Good but – I've owned mine for over a year. I got lots of music and it has been gradually filling up. I think it doesn't like being used to its capacity. Lately every time I connect it to itunes the ipod and/or itunes freeze and needs to be reset. Very annoying and time consuming. I usually play it on my I groove (excellent BTW) so can't comment on battery life. 160GB space playing up when used to capacity, easyly scratched

Good – The best ipod yet for sound quality and storage. Easy to use and take anywhere. The price tag is still a little bit high for what you get. Users need to keep updating to the lastest version of iTune software. If you want take your entire music library with you then the ipod classic is an excellent choice. Simple and easy to use interface.… Read more

Excellent battery life - 36 hours of audio playback and six hours for video and doesn't long to charge up. Best sound quality among other ipod. Small size for a massive 160GB storage that can also be used to store photos and videos. Highest Volume is not loud enough. Users are limited to iTune music transfer. Price is a bit high.

Excellent – I've now had this iPod for about three months and I use it almost every day when cycling, in the car with a Griffin iTrip (my oldish car's radio has no ports to plug things into it), and at home with my sound system. I'm also looking for a way to use it with my motorbikes, but at the moment, the wind noise is too loud at highway speeds. I… Read more

haven't loaded any video onto my iPod yet so I can't comment on it as a viewing platform, but I would say that I personally wouldn't have the patience to watch anything but small clips on that little screen.

I'm an old git and a bit of a Luddite when it comes to new-fangled stuff like this, but I must confess that the iPod is the one gadget I've bought that I get most use and pleasure from. Overall I'm very pleased with this purchase. 1. 160GB of space - room for almost my entire CD and vinyl collection. 2. Like most Apple products (except iTunes software), it's beautifully designed and intuitive to use. 3. Now I can carry around hundreds of photos of my grand-children to bore my friends! 1. I don't like having to manage my content with iTunes, which is a pain to use. 2. Easily scratched, but being aware of this in advance, I bought a neat little 'sock' for mine, which includes a tough film for the screen (About $20, I think).

Good – 160GB of space means there is room for my entire collection. I'm impressed by the design of the Apple Ipod, it's very easy to use. There is a vast availability of accessory options and I have purchased a docking system for work, where I can play music and relax. I also take it to the gym and walking, using an arm strap - this way I can tune out… Read more

wherever I am. I'm not too impressed by the cost of songs on Itunes though. Great amount of space, stylish and modern. Availability of accessory options. Scratches far too easily, comes with really bad head phones. Have to use Itunes which is expensive.

Excellent – Great device that offers playback of most media. It is fantastic to block the noise on your daily commute to work, your daily run and the times when you want to just chill out. I use mine everyday. Extremely portable and screen is just big enough to enjoy short videos. The click wheel is always responsive and navigation to access albums, songs and… Read more

videos is extremely easy. The headphones do not give your music any justice at all - buy new ones immediately! The sound is flat from the generic ones issued with the ipod. The equaliser is not very good and distorts the bass on bass-heavy songs - depending on setting (e.g. Hip-hop, rock and classical). I found a work around - which was to lower the volume of the song that is affected in itunes. I wouldn't do that because the volume levels of all the song will disrupt my listening pleasure.

Excellent – The new classic is a different media player which can do everything you need and at a price from under $300 it is absolutely a great value product when compared to others. I purchased one and I have no regrets in getting it. The simple user interface and design is absolutely great. There is a huge hard drive to store thousands of songs and the… Read more

video quality is magnificent too. The audio quality is also decent and is very crisp. One major issue with it is that the battery life isn't the best from what I have heard - it starts to degrade soon after purchase.

Good – I am very happy with the iPod. Besides the massive chore of converting all of my music into MP3s it has been hassle free. I use it every day on the bus to work and at the gym and wouldn't be without it. Recently went on a big road trip and bought a Belkin TunecastII to take along, it worked a treat. No more sifting thru CDs and scanning for radio… Read more

stations. Would recommend, but get a decent case for it. Ability to load entire music collection onto it.

Take it any where and have all of your music.

Great for road trips.

Lots of optional extras to choose from Charge doesn't last quite as long as expected. Sealed unit means expensive operation to change the battery. Radio tuner is not included

Good – The Apple iPod is a nifty little device. The 30GB or 80GB sizes are pretty hefty, and allow thousands if not over ten-thousand songs to be stored on them. The menu and buttons are fairly intuitive. I find it portable (able to easily fit it in your pocket) and it is nice and thin. The battery does degrade over time, and the charger aspect is… Read more

awkward. I know there are some car cradles for these (which allow charging) and I think I am going to get one of them. Small and thin. Great device to play MP3's from. Easy to slip into your pocket. Battery life degrades over time, and it's awkward to charge.

Good – This is one of the things that I have bought that I get the most use out of. I have an massive number of songs and ten years of family photographs stored on it and it still has some space to go. The downside of so much storage is that you sometimes collect garbage. That is my fault and not a fault of the Ipod. The screen is nice and big for… Read more

selecting songs but not large enough to view videos on. The one downside is how easy it is to scratch the back of the case and the clickwheel. I had the Ipod only for three days when I accidently put it in my pocket with my car keys. I realised my mistake around 10 seconds later but it was too late. The click wheel had deep grooves in it. Aside from that it is a great device. Great sound, awesome storage capacity, lovely screen Too easy to scratch front and back

Excellent – I love it i wouldn't change it for any other mp3 player. Its easy and intuitive, perfect addition to car sound system Its fantastic lot of space for music, music videos, movies, games etc. great combined with PS3 easy to watch movies on TV. I dont really like ITunes to manage my Ipod. Polished silver back of the Ipod can be really easy scratched.

