standard they once were you are now buying a China Scope without the reduction in price, when I point this out to my friends you can tell they are still in love with the brand but when you look closely you can just see it. The 3 - 9 x 40 was a dead loss more suited to an Air Rifle (short Range) I also recently tried a pair of their binoculars, they were also cheaply made the rubber was sticky out of the box.... needless to say I sent them back for a refund and bought a pair of Atlas for $100 cheaper but 10 times better.
Many Many people say to me their Leupold is great but compared to what! my $500 Burris is much better than my $1500 Leupold VX-3 but people only see what they want to see.
It's a shame.

crisp sight picture with the terrific fine reticle and positive adjustments .
My disappointment came when I compared it to a much cheaper scope I had on a .22 LR in afternoon low light situation when hunting . I must say I had to a double take as the light gathering capability of the Nikko Sterling at 1/2 the price was far better than the VX1, The sight picture was also smaller on the VX1 which was also a surprise.
I don't think the VX1 is a bad scope by any means its clear and accurate however it really offers cheaper end performance at a price that is well above where it should be based on the name not performance , and there scopes than offer better light gathering ,field of view and eye relief with adjustable objective at 1/2 the price .

rounds plus no problems. I am not gentle with my gear... I use it- if it don't work i wont own it...! Very good low light--- and color quality is better than my knightforce [i hate to say that] but it is true, i'am keeping my other scopes..... But i am keeping this one too..excellent scope good eye relief on this one,all in all i would not hesitate to take this scope anywhere in the world...... Very clear optics heavy
