AAMI worst of the worst.

AAMI is a disgrace. Do not under any circumstances obtain a policy through this organisation as you will not realise any level of satisfaction should you ever have to make a claim. Something to also take into consideration is that AAMI is underwritten by Suncorp so it would be my submission that both are cut from the cloth. If you wish to read on I will detail my AAMI claim experience to you.

In November of 2012 QLD was hit by a series of severe storms resulting in flooding. Damage to prop... Read more

AAMI House and Content Insurance

Having recently claimed for house & content for the first time since we took out insurance 10 years ago, AAMI left us disgusted and frustrated with the length of time and the outcome of the claim. Depsite the claim being no fault of our own, AAMI added to our stress levels. We continually had to call them to find out the state of our claim, we hardly ever spoke to our Claims Manager but was put through to several different people in which we had to retell our story over and over again. We wer... Read more

Home insurance claim that was accepted only on condition that you accept a dodgy offer from them, when we questioned the amount they tried to say that it wasn't covered. It has taken almost a year and cost us $4000 in legal fees, i have yet to receive a response. What ever you do, do not insure with the Suncorp group of companies, unless you want cheap insurance, and that's exactly what it is.

- It was wrong from start to finish, they have their advocate engineers and dodgy group of trades that quote.

We had a burglary in late October and are still waiting for AAMI to finalise. Luckily only a few pieces of jewellery, with not much financial value although lots of sentimental value was stolen, + an old Ipod. The money is not the issue, the sentimental value is irreplaceable.

Initially AAMI constantly asked us for photos of the items which we did not have and implying that, because we didn't, we were lying. The thief/thieves left more valuable stuff [which police stated is often t... Read more

After a burglary a few years ago, we had the misfortune to have to claim with AAMI. What a debacle! The assessor appeared to listen to our woes, then chose a husband and wife "handyman" team- like a Jim's handyman franchise!!! The cheapest option for them. Our beautiful french doors made of cedar they repaired with cheap pine, made errors with the locks that they just bogged. They used warped timbers on our back doors and caused much more stress than the actual burglary. My camera had been s... Read more

+ Seems a good deal until you claim.

We have been with AAMI the past year and had a claim each on home and contents. Was very satisfied with the service and time it took for repairs/ replacement although they could improve on the "getting back" aspect. I had to call a few times and hold but found a better way by writing an email for them to call me once the claim was lodged. Its time for renewal now but sadly their premium is way higher than another company's so we are thinking of changing...

+ Easy claim procedure

- Renewal Premium not competetive
