5/5 for grater but only 3/5 for durability – This is the best and fastest grater I have ever used, especially for carrot and hard cheese and similar textured foods. It cuts the food in fine… Read more

julienne bits that are nice and clean without half the food sticking to the grater. I would rather forgo grated carrot altogether if I couldn't use this grater as it make the job so much easier. It comes with a small plastic piece for gripping the food item which is recommended as you can grate your knuckles if you're too close to the blades as it is quite sharp, though personally I try to be careful but have still had a few cuts. Extremely fast and easy. Though the blades are stainless steel and are still sharp they are held in plastic and this is the part of it that breaks and wears out over time if used (I use it a lot in summer for salads). They also have silicone bits on the corners which will come off in time (and have ended up in my food!). Had the rest of it been made in stainless steel or something more durable this could well of become a "forever kitchen item". I have bought 2 over the last decade and attempted to buy another (because the plastic housing broke) but unfortunately this exact same style is no longer available with a newer model style combining the julienne grating blade with another grating option - I have not gone for this as I have no need for the other grating option and it looks like there will be more stress on the plastic and it may break quicker in my opinion. It is a shame that such an efficient product is made in a way that it still can fall apart. These have cost me approx $28-$30 so not really cheap. I find microplane graters just okay for other foods but they still macerate carrot or other veg. I have found that this type of grater is called a Korean or Ukrainian grater as I am trying to find another to replace my broken one.

Overrated – I too was talked into this product by the store as it was supposed to be the bees knees and I needed to ice a gingerbread house. Slow was too fast… Read more

and icing takes a while to stop coming out, making a big mess. A plastic zip lick bag with hole in the corner did a better job! Not hard to push icing out Expensive. Too fast on slow setting. Fiddly when changing colours or refilling.
