Arlec DC685
Stopped working after a year. Volume was always a problem. Went off when my neighbor operated her remote gate. Would not recommend! I agree with others Bunnings should withdraw them

installed in remote. It does however make some slight tapping noises on higher speeds due to vibration but is intermediate. Moves good air on all speeds and good variety of speeds. Light is also good too. The blades could be improved on though since they are now slightly bowing but I guess it’s cheap plywood.
It’s a crap! – I wish I read theses reviews, don’t waste your money. It’s not cheap product. I’m

Its perfect, can't live without it – I don't know why there are so many negative reviews for this great fan heater!!! I have been using it for 2 years and swear to god, it works just perfect! Exactly what I wanted. Yes, its a LITTLE noisy but it works all fine. just love it.

Not able to connect, even standing right below it – Probably worse smart light that I have ever bought in my life. Can't connect it to the wifi network, even standing right below it. I would gift it to someone who I hates most.

Dud of a product. The version I have s a few years old and only works on 2.4G WiFi. That’s not too much of an issue if it weren’t such a moody piece of cr#p that can’t be uprooted once set up. Avoid.
The battery in the remote doesn’t last more than two weeks and there is no manual override do not purchase this

Useless for a competent home handyman. There are no spare parts. Throwing one away for the lack of a simple changeover part.

easily be switched to 3000K, 4000K, or 6500K before you install them. They are warm white, white or cool white respectively and the light outputs are 700, 740 and 720 lumens respectively. I have recently bought two more for home [now the princely sum of $12 each] and they are brilliant, literally and metaphorically. They are fitted with a lead and plug and have an inbuilt driver and thus can simply be plugged into any GPO [power point] in the ceiling space or anywhere. They are so neat compared to older downlights which required large, heavy transformers which had to be connected to them. They are also dimmable. They spread the light evenly over a wide area and are very much better than the LEDs they replaced. They are extremely energy efficient. At only 9 watts, one of them lights a 3.1m x 3.1m room very brightly. They have a 3 year warranty and are possibly the best value for money purchase I can remember making. I have no connection with anyone who sells anything.

Changed the batteries and re-set the chimes. Still no communication. Sounds like a similar issue to that experienced by the Hobart reviewer a year ago.

process again. After an hour just now I’ve given up. I have a really good modem and wifi network at home. This is just a very poor product.
Exhaust Fan works really well for its size. It’s quiet, easy to install, and does a great job keeping the bathroom fresh. Good value for the price and perfect for small to medium spaces.

full brightness. Spacing these out around the house means that you never have to turn the lights on when going outside . they also aid with security because thieves usually try to avoid lighting and ,motion activated lights for fear of being seen.
despite the light being always on, the solar charging and the lithium battery allow it to run all night. I have had a couple for a few years now and just bought 6 more to cover all the dark spots.

rating. By 'literal' I am referring to the environmental ingress that occurs after around 10-months if you use the lights outside, that is because the recessed mounting holes in the back are - what I allege intentionally - unsealed for obsolescence (corrosion and ants!) to cause the electronics to fail after the warranty period.
But because I was armed with this knowledge of why the first light failed, this time I pulled the back off the lights and sealed up the mounting holes with silicone before using them, and I'm sure the lights will last sooooooo much longer that the original alleged 'intentionally poor' design.
To recap, I'm still giving these only two out of five stars because in my experience they are not suitable to exposed outdoor use. Indoor use? Well they are solar so probably not the 'right tool for the job' as they should be used outdoors to get charged, but I suppose if you have them under the eaves then maybe you'll get longer use than I did, but my advise is to seal them up like I did (see photos).
And 'Arlec', if you read this, would it really hurt you to seal these up better?

Arlec. It is super efficient (5 watts). I have a few of these fans and use them to extract smells from both areas of the house where there is kitty litter as well as when having a shower. I run them continuously for hours, they do the job. Other standard exhaust fans run on average at 25 watts using 5 times more electricity. One of the fans is above the shower area so provided you turn it on before having a shower it does extract the steam.
Keeps beeping – Love how unit cools but can't stop it beeping turned off and on at wall

you wind up with mess and/or damage at your door. Also when you eventually need to replace batteries in the button unit - good luck with that. I've tried twice on these units and both times the button unit was destroyed trying to get it open as the plastic is very poor quality. Lastly, the chime units need batteies every few months at my place, which gets expensive.
Not Great – terrible fan. One replaced, the other one wasn't. Very loud on low settings. Don't buy this fan. You should get something else. This is not up to standard at all.

summer. Once again not hanging on to the Bunnings docket was a huge mistake so unable to return. When this fan was turned on it starting humming and the blade eventually started spinning after a few minutes. Today same deal but became extra noisy with a louder hum resulting in the motor housing becoming hot. Time to bin it. If you pay twenty or thirty dollars for a fan you would expect to only get a few seasons out of it before it fails but when your paying sixty to eighty dollars for a fan you expect it to last longer. I expected a better quality product from Arlec at that price point.

the actual bells need to be reprogrammed to get the bell sound you want. It’s both long winded and tedious. The units also tend to expire in part over a few years, and I’m forced to buy a new one. This includes Arlec branded items. Not quality. For this reason I’ve been a bit wary of buying yet another “wireless” doorbell. However, this one appears to work with very little setup hasstle. The button part is simply stuck on the appropriate place on the door frame. Let’s hope it stays that way. The press switch also seems impressively solid, and the press action requires an obvious solid press - so that you actually know by the click (and a light) that it has been presses. The bells that plug in at the power point have a few different loudness levels - good, and 38 tune choices which can be changed relatively easily. The only criticism is that there is no list in the package that says what each tune is - and to go back to tune number 1 after your passed it, you need to press the button another 37 times. I was irritated enough to make a list of the tunes for my own records so that I could select them more easily. I’d give it as many stars as possible, but I’m still a little wary of its longevity. It seems robust - more solid than previous ones I’ve had to purchase. Time will tell. Recommended.

loss due to the wifi device not turning off and emptying my tank. And just to be sure I tested this timer for a short 15 minute run before setting it to 60 minutes and heading out to work. I came home to a flood and an empty tank and the pump running dry with the timer still resting on 60 minutes. I cried. I really did. This $15 low-tech timer cost me 50000L in lost water which will cost over $1000 to have replaced by a tanker. Not to mention the pump running dry for 6 hours. It claims extra safety because its double pole switching but what good is that if the timer does not count down. I tested the bloody thing just prior to trusting it. No more automation for me. Technology has betrayed us, even the low-tech stuff. The photo shows it still at the 60 minutes that I set it to.
