Vango
Caution: Vango Tent - No Flyscreens - 'unfit For Purpose' – I purchased a Vango Dart 200 2 Person Camping & Hiking Tent (POP-UP)- Treetops (VTE-DA200-F) tent $79 AUD on 14-1-21. WARNING: Vango make some tents… Read more
without fly-screen doors or windows and they do not disclose the absence of insect screens in their marketing.
THE PROBLEM - Design fails to meet a reasonable expectation Cheap chinese popups/beach shelters without screens I can understand. But Vango market a serious quality product for camping - not beach shelters. The Vango Is TOTALLY USELESS without a screened door. You can not partially or fully unzip the tent door for ventilation without letting in mosquitos and insects and other nasties. Not only a TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY - a total waste of all the quality materials that went into making it!
If you keep the tent door closed on these smaller tents (especially a pop-up) in warmer climates you turn them into a sauna and you will hyperventilate on your own Co2. You will wake up in a pool of condensation..that's if you can sleep.
MY EXPERIENCE I tried this Vango tent on 28-1-21 at a roadside reserve near Casino NSW. It was 7pm, 24 degrees celsius/high humidity. I unpacked my new Vango and was impressed with the quality fabric, great design and the size - then I realized it had no screen door or window!!!!!! I threw in my airbed and pillow and within 5 minutes with the door closed the temperature/humidity inside the tent climbed so high I could barely breath without hyperventilating. If I unzipped the door I would have been eaten alive by mosquitos. I packed up and headed for a hotel.
CHEAPER TENTS GET IT RIGHT I paid $39.99 for an ALDI popup and it has a screened inner door. It is not made from the quality materials used in this Vango tent but I wish I had taken my ALDI Popup with me on this trip - it has a screen door & served me well in hotter weather...and unlike the Vango the Aldi tent is 'fit for purpose'.
SUMMARY This is not the only vango tent sold without screened doors or windows. How can any competent tent manufacturer produce a product so 'unfit for purpose' ?
Beware before you buy a vango tent. Nowhere in their marketing did they indicate this tent had no screen door. So valid to wonder why VANGO would even make a tent from such quality materials then leave out the screen door and try to market it to the serious camper. Totally useless. Drew.
