner. It has two (2) usb ports but one (1) is for the battery, I can't find in the manual what the other usb is used for. Uniden supplies programming software called Sentinel, I haven't had any experience with it as yet, I don't want to distroy my $50 sd_card. Overall the scanner cost me $930 from my local communications store here in Adelaide, I have to support my local companies.. I'd love to say I love this scanner but I can't. I've been into scanner receivers since the early 1980's so I'm not a beginner. I'll will give it a fair dinkom go. Oh for the uninitiated it does recieve digital TX but don't expect to recieve most police that use encrypted Transceivers it no scanner to my knowledge with decode encrypted TX.
Uniden UH45 Max
It is attractive from the outside, I mean it is small and with short antenna, so it looks like it is convenient to carry or put inside pockets.… Read more
However, the quality is actually bad. I saw lots of review about that on the net but I wanted to try, due to I think my demand is not that high, small with short antenna will convenient. However, the voice quality is pretty low, noisy and distorted. Moreover, the range is not reasonable, particularly for a 2W radio. It seems the receiver sensitivity is pretty bad. Moreover, the 13km claim on range written on the package is totally misleading. The range is unreasonably short. It's definitely just for kids use but the price is for normal handheld radio.
