Its a Good Workhorse – I have just clocked up 5500 kilometres in six weeks of ownership from new, 75% of that towing a caravan. Amazing low down grunt, great for pulling my caravan out of free camp sites. Tows my two tonne caravan easily at highway speeds and without need for levelling bars, just sits flat. I have ever owned that I can say the AC is too cold, and that was in SW QLD where temperatures were 45C degrees day after day. I was also impressed with the coolant temperature on those hot days. While towing the van the temperature gauge sat below half, same as when the car is not towing. However, the car does lack some sophistication. It is a fairly bumpy ride, although takes potholes well. The seats are not too comfortable and lacks supports. For a large car there should be more storage, especially for phones etc. GPS mapping is setiously out of date and lacking in the POI department, yet Holden say I have the most recent update and there is no ability to download an upgrade from the Holden website.

So, bottom line...far cheaper than most 4WD SUVs capable of towing 3000kg. Reasonably stylish, seems like a good strong engine. Hasnt faulted me in 5000klm of towing, tows easily. Yeah, I think the Holden Trailblazer is a reasonably good workhorse.

value for money especially when it came to reliability and operatibility. Since owning the car we have had nothing but dramas; 1. 4WD mode gives a loud cluncking from the transmission- we can't even get across our backyard without losing power and getting bogged. 2. One occasion where I returned home and locked the car, only to find out the cars power management system and fuse box Chernobyled and we lost use of the car for almost a week due to "unknown" issues that required another trailblazer from the dealership to be stripped of the fuse box and other "assorted" electrical parts. 3. Several times this has occurred: Total Dashboard power failure follwed by loss of control of the car and then the car returning to limp mode. THe last occasion happened on the Great Northern Highway (WA) resulting in a road train almost ramming us due to this fault. We have been told it was rodents eating the cables in the car, through to unknown error codes and are still waiting to hear back about this issue (I did mention the DPF may be an issue as others on other review sites have mentioned). It is now week 2 and we have no answer. I have lost all faith in Holden and its products, and if I were to chose again would have settled for an Isuzu or anything that has been proven over and over rather than a rebadged chev that has more issues than the Kardashians.

2 year review after 35,000km – Fantastic car. I preferred the Everest on test drive but for $12,000 saving went with the trailblazer. Tried the Pajero sport but felt cramped. Holden and they immediately fixed both no questions with pretty good service. Took a return trip with the window. At this stage I was a bit nervous I should have gone the extra $ for the Everest or prado. Since then it's been faultless. Tow a trailer regularly on trips. 4wd adventures to Dirk Hartog Coral Bay Denmark Kalbarri and Lancelin have all been spectacular. Have kept stock tyres. Got bogged once in Coral Bay with driver error. Car has performed brilliantly in soft sand dunes and rocky trails. The extra extra power and torque over competitors is great and being slightly lighter than prado and Everest this is noticeable in 4wd performance on the sand. Haven't missed a rear diff lock. Drives now as well as day 1. Cabin features I love: Collision alert and rear traffic alert for safety and helpfulness Holden link screen is easy to use and slight angle ledge to screen means touch screen is easy on the move. Seats work well for me - I know some say firm and flat - I like this Rear access and seat up and down mechanics are superb. I use this a lot with regular use of 7 seats and then all flat for surfboards. Rear compartment great for tools snatch strap shackles etc The open compartment on the dash is spot on for sunnies and an apple Get the dash mounted cup holders thrown in. They're awesome. Your drink is right where you need it on your right hand. Cabin features I don't like: Would love another usb in front and one in back Centre console small Centre cup holders small and rear one set back - get the dash ones and you'll be very happy. Centre ones are worst I've used. Although good for a 375ml can if you need a perfect fit so could really suit some. Cans don't rock and rattle. On road performance is good. I get 10l/100km in the city commute. As good as 6-7 touring. Got 12l/100km on a 200km 4wd on dirk Hartog island sand rocks and dunes which was impressive I think. Slight diesel lag on take off but find better than other diesels I've owned. Reverse camera and reversing sensors are spot on. Electric steering means steering this is best of any car I've owned. Dang wish my land rover series 3 had this back in the 90s! Previously I've owned a land cruiser , hilux, Pajero, escape, and jackaroo. This is my favourite by a long shot when taking on and off-road into account. Land cruiser was obviously better off-road and my wife's v6 petrol Sorrento is better on road but this trailblazer totally hits the sweet spot best off both worlds. Hope this helped. recent trip – Recently returned to nsw mid North Coast from Gulf and Nth Qld trip in recently purchased Trailblazer and Concept 18 ft van. through the trip. Problem solved . Power wise and comfort wise this vehicle beats anything I have previously owned. Best of all was the economy at 11.4 average with caravan hitched up over 80% of the journey.

