mattress or bed frame, usually we only have two choices which KING or QUEEN, the size will be standard for any shop or manufacturers. However, Ikea claim that they have their own standard size, and you must purchase together with the mattress, even they selling in Malaysia, that’s really not a friendly seller. So make sure you carefully check the measurement before buying anything that to match or pair with non- Ikea products.

supporting evidence. Assembly Services Australia (ASA) which IKEA arranged to do the installation, would not even take my calls or provide an email for me to send details of my complaint.

IKEA said that I must have caused the damage! - unbelievable.

It took a complaint to Consumer Affairs (CA) and the threat of VCAT for IKEA to eventually accept responsibility.

My advice is go to CA after what I assume is IKEA's standard initial refusal to do the right thing, then go straight to VCAT if still no resolution. Dont waste months like I did, in assuming I was dealing with a company that cares about its customers. Better yet, dont buy anything from them at all.

(nice little add on - I also got asked to review the 50 individual items (shelves etc) that made up the 2 wardrobes... almost comical)

Great Chair at Excellence Price – I've been using this chair for just over a year and run a Youtube channel where i carefully research, analyse and review products so just wanted to… Read more

share some pros and cons in hope that it helps others make a decision:

PROS Unbeatable price, 10 year warranty, high build quality and solid parts, soft castors, sturdy structure, very comfortable seat, great seat height and inclination range for short and tall users, has a head rest, looks very sleek (though subjective), back mesh material makes the chair very breathable. After 1 year of heavy use the condition is near perfect. Can try and pick up from a physical store.

CONS The arm rests and neck rest is not adjustable, seat does not decline far enough for a movie position.

It's not a perfect chair, nor the most comfortable i have used however, for the price that you pay it definitely exceeded my expectations and therefore i would give this a 5/5. I'f you're after a top tier chair where price isn't a major factor then Herman Miller or Steel Case would be more suitable my in my personal opinion - and having used both heavily over the years - i can't justify the marginal cost over a Markus.

Love sofa hate my smelly new covers – I've recently purchased new replacement covers for my lovely ektorp 2 seater sofa. Great colour, but they had a terrible smell when I opened the package. Will definitely need washing before use.

Not at all comfortable – Looks good, easy to put together. I paid the top price for the good mattress. Had to put a foam topper and 2 Doonas on it. Still hard. Would have been better off paying the cheaper price for the simple foam mattress.  Show details

Good and Affordable – Good, comfortable and affordable. Had this chair for more than 2 years. It served as a nursing chair, with a nice rocking movement, and a very simple style. Further, it's easy to move around due to being very light.

Totally not what I expected from IKEA – Where do I start? Reject shop quality. Bought the 16 cube in the black/brown last night and had just a lovely time assembling it (sarcasm) A… Read more

carpenter might actually just quit life putting this piece of junk together.

I wholeheartedly expected it to be made of cardboard (outside panels have corrugated board on the inside of them) fair enough.

What I wasn't expecting - build quality Fully assembled this product is wobbly (that's even with glueing the dowels in place) The dowels are 6mm, which means the holes should be 5.5mm, but they are more like 5.9 (loosely held) Next is the fact that the only screws that are holding it together is the outside 8 screws, simply not enough for structural integrity

The inner cubes all mount by just dowels and in my world that is rubbish.

There is plenty of ways you can incorporate thinner screws (say m3) to join several cubes together complementing the dowels For a cost of AUD$229

The only way you can make this product stable in its current form is to mount it to the wall or put a backboard on it $5 more dollars on screws and 2 seconds of CNC programming would have changed this review to 5 stars.

Fyi, the 4 pieces I have left out makes a negligible difference to strength (being that they are only connected by dowels) In the second and third photo I am showing the deflection with moderate one finger pressure it is deflecting by 10mm (massive amount)

Not happy.

Cooling? Not if you want to keep it clean – Just recently I've found that I'm waking frequently at night because I'm too hot - not because the room is hot (the air-con is on) but because I've… Read more

poured too much heat into the mattress and it becomes too hot.

We decided to try a cooling mattress topper and, after looking at a variety of options, chose the IKEA KNAPSTAD one.

The topper comes all compressed down into a 16.5kg roll (king size) and is made of a 5cm layer of memory foam with a removable cover. The cover has one side which is cooling (summer) and one which is not (winter). I don't actually understand why the cover is removable though because it cannot be washed (according to the paperwork that accompanied it).

Once on the bed we tried it for five nights just under the sheet, it wasn't great but not too bad. However, because I sweat at night, we were concerned about the hygiene aspect since it cannot be washed.

The paperwork said it could be placed beneath a mattress protector so we tried that last night - a very bad move! The protector negated any cooling effect from the topper, meaning that I had a lousy night's sleep, unable to get cool, I'm absolutely k####ered.

The topper went back to IKEA this morning!

Initially they wanted to to give us a credit note as the item will now have to be thrown away (mattresses, toppers, pillows, etc. cannot be resold apparently). Poor design we think, it should have been made washable.

We argued that there was nothing to say about credit only on the item, receipt or website and that we wouldn't have bought it if that were the case, certainly not at $449! Technically it could be argued that the item was not fit for purpose and therefore a refund due, since it said it could be used under a protector, but cannot if you want the cooling effect.

Under the circumstances they relented and gave us a refund.

Awful – Don't buy appliances from IKEA Ikea delivered a wrecked dishwasher and refused to rectify their mistake. They don't have an email address and they keep you on hold for hours on the phone. Seems like the customer is always wrong at IKEA.

