A high end fridge to stop working after 2 years was frustrating enough and to discover their warrentees only last for 2 years. I will never buy one of their products again !

We have only just had this washing machine delivered this afternoon and already I can see it is going to be extremely annoying to use. We have had 2… Read more

Fisher and Paykel top loaders before, with a different brand in between, as I didn't like the first F & P. My fault, I didn't read the instructions and everything got tangled under the spindle. However, the new machine delivered today has the same feature that the other brand had. When you choose the spin cycle, it spends 10 mins emptying water before it starts spinning. I do a lot of hand washing and rinsing and use just the spin cycle at least once or twice a day. To have to wait 10 mins for the machine to empty out non existent water, and take 18 mins to do the full spin cycle is ridiculous. Sometimes I only want to spin for a couple of minutes. I ended up giving the other brand away to a dog rescue after 6 months and bought another Fisher and Paykel which I loved. Sadly it died the other day. I also often just want to rinse and spin in the machine, like this afternoon. The rinse cycle takes 34 mins. The quick wash takes 31 mins. Go figure. There is no option for a quick rinse. The old machine used to take 10 mins on the quick rinse cycle. And I can only have Automatic water level on rinse. I wanted to rinse a couple of things this afternoon and wanted to put water level on low. Tough luck. I never use auto water level because it takes twice as long to fill. I can see this machine very quickly becoming someone else's second hand, almost brand new, washing machine.

cycle, you will have to wait another several minutes for the 'child lock' to allow you to access your clothes. So, a 46 minute cycle will take well over an hour. A fifteen minute rinse takes around half an hour. A ten minute spin for a hand wash for instance, becomes at least half an hour before you can access the spun item. If you stop the machine late in the spin cycle, say at seven minutes, NO SPIN at all will have been accomplished, in fact the clothes will feel WETTER. What has it been doing for seven minutes? AND, you will have several minutes to wait before it will unlock the machine, therefore not saving any time. If you dont have all day to get a load of washing done, get another machine. This machine is incredibly infuriating, especially if you are in any form of hurry.

I could handle poor automatic water level sensing and the spin going out of balance too easily, but not the planned obsolescence. I requested a… Read more

service in 2026 on a 2020 WA8560P1 washing machine that was noisy at high spin speeds. The service technician did not correctly diagnose the cause of the noise and provided an expensive quote for unrelated pump and suspension parts that were not cost-effective to replace, which I declined. Within a couple of weeks of the service call, spin mode stopped completely. By simply removing the agitator, I could easily see that the screws securing the spline drive to the bowl hub had sheared off, evidently failing progressively over time rather than all at once. Upon installing new screws myself, the machine is now working properly again. The $220 service call fee was therefore a waste of money. I tried complaining to F&P but would have incurred another $220 fee for them to look at it again.

But this is worse than poor customer service. This is also clear evidence of planned obsolescence. The bowl hub has provision for 6 screws to secure the spline drive to it. Only 3 screws were installed in the factory, which obviously couldn't handle the forces because they sheared clean off in only 5 years. That wouldn't have happened with 6 screws. Unfortunately since it isn't possible to remove sheared-off metal screw threads from a plastic bowl hub, it therefore isn't possible to install 6 new screws after the failure has occurred, hence the best I could do was install 3 new screws in the alternate holes. I presume that they too will shear off in due course. Naturally the bowl hub is not available as a separate part so the whole bowl will need to be replaced next time at great expense. I wont be looking at F&P products when that day comes.

F&P used to be a good brand when it was a New Zealand company before the Haier China takeover. It's something much less now.

and unboxed the item and set up the machine ready to go. We did 2 cold wash loads on Friday afternoon. Machine worked well. With no complaints. However on Saturday afternoon when we wanted to do another load.... the machine was DEAD. No lights... nothing. Tried plugging into another powerpoint to check ....still nothing. Checked powerpoint and found no issues there. After spending $1086 on this machine to say we were disappointed to only get 2 washes out of it is an understatement. HOWEVER, I got in contact with AOL straight away and spoke to [Name Removed]. I explained my problem with him and he then conferred with his manager and came back on line to say "Our guys will be putting a new machine on the truck for you to be delivered asap. We will check to make sure it was installed by us correctly and if so, we will remove and install a new machine for you".... which they did. Come Tuesday midday new machine had been installed and happy to say at this point it is still working well. Excellent service by Appliances On Line. Not happy however with getting a lemon from Fisher and Paykel.