Great city/country vehicle – Ok, I am a die hard hsv/Holden owner. So I was very reluctant to get a vehicle constructed o/s, which are all substandard to the old hsv vehicles IMO. I will inherit Calais and keep the grange up on blocks. After looking at all possible 7 seaters on the market I settled on the base model holden trailblazer lt. Anyway, in start, body and summary, the car is great for highway, city and off road driving applications. Fuel efficient and has a huge amount of torque. Highly recommend, even if it is not made in Elizabeth, south Australia! Great versatile vehicle.

Rock solid build, great on highway, poor turning abilities, poor visibility – Bough a second hand 2015 colorado 7 it's a great car to drive but it comes with a couple of major down falls. abilities and its turning circle is even worse. We had a very unpleasant accelerator pedal problem, that gave us a sore foot and leg on the pushing motion, not sure what that was about, we had the mechanic look at it but it seemed that problem could not be fixed, eventually that's why we got rid of it. Mechanical it's diesel engine us flawless, the only negative is its inability to take off when you need it to be a bit speedy. So with more than 220000km on the clock this car still service at a low cost, only had the diesel enjectors cleaned once. The thing we disliked the most is how stiff the body of the car was and how bumpy and poor it responded to rough road surfaces, not pleasant at all. So I can only give it one star on the ground of the poor visibility, poor handling and steering and its stiff body. Could I recommend this car to anyone? The answer would be No.

Terrible seats – We purchased the ltz in 2016 and had some minor issues. The windows function which open to help when closing the door failed. Great when it is raining!!! But the biggest disappointment is the lack of support in the seats. We both get back aches and there is not enough support under your knees. Great to tow with and drive but comfort comes first. OK but not great – Vehicle now has 76000km on it, mostly on road & no towing, so easy life. No issues with motor, fuel consumtion as expected, handles well for a 4x4 wagon. Leather in front seats cracks and peels after little use, this is not covered by Holden warranty as it is considered wear and tear. ( Fit Seat covers)

Spare wheel is not full size & foam filled, getting a flat is never good situation to be in, but a lot worse in a LTZ.

This is the early model Colorado 7, Holden have had time to correct some of the issues mentioned and believe they have with the later models.

Flawless except for the tow bar issue – I bought a Trailblazer Col 7 2016 and it has been amazing, I have done 100,000 km in two years and still drives like it is brand new...powerful, good on fuel, and super comfortable. off...drives me nuts. Holden just flog me off, Wollongong Holden in Fairy Meadow is the worst. Their solution, just take your tow bar set up off? serious, i am constantly hooking on trailers, vans etc. Anyway, love it love it.

will tow a large van or trailer at a hundred k with no effort it has all the features you would require in a car and more. The Bluetooth and GPS performed without a hitch and air con was great. They say it does not have a diff lock, not true, it has, but it works different to others. Off roaders seam to think that if they don't have a button to push it's no good, all that counts is that it works. If I have a problem with it it will be the position of the USB port in the centre console, if you drop something heavy into it you would damage things, the USB needs to go into the dash somewhere but that's just nitpicking. Overall this vehicle is tops with me it never even looked like going wrong and I don't treat my cars gently.

Can't fault it so far – So far can't fault this car I have read all the reviews on this vehicle and I fined that all of the negativity pointed at it is untrue. It is smooth on the road it is quiet it is powerful it is comfortable and I would recommend it to anyone. This vehicle has come of age if you are in the market for a vehicle that will do almost anything at a budget price do yourself a favour and go for a test drive.  Show details

cant beat the value for money in this car. All the features you could ask for and plenty of power out of the duramax.

Would have been nice if it came stock with some all terrains, but with new tyres and a 2 inch lift, this is a great off road vehicle as well.

I love my car! – Best car we could have chosen. 7 seats and all 7 seats comfortable. Us adults often climb in the back. Can fit 3 car seats along 2nd row easy. Cheap to run and servicing cheap as well. This car has never let us down. My favourite cosmetic fesature is the heated car seats makes the cold trip to work easier. The only problem we have had with the car is the usb port is in the centre concoul and can get knocked and damaged easily!!!  Show details

tyres going nowhere and were winched off the second time. The problem was clearance so a good high profile all terrain tyre and a few bucks on a lift kit will solve that off road problem. Over all we are very happy with our purchase.

I wouldn't buy it as a city SUV, because it drives like a big 4wd. The Holden factory accessories are extremely expensive and for me are priced way out of the market. There can be significant acceleration lag in some circumstances.