My granny flat went from no storage to having loads of storage in a matter of hours! – I recently moved into a granny flat that had absolutely no storage besides a couple of cupboards in the kitchen. No laundry/linen cupboard, no pantry… Read more

and nowhere to put my clothes. After spending hours on the internet, going from furniture shop to shop and spending several hours at IKEA, I settled on the Musken wardrobe because of the amount of storage it had, it looked easy to assemble and because it had this "old" look that would suit my old granny flat.

I bought 2 wardrobes, they fit in the Hyndaui Iload van easily and took 4 hours to assemble in total. Instructions were easy to follow. I recommend reading them from start to finish, before starting to assemble so you have a rough idea of how it all goes together. Don't get ahead of yourself.

I am really happy with the quality. The doors and drawers are working really well and they haven't gotten stuck or bowed. The wardrobe comes with optional shelves, I left them out so I could hang long dresses. I think for the amount of storage you get, it's an absolutely bargain. The only downside is that they look like they would be difficult to pull apart and move to the next rental, so I will probably leave them and sell them to the future tenant. If you move a lot and don't have the man power or a trailer, then look for something else. If you're staying somewhere long term, then this is your wardrobe.

Clever, Simple Design - And So Practical – We've been using a FYRESDAL daybed as our main sofa for over a year now and it's so sturdy and practical. All solid metal - including the slats! No… Read more

more upholstery cleaning, with toxic chemicals and waiting for it to dry. We just machine wash the cushion and mattress covers, and the metal frame is a breeze to keep clean. The slats mean it is well ventilated and fluff doesn't accumulate. We tried out 3 different mattresses on it until we found a super firm one which suited sitting (sitting is a smaller distribution of weight to sleeping). We like it minimal and breezy in Summer, and add a bunch of throws and more big cushions in Winter for cosiness. There's plenty of room. We also partly pull out the extra bed frame (it just slides out as much as you want, up to another single mattress width), and add cushions to create an ottoman or chaise effect. It then slides away when not needed. It's long enough to lie down on as is, and can easily provide extra sleeping space for 2 when the frame is fully extended. This is such a clever design. The only thing I don't like is the powder coating. It has remained pristine so far, but eventually it is bound to get scratched. Plain metal without a coating would have suited me better. Edit: We purchased a second one of these to create a matching pair of lounges in Oct 2020. I've often been asked the question of what mattress we found worked best on the Fyresdal Daybed, and we ultimately found a Clark Hospital Grade foam mattress was the best for use as a lounge. This is because when sitting, weight distribution is smaller, and focused in one point, rather than spread out across the mattress when lying down. A hospital or medical mattress is designed to reduce the incidence of pressure sores, so is firmer and distributes weight much better than an ordinary sleeping mattress. These 'lounges' are also super comfortable for sleeping!

which seemed a st^pid idea because the bookcase is open shelved and on display. Today, I bought some solution to remove the sticker and lo and behold upon removal, I noticed two rather large paint damaged spots concealed by the sticker. What a dodgy thing to do! I am so disappointed in IKEA and its quality control people for allowing such an underhand thing to happen and yet continue to sell the item at full price ! Some staff members would surely have been aware of this. They ought to be sacked for taking short cuts and deliberately misleading the buying public! Now it makes perfect sense why a label that ought to have been placed in a less prominent position was used to cover up damage. Shame on you, IKEA.

Assembly nightmare - poorly designed instructions and hardware – I bought the Ekedalen table and 6 chairs. I had it professionally assembled via Ikea. It took the assemblers about 10 hours to complete the job.… Read more

Really. I am pretty happy with the table; it's durable and quite scratch proof- suitable for children. However, a bit over a year after we bought the set, one of the chairs developed a crack in the leg and started coming apart at the join. I contacted Ikea who agreed to send a replacement. I tried to assemble the new chair (Ikea did not offer to supply an assembler even though we originally paid for that) and accidentally screwed a bolt right through the front of the chair. I think the instructions and design were pretty poor - no warning at all that it was even possible to do that. I shouldn't need an engineering degree to understand the instructions. The problem seems to be the cylindrical piece that anchors the bolt (see photos). You can screw the bolt into the piece, but you can also screw it out the other side. There's no reason for that piece to be open on the other side. That would have prevented me screwing it too far. With the benefit of hindsight, there is a symbol in the manual that has a spiral diagram and numbers 1 and 2 (pictured) but I had no idea that that was meant to mean only turn the bolt twice. Not even the people at Ikea could decode that instruction. I then had to take the chair back to Ikea to ask them to replace the broken piece. They did not want to do that. They claimed it was my fault and I showed them the page in the manual and ask them to explain how I could possibly understand their language-free instructions. We spoke to two people at Ikea who repeatedly said they didn't have a replacement part in stock. I said I expected them just to replace the whole chair. When I said I thought the cylindrical anchor piece was poorly designed because you can screw the bolt right through it and it should not be open at both sides, the Ikea person said it was like that because they use that piece in lots of furniture and sometimes you are meant to screw the bolt right through it. So the part is poorly designed because it's cheaper for Ikea to produce it that way. Only when I asked to speak to the store manager did they produce the replacement part in about 20 seconds - having apparently lied about having it repeatedly. Appalling customer service. I also recalled the assembler mentioning that he had assembled replacement tables for a number of customers who had screwed a bolt right through the top of the table. It's likely a similar design problem. Having got the replacement piece, it took me 40 minutes to assemble the chair. It's pretty horrible to assemble with no space to turn the Allen key, so you do frustrating little quarter turns then spend 20 seconds trying to re-attach the key. I would probably get better with practice and I did have a little person helping but allow about 30 minutes per chair if you just use the supplied tools.
