This was one of the worst service experiences I have had. We trusted this company to manage our interstate move from Sydney to Melbourne with care, and instead we were left dealing with damaged belongings, poor handling, and a very frustrating insurance process. The most serious issue was our Samsung television, which had been insured for $3,000… Read more

under the electronic items component of the policy. It was in perfect working condition before uplift, and even their supervisor photographed it at pickup with no defects noted. On delivery, the screen showed a white glow consistent with internal panel fracture from physical impact, and one of the TV legs was broken. This was obvious transit damage while the item was in their custody. Despite that, the claim was pushed back on the basis of “mechanical and electrical derangement,” which completely ignored the visible physical damage. That distinction was never clearly explained during the pre-move consultation, despite us being guided through the insurance process for over an hour. In the end, after all the stress and back-and-forth, we only recovered about $2,000, which covered the damaged lamps and TV only partially and nowhere near the true extent of what was lost and damaged.

Unfortunately, the TV was not the only issue. Several other items were returned in a condition that showed a clear lack of care. Our bicycle was damaged. Most of our plants, which we had specifically identified as extremely precious and were assured would be handled carefully, were returned damaged. Packing and unpacking standards were shockingly poor: a kitchen chopping board was packed together with shoes and developed mould, a computer docking station was placed inside a wet kitchen sink during unpacking, and an ottoman was packed with detergent powder and came back heavily contaminated. Handbags, books, art pieces, toys and other household items were also damaged.

This was not bad luck or a minor oversight. It reflected poor packing, careless handling, and inadequate unpacking practices throughout the move. The financial loss was significant, but so was the stress of seeing valuable and sentimental belongings treated so poorly.

What made the experience worse was the way the insurance issue was handled. Rather than taking responsibility for obvious physical transit damage, the response focused on technical policy wording that was never properly explained upfront. That may suit the company’s internal process, but from a customer perspective it felt like an attempt to avoid paying a legitimate claim.

I would not use this company again and would not recommend them to anyone moving valuable household belongings interstate. Based on our experience, the service did not match the level of care, professionalism, or accountability that was promised.

$40k worth of damage. Their insurance would only cover a small amount of this. The people packing had so experience or training - the customer service women told us this in an email. They packed stuff that was going to be questioned by customs, but… Read more

never said to us that there could be a problem with these items. We paid professionals and got cr#p. The operations manager told me we had to expect some damage, you can't transport house load of items and have no damage. They felt $40k damage wasn't all that bad for a house load. So kind of tells you everything you need to know abut the stander they work to. They indicated a six-week door to door, it took six weeks to get it on a ship. What the sells consultant offered is not what eh Operations manger could deliver. When i asked for this to be investigated (as part of ISO it's a requirement), nothing happened, To make it worse they were promoting have ISO standards

They packed empty or nearly empty cleaning products, we were told no cleaning products could go across, we didn’t want them packed. Had delivery of our furniture on 23/12/25 by Launceston branch of Allied Movers. The process was going well until the young male plugged the fridge in to the wall in the garage. I watched him and thought he seemed to be wrestling the plug into the wall. They advised us to give the fridge at least 20-30 minutes before turning on. We were moving… Read more

boxes and items around and never thought to look at the electrical plug. A couple hours later we tried turning the fridge on with no success. I noticed one of the pins from the electrical plug sitting on the floor directly under the plug. I removed the plug and one of the pins had snapped off and was still sitting in the socket and the 3rd pin was badly bent. The removalist made no mention of any damage to the pin before he plugged it in, nor any mention of the damage after he plugged it in. I contacted Allied Movers Launceston office and was advised to send them an email of the damage and the pin which I did. After a period of time and contacting them to see what was going on they finally advised that because we had not taken out any transit insurance, they were not going to cover any damage and that was the end of it for them. I reached out to the Dept. of Justice and made a formal complaint. They have just advised me that after consultation Allied Movers would not consider repair of the damage because they couldn’t confirm status of the plug before uplift and it could have already been slightly bent beforehand. If this was correct, which it isn’t, why did the removalist plug in a faulty plug without saying anything and why was one pin snapped off and sitting on the floor under the socket? What should have been a good review after good service from the guys who initially loaded the container, was ruined by disgraceful arrogant management practice. This should have been identified to us as either the pin was damaged and he could not plug it in, or he told us he damaged it whilst he plugged it in. It should have been an easy fix. We will not use Allied ever again as a result and I strongly suggest you reconsider Allied Launceston before you make your move with them.

We moved an entire household with car from WA to NZ in 2024. Due to circumstances we then had to move it all back in 2025. Moving from NZ with Allied started well with the same service as WA. However, the packing team had some issues as they seemed overwhelmed with the pack - despite labelling several things "STAY" with yellow stickers, they… Read more

packed them, etc. Anyway, the real problems started when we were unpacking. Firstly, if you have over 200 items and boxes (plus a car) it is going to take a while to unload. You can't just pop it in a corner and then check it. So, everything was unpacked, my hubby signed for delivery (I was working) and then we started unpacking. It took a week or two to unpack things and check. In that time we noticed several items broken (they had dropped a chest that has caster wheels and one wheel was broekn, etc. OK, this happens. Then we found 2 big gym mats missing (over $300 worth). THEN... we unpacked the bicycles - it was a tragedy! Seriously I cried. The bikes had not been properly packed and were damaged. We had to get a bike mechanic to fix them up - all 5! Naturally he had to do safety checks. Allied (who is the company you actually pay for Allied services - SIRVA) have refused to pay for the mats because we signed for delivery. They are also refusing to pay for the safety checks on the bikes. In all honesty, I have moved internationally 5 times in my life and this was the absolute worst experience I have had. If moving from New Zealand, do not use Allied. Moving Aus to NZ was ironically the best experience I have had.