It's ok – I find it a bit gutless especially up hills..it's very economical though and roomy and comfortable. We do lots of driving and have even slept in our car and find its good but would love it to be more powerful. We use manual override function quite a bit and that helps.  Show details

Auto transmission – The auto in this is flaring terribly and although the service manager at a dealership that I bought it from has experienced it with my car and others has been unable to find out if it is a problem across the board. This problem and it is a problem needs sorting before anyone buys one of these especially if you plan to tow anything because it is even more extreme.  Show details

an ARB air compressor under passenger seat, roof racks, tow bar, bonnet protector and floor mats throughout for a smidge under $50K.

We've now done just over 50,000kms, 50% of which was towing the van. We got between 15 to 20 litres per 100kms whilst towing depending on the wind and hills we were driving in. Without towing, it's around 10 litres per 100kms. We also had a Harrop performance upgrade which was done in house by Holden so it didn't effect our warranty. This increased our Torque and KW by around 25%

Driving wise, it's been better than expected both onroad and offroad.

Negatives - The sat nav which you download onto your phone via an app takes ages to load when you start the vehicle and when I emailed the customer service team of the company 3 or 4 times about how we could share the app between two different phones, I never even got an acknowledgement so I now use a Garmin Sat Nav instead.

Some of the plastic within the interior is a bit thin and flimsy and feels a bit cheap.

We also blew the clamp off the air intake hose 50kms into our trip around Australia on Brookton Highway just outside Perth and lost all power. Our Holden dealer sent the mechanic out to us with the brand new model and swapped hoses and clamps with that one. It's something they were aware of as it had happened on other vehicles of the same model but they hadn't issued a recall as "The powers that be" didn't deem it a safety issue! I beg to differ because if I'm in an overtaking manouvre and this had happened, it could have caused a major accident and if I had been in a remote area on 40 degree day with kids in the car, that could also be catastrophic!

Overall, I still feel it's one of the best value for money 4WD's and because we were traveling Australia for 1 year and looking at keeping the vehicle for school runs down the road and other holidays, the 5 year warranty was the clincher!

If you have a technology focus - don't purchase – Vehicle looks good inside and out. Very comfortable and nicely appointed. Have not had it off road as yet, but all the professional reviews state this is where the vehicle excels, along with it's towing capacity. control, reversing camera, computer driving assists, etc. but it is let down badly by the infotainment system, especially GPS, it is very basic - Bringo, and needs to connect to Android or Apple smart phone. Usable apps are very limited and the Infotainment system cannot make use of the phone apps, despite the advice in the handbook. This is unacceptable. I think that it is insulting to offer GPS (Bringo) in a top of the range Trailblazer. It requires an initial purchase for a trial period and then payment of a further licence charge - for each separate phone user! I refuse and will revert to Google maps on my phone. (Thus distracting me from paying attention to my driving, which Holden make a big safety issue for Bringo.) All I have is a very expensive car radio. Holden support have no answers and simply direct me to their website which simply states that the infotainment system cannot be upgraded. Apparently this issue (and others) have been rectified in the 2017 model. I have never had GPS in any of my vehicles before, so this has been a big disappointment for me.

Maybe I am being over critical, and I should be thankful that I have a very good 4x4 at a good price in comparison to the competition.

I DON'T GET THE COMPLAINTS – Mine's a work lease vehicle. I've had it for two years and 70000Km and the thing has never missed a beat. Surprised – Traded the much Loved D.Max. Only because of the dealers. (Isuzu) what a surprise tows 2.8 tonne bueatifully. Much more torque, 6 speed auto lets you use cruise much more. Love it, no regrets – Sitting at Holden now getting the 30k service. Have owned it for a year, haven't had a problem at all averages 10l per 100km. Haven't towed yet. Did some basic 4x4ing it went well. Only complaint is engine is a little noisier than other diesels, like the vw 4x4, but I'd buy again  Show details

Number plates in river crossings – Has anyone else had this problem? Our organisation runs three Colorados and in river crossings (which we must do) we have now lost two number plates and have come close to losing three - the third one was bent up which explains why the first two were lost - the thread was stripped out. With no frame for the number plate the attachment relies on only two screws. Gets very expensive to replace.  Show details

Entire sales team complain about this car – I work for a big company. Our sales reps drive Colorados. All of them have had minor to major issues at one stage. They are terribly uncomfortable and unreliable. Smoke from the engine, oil leaks, two engine replacements, blown hoses. off road with upto 2t with only issue being I forget the trailer is there when on road. I would buy another tomorrow.

Awesome worth every penny – Brought in August 2013 it's rows boats trailer and a caravan jayco 2.5 tonne loaded probably more than 3 tonne never had an issue love it I fact brought another 2015 model for the boat and have done off-roading so I recommend this vehicle to anyone who needs seat eg kids and needs towing capacity.