have ever used. Major issues include: * recurring electronic control board failures * poor cleaning performance * draining failures and poor drying * flimsy plastic rack components * high repair costs There seems to be a serious manufacturing issue relating to the electronic control board which even the Fisher & Paykel technicians cannot repair. We have experienced this with our current and previous dishwasher where 4 different technicians failed to fix the reoccurring electronic board failures. Therefore, we would like to warn future customers in purchasing this dishwasher so they can avoid the frustrations and extreme disappoint we have encountered.

FaultCode20 Flapper Heater - Wire broken! The fridge beeps 20 times (exact) when opening the door for this fault, the code is also shown on the… Read more

diagnostic display (see graphics how to read that one).

What I did to repair: Remove the cover at the bottom of the flapper (1 screw), and you see a pair of wires going to the bottom end of the heater built into the flapper. Turns you can pull down the heater - pulling it down just a little makes it much easier to disconnect the plug. Once disconnected, I measured resistance of heater as 38ohm. Odd, because other sources (including AI and youtube videos) suggest it should be 15ohm...

Next I remove the cover at the top of the left door - there you can unplug the connector, and access the wire going to the heater. A paper clip slides nicely into the end of the connector (both top and bottom end), and I was able to confirm that one of the wires has an open circuit with my multimeter. Pulling (hard) on that wire reveals where the wire is broken.

I removed the flapper (first remove the spring), and then you can see where the wire comes from: from behind the door seal (see photo). With the wire separated at the break, I pushed some heatshrink over one end, soldered them back together, and moved the heatshrink to cover it up. That fixed it! (fingers crossed this lasts the remaining life of the fridge)

Final comment to Fisher & Paykel: the flimsy thin/poor quality wire is pre-programmed to fail eventually, as it has to make the 90deg move of the flapper every time you open/close the left door.

Like the fridge, but reassembling it after cleaning is IMPOSSIBLE! Looks good, works well, is nice and quiet. BUT, if you take anything out of it and… Read more

then try to reassemble? A nightmare. Yes, there are videos and instructions. The videos are poor quality, too fast and ignore or skip over essential bits. A power failure happened while I was away and the freezer had to be taken apart to clean. I discovered later that F&P ‘do not recommend’ that you do this. What you are supposed to do when you have a freezer part full of tomato gunk that defrosted, ran everywhere inside and then refrozen is ignored. I had to finally get a technician in at considerable expense to do it, after I and others had spent enormous time and effort trying to follow the skimpy instructions. I am now stuck again, dammit, after the veggie containers needed to be thoroughly cleaned. I simply canNOT figure out how to get 2 little plastic clips back and into their places and nothing will work until or unless I do. It’s enough to make me buy a new fridge and no, I won’t be buying F&P again. Pity, I was a long term customer until this fridge. Terrible.

So, this was a replacement for a dodgy 10kg Bosch front loader. Our verdict? We like it! SO quiet! We've not had one problem with it so far, and… Read more

