singer heavy duty machine in a previous sewing class I had a few years ago.

But aside that I am a complete beginner who just wanted to get back into it on a budget a few years later.

I had to go to my local sewing shop 6 separate times within less than a month just for them to unjam the machine. They suggested many different methods to prevent jams from occurring. Such as turning the dial towards your self, not messing with the tension, having the needle in the fabric before pressing the pedal AND using high quality thread.

I had done ALL of these things and more! But it still jammed! It had fully jammed about 7 times within a few weeks of actually using it.

Additionally 2 or 3 needles were broken!! All within less than a month!!

The singer heavy duty sewing machine functioned better with less knowledge. And now with MORE sewing knowledge the singer start 1306 decides to function WORSE. This leads me to believe that its a lack of quality not knowledge.

Reading other peoples experiences (who are more knowledgeable) with this machine make sense because these machines are likely to not made to be manufactured/quality controlled properly. Due to them being one of the cheapest machines you can buy on the market.

People spend hard earned money on these machines. I would expect that it simply functions.

Please do not buy, spend your money elsewhere and save yourself the headache!!

foot from regular to zipper foot for example. Actually sewing in a zip isn't even in the manual. Once it is correctly set up.it works reasonably ( no reverse switch action). Just feels slightly less than smooth running. Lightweight.

with my mum's 1990s singer and my nans 1951 singer.. I took the faulty Singer Promise machine to a local lincraft store and they all said it was broken. There is no way to use it. I then went through Woolworths marketplace to try to return it and you can't get a hold of anyone to actually return it. When you read the reviews that say it's faulty, they are faulty. These machines are lemons. Do not buy them!! The tread constantly break, the tension is broken, the needles constantly break..

warrenty it is gone! Very disappointing. I have never had a rice cooker which has a quality as low as Singer's rice cooker. DO NOT BUY. Wasting your money

One plus is all the stars this machine deserves – Was supposed to be so good from the reviews. Really regret my purchase, have done so little sewing since i bought it. Loud, clunky, just a horrible piece of junk.
