Manfrotto 290xtra Great tripod, – I bought this tripod for a D810 and 70-200 lens. It is sturdy and well built. I swapped out the head for a pro{master} sph36h ball head because I… Read more

shoot landscape and don't do video. I take this thing through the bush, salt water, and general scrub bashing to get the shot. This thing is SOLID. I'm 6'2" and this thing Is tall enough considering my camera doesn't have a flip out screen. It has Two leg release clamps per leg and comes with an attached plastic "spanner" that clips onto one of the legs if you every need to tighten the legs. I haven't needed to adjust it as yet and the plastic "spanner" disappeared at the first waterfall I shot. I'll just use a real socket to tighten when the occasion arises. Just remember to rinse off the salt, sand, mud and blood and the beer after every shoot and it's ready to go again. Ditch the carbon fibre idea which is all a big toss anyway and put the extra money towards a lens. Happy with this purchase.

A most competent tripod – Hugely useful tripod. The tripod neck is nice and high with the legs at full extension - for 180+cm guy, so no need to extend the centre column and… Read more

introduce instability - unless you need to go higher. The geared centre column is a real boon, allowing smooth and precise extending of the centre column. The leg braces are extremely versatile, and can extend and contract independently as necessary depending on how far each leg is spread.

Very sturdy tripod, a step up from the 055X tripod series, which holds its own better in windy conditions, much less movement, if any, over lesser tripods. Overall, a much more precise and stable tripod over the usual lighter weight and travel style tripods. Sure, it is much heavier than the 055X series, but that is a very good thing if you need more solidity and stability. Sturdiness/Stability, geared centre column, quick release leg locks and very adaptable leg bracing system. Pricey, but then again you get what you pay for.

I use my Manfrotto Befree Compact Tripod MKBFRA4-BH every opportunity and I love the experience every time – I bought the tripod to help me take good quality photographs on my Digital SLR Camera. I have not regretted buying the tripod because it serves its purpose well. I cannot imagine taking pictures without a tripod.

Manfrotto 117 / 117B reliable heavy tripod – It is a solid but heavy tripod for still photography and video/movie use. Originally the Manfrotto 117 was primarily sold as a studio/still… Read more

photography tripod. It only changed slightly, over it's production history. I have often used it out in the field with my Hasselblad and 4x5, as well as in studio. I also used the taller Manfrotto 3036 for years, it unfortunately required frequent leg-lock maintenance to handle heavier gear. The 117, being demonstrably more stable and reliable, always had reserved seating in the boot. In more recent years, Manfrotto re-released it as the 117B, which is simply the last 117, but painted black and now promoted as a video/movie tripod. I have been using two 117's for over 20 years with minimal need for anything but minimal maintenance.

With a name like Offroad one would assume this tripod is robust. It is not. The legs are great but the camera mount is plastic. Not just plastic… Read more

but it is held onto the ball head with a self tapping screw going into plastic. Plastic that I can't even seem to super glue. I broke this a few months ago, bought a replacement head, only for that to have broken with hardly any use. It is utter rubbish, such a poor design, do better Manfrotto. And btw I want my money back.

I’ve trusted Manfrotto for over 30 years, but after my recent experiences, I’ve switched to Benro—and I won’t be looking back. Manfrotto no longer… Read more

responds to customer concerns, and the quality of their products has dropped drastically. Gear that used to last a lifetime now barely survives six months. Everything I purchased in 2024 has already turned into complete rubbish.

The communication is just as bad—basically nonexistent. After this, I’ll never buy another Manfrotto product again. Shame on them for such poor quality and their total lack of response.