OK – Great mp3 player, with large capacity hard drive and battery. It's fairly thin and looks pretty good. But the polished back scratches very very easily, and quickly turns a dull grey. The battery doesn't maintain it's capacity for very long before it starts degrading. Firewire connections, available in earlier models, do not work for this iPod,… Read more

which uses the slower USB. This means that cables purchased for older iPods won't work for this one. Cases for older iPods will also be useless. They made a fairly pointless change to case shape and then repositioned the buttons, which makes older cases useless. Good screen and fairly easy to use controls. Slim design. Rapidly degenerating battery. Removal of features available in earlier model, lack of compatability.

Good – Overall, I'm really happy with it. Really great for those long CityRail train journeys! Lots of space to keep all my songs, easy to use, nice and portable. Auggghhhh - the battery recharging is a f*cking pain in the butt. And putting everything into MP3 form is a time consuming exercise.

Excellent – 80 GB= This iPod has heaps of room for movies, photo's and music. The sound is great and it is really easy to use. Good – The Ipod ends up making day-to-day menial tasks so much more entertaining. The software has lots of bugs which can get annoying and it is impossible to fix if broken, but fact the Ipod is so readily available and easy to carry around makes it worth it. Easy to use, insanely large storage, lots of extra features, super portable, and great… Read more

accessories. Sturdy, I have dropped mine quite a few times without any serious damage. The album covers slowed it down and made it freeze for a couple of seconds, so that's a useless extra. The software(itunes) is annoying and loaded with bugs and all the blocks they put on to stop pirating or copying can end up affecting people who make honest mistakes.

Good – Great for travelling as long as you have a power source, although sometimes it won't recharge using a generic usb 12volt recharger. The 80GB memory is great as you can store all of your music and a lot of movies and photos on it as well. I have the 80GB model. Large capacity, construction quality, menu wheel is great to use (although some people… Read more

don't like it). Good sound quality and good screen quality. Lots of accessories. Poor battery life when watching videos (lucky to get two movies out of a battery). iTunes software is a pain in the butt when trying to manage the content and this is the only way to manage the content (hooked up to a computer), small screen. If you remove a file from the location the ipod expects it to be stored on the computer then you can't remove the same file from the ipod, it will only do it through a sync.

OK – It is very good for a mp3. You can watch movies on the iPod and play games and etc. It has nice memory for a mp3. It has a great scroll wheel. It comes out in many colors you can choose from. 20GB memory which is a lot if you just listen to music. It sometimes gets a bit faulty after awhile. The battery has a short life span which is very annoying because if you want to buy another battery its expensive. The earphones are very poor quality and gets dirty easily.

Good – The large capacity, coloured screen, the long life worth of battery and the price it is at you would buy it as soon as you see it. You cannot believe how much people would like to say about this product. Firstly you would find that the large capacity it has is wonderful for you to be able to put alot of wideos and plenty of songs. Since it is… Read more

OK – In most ways, this is much like all the more recent models of iPod, but there are a couple of key differences: I've had mine for over three years, and yet it still works. But the newer models aren't expected to last much beyond their warranty expiration. The latest models have removed the one thing iPod really had going for it: firewire… Read more

connection. The stats put out show USB 2.0 being slightly faster, but when I connect my old iPod with firewire, my song transfers are much faster than the newer iPods manage on USB.

But like all iPods, those amazing batteries they come with just don't last. A few hundred charges and you won't be getting half of the original running time. Replacements are expensive, and while you can buy ones to install yourselves and cut the cost, the tools coming with these to open the iPods usually do a lot of damage to the case. More reliable than some of the more recent iPods.

Firewire/USB connection instead of just USB. Batteries degenerate very quickly.

OK – ovr all i think the i pod is aight but i didnt expect much more than what it does. what could be improved is the back covering it is so easyly scratched its not funny. Good – Unit is very versitile and quite compact. I find the earphones quite good contrary to whay I hear and I found the quality good. Bought a couple for my daughters and it has kept them entertained in the car.. Finally get to listen to my radio station. 2nd unit HDD failed after around 2 months. Local agent arranged for a replacement okay.

Bad – Great sound and potential. Rapidly loses it's robustness after 7mths with battery and then software. Hope these can be ironed out and the addition of a digital screen for MPEG's/ JPEGs would be great. Not inclined to buy a 2nd version if for sound only, and hesitant based on quality at this stage. Exceeded my expectations on sound quality -… Read more

just dissapointing that I have returned 2 within 12 months and now waiting 4 weeks so far to be advised I'll wait another 3-4 for availability for a replacement. Dealing direct with Apple was below my expectations - they were concerned with making new sales and not servicing existing customers Excellent MP3 Engine - was amazed at the depth and quality - especially with Bose Headphones. Apple's supplied were superior quality for general use. Flexible unit for my soundcard, 5.1 speaker unit and car. Recommend the sound quality.

Still havenet used 20GB - More than enough for me, and have tried the HD Capability with MPEG's and document storage - good Have returned 2 Ipods within the initial 12 Month Warranty period to Apple Centre Chatswood. Service administration has caused delays in processing by losing proof of purchase twice and now actual 3-4 week Ipod delivery delay.

Ipod freezes and won't access data in both cases.

Battery deterioration at about 6 months on the 1st unit

Good – After trying 4 of JNC's 20GB SSF-M9 player and being utterly disappointed with it, I bought this for the same price and was over the moon with its performance!
