Apple iPod Touch (4th Generation)

angled bottom not very good – Connecting the ipod to a speaker dock, I got into trouble due to the angled bottom and the 30 pin plug on the dock not making proper contact with the ipod. I solved it with buying a dock extender 30 pin adapter which goes in better and makes better contact.

iPod 4 cracks easily – I recently bought an ipod 4th generation and I dropped it on some carpet and the screen cracked. I am very unpleased with this product. I recommend the iPod 5th generation to anyone who i wanting to buy a iPod 4. The RAM it can hold is very little I lagged on playing very simple games. Music Cracks easily, very slow

battery life, like if you listen to music for the whole day, and not do anything else, you will still have around 60 percent battery left. I am looking forward to updating it to the newest generation. beautiful design, cheaper now than before, reliable, good music device crashes a lot.

Great portable game device – The iPod touch is awesome. It is great when you are bored to play games and has great apps to download from the App Store and runs Facebook and other apps like that great. dependable and well constructed by the Chinese! The battery is good for music for at least 24 hours, and a little less when flicking through songs, but that is usual. The battery should last a few years with proper charging, which I have kept to a strict 'charge - run till flat and recharge'. So far I believe that the battery is at its best capacity, however Lithium Polymer batteries dont keep a 'cycle memory', they are prone to overcharging and over cycle charging, where they literally die after too many charges - its only a 929mAh battery in the end of it all...

I use my iPod for online browsing, however find that the screen is a little small and when the buttons are up, logging into 'hotmail' or other sites are a little tedious, especially when using 'Cap's lock' etc. Also editing online webpages is another hair pulling scenario!

The camera of the iPod Touch 4th Gen is absolutely abysmal, the rear camera which I would have thought to be as good as the iPhone 3G or the 3Gs, is nowhere near as good a quality. Its actually 0.7 Megapixle and the forward camera is 0.3 Megapixle. Both take very grainy pictures, and should not be used for anything formal. The picture software internally is also nothing like the iPhone, its simple and basic to use and nothing worth raving about - this is a poor design as it would have been nice to have a decent camera on the iPod!

Otherwise the iPod's App's are fantastic as usual, some are useful and most others are too needy, they always require updates and payment for the 'full' versions. It can be a bit of a game to find some decent ones, but when you do, they are quiet easily accessed and work seamlessly with the iPod. One feature lacking of the iPod Touch 4 Gen, is a magnetic orientation sensor for use with a 'compass', for those that download the compass app, done be surprised that it doesn't work at all.

The settings for the Touch are a little lacking, there is no way to actively move pictures from your computer and 'drag n drop' directly onto the iPod. You have to upload individual folders and these are static on the iPod, which limits privacy and is usually confusing! The settings on the music player is limited also, where you have to close the music player to change the Equaliser. I would have thought that Apple would have changed this to an in player settings menu, even had an option as to directly delete songs from the iPod? You cant access internal folders on the touch, so using the iPod as a storage space for your music is out of the question, however you can add music from a friends iTunes account, but these new songs will not be updated into your personal account, it will only show up on your iPod during sync.

Otherwise, for the Apple iPod Touch, there is a vvvvvvvvvvaaaaaaaaaasssssssssstttttttt plethora of cases, connection cables, earphones and waterproof cases like the Pelicam i1015 case which is a hard case which you can use safely while kayaking, kite surfing etc. I would strongly urge most people to test cases and covers for best fit, prior to purchase due to some being ill fitting and which can interfere with screen protectors etc. I would highly recommend a case as the rear of the iPod is a highly polished stainless steel, which scratches "VERY" easily! Also the screen can shatter when dropped, so a screen protector can and may prevent it shattering in some cases.

All in all, the iPod Touch 32Gig has been a great purchase, however a little costly for what it truly is. For those that dont want a phone that plays music, the iPod Touch would be the best fir for you, but keep in mind that all your WMA music needs to be converted to Apple's own media format, this creates two media folders and doubles up storage needs. Reliable, aesthetic, small, lightweight, plenty of after market products available, after sales support available at Apple shops. Fragile when dropped, poor camera resolutions (especially the rear), battery looses charge quickly when used online and with apps, only converted music will play on iPod not WMA, annoying updates - some which are very large! Headphones which produce great sound tend to twist at every opportunity and are not equal length...

Although the video quality for movies were excellent, the picture quality for FaceTime video calls was a let down. It also facilitates easy access to emails and web browsing without the bulkiness of a tablet. Basically, it provides users the iPhone experience without the monthly bill as it has no 3G capabilities. Fantastic! – This nifty product came into its own during a recent overseas trip. Not only could I access the internet wirelessly and send and receive emails, I could also listen to music and take photos with the camera (the photos in my view were of quite good quality). addition of two cameras is highly appreciated, in particular the video camera which takes good quality videos. It can also connect to wi-fi, which means you can have access to the internet almost anywhere. The design of the iPod is sleek and it is much thinner than I thought it would be. The rear-facing camera is only 0.69 megapixels, has no auto-focus and has no LED flash. The photos are very noisy and are of a very bad quality. Additionally, you cannot use the iPod for disk storage, which is very annoying if you want to use it as a disk drive. Also, you cannot move music/movie files from the iPod to your computer (which is very annoying if you are changing computers and want an easy way to move your music and movie files). Moreover, the metal back of the iPod scratches easily so a case is a must if you want to keep your iPod in good condition.

32 gb and is filled with hundreds of songs, nearly forty movies and TV shows, and too many apps to count, including games, utilities and little things that help me with life.

There are big improvements here, but the subtle ones are not to be missed out.

great. It is an MP3 player, and fits so many songs, depending on the size. It also plays video and you can watch downloaded TV shows on it. It can be connected via wifi so you can check emails and do everything you would do with a computer in mini form pretty much. The app store is extensive and there is endless features to this gadget. Some apps chew up the battery quickly.