we've been using it (a lot) for almost 4 months now. The spin cycle kicks in so quickly, and is really very quiet. You just don't notice it with the laundry door shut, and barely notice it with the door open! This machine is honestly the noisiest when it's taking water in! The cycles on it are very useful. I can wash blankets, heavy things, doonas/duvets, woollens, delicates etc. And obviously normal cycles, too! And I LOVE that you can do a 9kg 'Everyday' wash, that's under an hour. And things come out clean. Or I can make it just over an hour by adding in an extra rinse, or a prewash, or changing the temperature from 30 to 40 degrees. Or I can do a longer 'Cottons' wash if I think things are dirtier than usual. But even then, I can change the 'Speed' function and make it wash a bit faster. Basically, I have so many options with this washing machine, and it's not stuffed up even once. And it gets used a lot. The only downsides are that it's actually fairly noisy taking in the water (and we have the cold water tap very open so it's not struggling to get enough water or anything) and the wash cycles often take a bit longer than what it says to begin with. I've been caught out a few times thinking I'll have time to put a second load on before heading out, but then I check and it still has 17 minutes to go on it or something when it was meant to be finished already. Perhaps for lighter loads, the original time might be the case, but for full loads, it takes longer than the cycle says. However, it's still WAY faster than our old Bosch, so it's still pretty good. And I honestly think our clothes come out cleaner in this machine than they ever did in the Bosch. Plus the F&P machine is gentle on our clothes. No pulled drawstrings, stretched or torn clothing. I'm a happy camper and would definitely recommend this machine. Wish we'd bought it instead of the Bosch all those years ago! The mechanics and overall function seem superior.

water features are also ok. The issue is the black mat finish of the fridge. technician comes, makes some adjustments, works for a few months...fault comes back! Note customer service & technicians have always been friendly...so no issue with that (and the reason for 2 stars as opposed to 1 star). But the fault with the actual dryer keeps recurring. There is clearly some underlying problem with our dryer, and they cannot seem to fix it permanently. Brand-new washing machine after only three washes, it began leaking from the front door due to a faulty rubber seal. No errors. No misuse. I have two witnesses. Fisher & Paykel refusing to honour the warranty, instead are trting to shift the blame onto me creating hypothetical scenarios with no legal basis or supporting evidence.. The repair is not costly, but they'd rather liability avoidance rather than standing behind their product!. Also their AI-generated response is appalling!! They should invest in their product instead!

A near-new appliance failing after three uses is not acceptable!. Consumers deserve better! Disgusting treatment! This is unacceptable. If i could rate zero I would.

Avoid at All Costs! Terrible Quality and Nonexistent Customer Support – I cannot emphasise enough how disappointed and frustrated I am with the Fisher and Paykel glass cooktop that was installed in our brand-new house.… Read more

This supposed "cooktop" turned out to be an absolute disaster just after using it twice! Imagine my shock when, while simply wiping it clean, the entire corner of the glass cooktop cracked. Let me be crystal clear: there was absolutely no impact or accidental damage involved – the only items that ever touched this cooktop were regular cooking pots placed on the burners for their intended purpose.

One would assume that a cooktop, which is explicitly designed and marketed for cooking, would possess a level of durability that matches its intended function. Unfortunately, this is not the case with Fisher and Paykel's product. It seems they've managed to create a glass cooktop that is as fragile as a soap bubble, unable to withstand the very cooking activities it's designed for. What a ridiculous contradiction!

Hoping for some redemption, I decided to reach out to Fisher and Paykel's customer service, hoping they would stand behind their product's quality and address this glaring issue. What a mistake that turned out to be. I sent them clear photographic evidence of the damage, only to receive a response that left me baffled and infuriated. They had the audacity to claim that this damage was due to "impact" and thus not covered under warranty. How convenient for them to label it as such and absolve themselves of any responsibility for their shoddy craftsmanship!

But here's the real kicker – after delving into numerous online reviews, it became evident that my experience was far from isolated. Countless other customers have faced the exact same issue: a fragile glass cooktop that spontaneously decides to crack under normal cooking conditions. And guess what? Fisher and Paykel consistently wash their hands of these problems, refusing to acknowledge the widespread quality issues plaguing their products.

To add insult to injury, Fisher and Paykel's customer service is nothing short of abysmal. They seem to have mastered the art of ignoring their customers' complaints and concerns, blatantly shirking their responsibility to stand by their products and address genuine issues. I can honestly say that in all my years as a consumer, I have never encountered such abhorrent customer service.

In conclusion, if you value your hard-earned money and sanity, do yourself a favor and steer clear of Fisher and Paykel's glass cooktops. The poor quality and lack of accountability they demonstrate is a disservice to anyone seeking a reliable and functional kitchen appliance. I deeply regret trusting this brand and will never make the mistake of doing so again. Save yourself the headache and disappointment – invest in a reputable brand that actually cares about the quality and performance of their products.
