Since Crabtree & Evelyn closed all its physical stores and went online only, it has been slowly deleting all its traditional scents and range, and launching new products and scents to go after a younger demographic. However, as they retained Evelyn Rose and had new products in this range I had expected the signature Evelyn Rose scent.

I was disappointed. Evelyn Rose had been tweaked and is now sharper and very peppery compared to the softer, almost powdery scent of the last of my stash of Evelyn Rose. The body butter also feels different and less rich. If the previous body butter is whipped cream, the new is like no fat, diet yogurt with an aqueous feel to it. It’s not all bad, and still smells nice enough, but I am disappointed as my expectations were not met.

My other disappointment is with the excess packaging - the boxes are huge in contrast to the products contained. Also, the hand creams are now in plastic tubes with flip top lids rather than the metal tubes of old with proper caps.

After this online disappointment, I don’t see myself purchasing again unless I can product test before buying.