I have used Allied interstate twice now, and both times I was very happy with the move. I did my own packing using almost all double walled boxes (I highly recommend spending the extra on these). My first move was from Brisbane to Melbourne and then from Melbourne to Sydney. Both excellent experiences. For the Melbourne to Sydney move Cameron… Read more

Walsh came out to do an inspection to gain an understanding of what items we had to move and estimated the cubic meterage very well. The team that came to do the inventory and then the move were really energetic, strong and fun to chat with. It was all moved and packed into the container really efficiently and quickly. I can 100% recommend them for a house move. I will state again that I did my own packing and used double walled boxes. I also wrapped all my furniture myself to give it extra protection as well as they used blankets in the container too. I had zero issues with my move. As someone who has moved more times than you can imagine, always start packing way earlier than you think as it always takes longer than expected.

Extremely disappointing experience — major drop in quality We recently moved from Sunshine Coast to the Gold Coast and sadly, our experience with Allied Moving Services fell far below expectations — especially after multiple great moves with them in the past, including overseas. To give credit where it’s due: • [Name Removed] (sales – Sunshine… Read more

Coast) was fantastic — responsive, professional, and always picked up the phone. • [Name Removed] (operations) has been very helpful and is clearly trying to pick up the slack from the wider service issues.

However, the rest of the experience was incredibly frustrating:

• They lost the notes about our moving day arrangements and told me that if I couldn’t remember who called me, there was nothing they could check — completely dismissive. • Monday delivery never happened — although they worked hard to get it to us Tuesday, the communication and planning fell apart. • After unpacking, we discovered damaged and dirty belongings: dents in the fridge, a damaged dryer, handprints all over the TV, dirty marks on white linen, and white couches not wrapped during transport. • Boxes were not properly organised — clothes mixed with office items and electronics. • On moving day, the team played loud music in the neighbourhood at 7:30am and left Red Bull cans on the kerb — very unprofessional. • When I called about box collection, I was told they’d call sometime next week when “they were around” — which is impossible to plan for when working full-time. After insisting, they finally offered Monday as a pickup date — making it sound like a favour, even though this should be standard.

After previously trusting Allied for major relocations, it’s extremely disappointing to see such a sharp decline in care, professionalism, and organisation. I truly hope they address these issues — because right now, I cannot recommend them.

The team were fabulous, they were organized, polite , careful with our home and boxes, they actively listened to our needs, asked questions when in doubt & really worked as one team with us. We had a lot of things to move across the country & Allied did that with care & great skill & communication at a read price.

had fallen during transport. As a result, several of my furniture items were damaged. My belongings were in good condition before the move, so this clearly happened during handling or transportation.

What upset me even more was the response from the company. When I raised the issue, they refused to properly review the situation and told me to fix everything myself. There was no accountability, no proper investigation, and no support offered.

Moving interstate is already stressful, and this situation made it much worse. This has been the worst moving service experience I have had in Australia. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this company to anyone.

Follow-up  · After multiple attempts alliance movers pay me the compensation. Thank fod.

There was rushing and stress right from the start. My 3 bedroom villa was to be packed, stored and then unpacked when delivered to my new address. do all the packing. He worked hard and continuously all day, but of course did not complete the packing. The next day a team was sent to pack the van, and were not well pleased to find that they had to complete the packing that had not been able to be finished the previous day. It was all rushed as they had other jobs they had to go to. They hurriedly threw things into boxes, not taking the time to label them properly. I paid for 3 months' storage and insurance in Sydney. As in the contract, I was able to call for delivery at a time of my choice, I called for delivery after 6 weeks. I was surprised to be told that the truck would arrive between 12 and 2, leaving inadequate time to do the unpacking that I had paid for. It arrived at midday. The staff worked continuously, but because of the late start, were unable to complete the unpacking by knock-off time. When the very professional team leader phoned in to the office I was told that I would have to unpack the rest of it myself, despite having paid for it to be done. I took the phone and had a discussion and was told that unpacking was complimentary - I said that I had paid lots of money for that compliment! I insisted that they were obliged to complete their side of the business contract. They reluctantly sent out 2 men the following day, who were also rushing to get to another job. They did, however, complete all the unpacking that I required. There was minimal breakage and some furniture was scuffed, but not worth claiming on. I tried to get my refund and was given a caution that I would have to pay an access fee as the van had had to park illegally in the street at the kerb right outside my apartment block. The movers had to carry my goods from the kerb outside, through the front doors to a lift right adjacent to my apartment, and some to a storage container just metres from the lift. There was no carrying up any stairs. Part of my liability for access, according to them is that "there was still a tramp into between the truck to the front door of the apartment that exceeded 25m - that is simply not true! The delivery occurred on 14 November 2025 and there has as yet been no refund. The storage co-ordinator had to enquire from Finance. After some enquiries, the message from Finance was relayed to me on the Wednesday that the amount would be reflected in my bank account on next Tuesday, nearly a week later, ie. today, 23 December 2025 and making some apology about what a busy time of year this is! Yes, for me too. No sign of the refund reflected in my bank account when I checked today. I sent the storage co-ordinator an email to that effect and requesting the name and contact of the CEO as I wished to escalate this appalling experience I am having - received no reply so tried to phone - got VM as "there is no-one to receive your call". All now on holiday, I expect, and the delay continues.......into the new year. I have moved many times in my life, including intercontinentally, and this has been the worst, the most stressful, from start to finish. And no, I would certainly not recommend them to anyone I cared about!!
