Rode NT-USB
It captures sound cleanly and naturally, with no harshness, making it perfect for calls, recording, and streaming. Setup was super easy, and the build quality feels solid. My voice comes through crisp and professional every time.

I love this mic – This is a great clear condenser mic for live performance. Clear vocals. Lovely on male and female voice. Not tizzy just clear and lovely. Needs 48v… Read more
phantom power, make sure you have that on your mixing desk. Definitely one to consider if you are a vocalist and want to take your own mic with you. It is sensitive so generally cover with foam filter. And make sure you have good mic technique.
Support left me on my own – After about 2 years, with very little use, the transmitter did not work, neither as a mic nor as a transmitter with an external mic. Can not be reset… Read more
or updated the software (most likely the fault) because it is not the version 2. I emailed support, I was informed that I had 2 years expanded warranty and that an RMA was going to be sent but I had to fill the warranty register on line. Could not complete it because I lost the invoice in one of 2 house moves, wrote again and have no response. I even told them that I might pay for it but...only silence. My only solution is to loose what I paid for it, near 300 AUD. Well, never again....Beware...

Great first real microphone – When you get serious about recording, get one of these microphones. It is clear and very quiet. It is easily as good as microphones costing 5 to 10… Read more
times the price. (eg Neuman U103 has almost identical character but steeper price) The included shock mount and 'pop' filter make it ideal for recording vocals. Very flat response. No excessive high end peak or low bump. Just lovely clear recording. When used properly you can record release ready material. Highly recommend
Note the NT1A is different to the NT1 - and probably not as good, so be careful which you get.

readily available through most music specialty suppliers. Rode offer a 10 year warranty on their microphones and in my experience, back this with excellent free repair or replacement service. There's a wealth of information including contact details on the website. I can highly recommend Rode.
Good audio / great 10 year warranty support – Low noise, good stereo image with decent windsock. 9v battery is easily knocked into on position unfortunately. Best is Røde's service: a loose… Read more
connection 5 years into use (probably my fault) was replaced no questions asked, without charge and with return postage paid for.
Console gamers stay away – *If you want to use it with Gaming Consoles (Nintendo Switch ect) DO NOT BUY* I was gifted this as a Christmas present in 2022 from my partner. We… Read more
bought from a reputable online store - first thing I noticed was it wasn’t sealed. Or have security tape (like you’d find with a new mobile phone). This is strange, and from viewing many unboxing videos and other reviews it appears this is how they are shipped.
I primarily dual PC stream. It’s what it was bought for. After many hours in many days I have been able to get the settings to an acceptable level to do basic streaming. MANY hours of frustration of settings configuration with Discord - again to a basic level that doesn’t annoy the chat lobby.
The worst part. These DO NOT work with Nintendo Switch. I’ve read other forums with people not being able to get clear audio from other Gaming consoles ie PS5/XBox. It’s a very loud distorted high pitched audio that is painful to your ears. How this has any accreditation is beyond me - it’s painful to have the audio from a gaming console to the Caster Pro 2 - which is what the Caster Pro 2 is Primarily marketed to. Gamers and Streamers. To add insult to injury, RODE is aware of this issue and has no fix. Considering the Caster Pro 2 has been released for 2 years now, and that this is the second version of the product - a reasonable person would assume they would have had this fixed.
Con’s. - the set up is confusing at first. You’ll need to search YouTube vids to figure it out. - RODE online help vids are somewhat helpful - but don’t address the many faults when setting up. - if you run too many audio channels at once it will hard reset/shut down. Running two cables channels and one Bluetooth channel at the same time seems to be its limit. - the sound Pads are poor quality and will turn themselves on without you knowing (due to poor fixtures. Touching once will sometimes double click ect) - Discord integration is non existent. Good luck figuring that out - it took me days to figure out how to not have your audio running through your voice channel (another issue they are aware of and no fix) - once connected to your PC the Caster will not allow you to turn on your PC without the Caster Pro being turned on first. Another known issue, no fix. - Help/technical assistance through online is tedious and takes a week to get a response. Don’t waste your time, YouTube or trouble shoot until you figure it out. - mixers can sometimes fault if you move them slowly and distort audio/cutout audio.
Pros. - looks cool. These do look really cool. - once setup; will perform basic audio mixing. - sound effects are fun.
Conclusion. If you really want one for basic audio mixing or multiple mic input recording (Podcasts) then yeah sure go for it. If you’re using it at all for Console gaming audio mixing I cannot recommend the RODE Caster Pro 2. It was marketed as a do all personal audio mixer and doesn’t deliver. Not even close to the mark. And, for near $900Aud I’m sure there are better products to be sourced, even if they’re not designed in Aus.
I'm dabbling with creating podcasts (I had no idea there were over 5 million of them). I need good sound for the voices. I went to a local DJ City… Read more
store and spent some time chatting with staff about my needs. This was the unit they recommended. This mic is simple to use. Just plug it in to your computer, load up your recording software and away you go. I can say, the sound quality is excellent. Definitely achieved the warmth I was after by tweaking the settings in Garage Band. The build of the unit is fantastic, very solid. To get best results we sat reasonably close to our mics - 15cm is good - which were placed on el-cheapo booms which were attached to the table. There's nothing more to say. Australian made, Australian owned - they're great!
Finally they accepted the return and sent me a new unit.
