Had a hankering for Sao biscuits with butter, slice of fresh tomato and salt and pepper. Almost broke my teeth on the biscuits. Instead of being the light and fluffy delight I remember, it was hard as a board, about half as thick as before, and alltogether not a nice experience. Show details

Crap as Crap can be – Terrible. The Yank owners literally ripped the huts out of Sao. Thin, bland and just plain horrible. They use to be as the ad sang, Crisp and Light. Now it's cardboard and heavy.

Why ruin something that was so good – I have been eating sao's since I was a child, now I won't buy them, they are terrible, I don't know why they changed them but as I can see they have a lot of unhappy customers that are also now not buying them. I have been buying the cheap Woolworths ones which are half the price but would rather eat my beloved sao's. Everyone that has written a… Read more

review - I have sent an email to Arnotts about this and will advise them of the complaints and screen print this page to send also. hoping people power will get our old sao's back. If anyone else wants to email them the only email address I could find is media@arnotts.com Let's see if we all can make a change.

Hi all, fyi I have attached the responce I have received from Arnotts, they say the recipe has not changed!!! Honestly

Good for dips – We sit down after a days work and enjoy a dip spread on a Sao biscuit. So easy to use so tasty so crispy. Very good value compared to other products in the biscuit range. Show details

Sao biscuits are the best – Sao biscuits continue to be amazing and delicious. Other biscuits like cheds which are awful fail to be even be in the same class as sao's . Cheds should be taken off the market to make place for more sao's

Best Aussie Biscuit – We grew up on these plain biscuits and the generic brands don't come within cooee of being able top this classic. Who doesn't like a Sao with cheese and tomato? Versatile, crisp and the best big biscuit around for snacks, lunches, bases for sweet slices and perfect for school lunches.

No SOS for the iconic SAO – Arnotts has not been an Australian company for many years. It is owned by a US investment conglomerate who doubtless could not care less about what SAOs taste like, look like or crunch like. It's pretty much what every US company does when it comes to food production. Home of the bland, land of the taste-free. Show details

Sao stale – I had Sao biscuits the other day with tomato on top which is something I've done for years. The other day I had it and the Sao tasted so different, certainly harder and they tasted stale, please go back to the original recipe Show details

Saos forever!! – I buy them every week, they still.taste better than other similar style biscuits made by homebrand brands. And my kid won't eat anything else for lunch! They are still great with Vegemite and butter, not as flaky as they used to be, but I wont stop buying them :) Show details

Consumer ripoff – Was once a pleasurable biscuit to have with snack times and parties, now I wouldn't even take the time to click and rate. Why in the hell, when they were so tasty etc, would you change the recipe to something inedible. Seeing all the negative reviews one would think why is it Arnotts don't take them off the market altogether, you still receive our… Read more

purchase dollars without warning. Also please have your staff answering your complaints to be up front and don't try and worm there way out of it with excuses like I was told - they have changed the flour. Very very very very disappointing.

Sao biscuits – Arnotts sao biscuits have been made thinner and are not the same texture, I've eaten them for 50 years but recently threw 3pkts put in disgust ,the pkt stipulates original and they are not ,only original name, they were once an Australian icon up there with Vegemite, why take something that is great and Aussies hold in high regard and give us… Read more

something inferior that I will no longer buy, bring back the real original and let us have a choice of a higher price if it has to be.

Decline of a icon – Just opened a packet of Sao's and what a disappointment. From growing up with Saos, they are nothing like they were. Thinner, not as crispy. Why are Arnotts intent on ruining all of their products. Products that have been around for generations, get deleted so we can have 20 varieties of Tim Tam's and Tee Vee Snacks. Quality is not of the same standard that got Arnotts to where they are Show details

Disappointed Customer – Bought a pack of SAOs today after several years. What a disappointment! They are not only much smaller, they are also thinner, not as flaky, hard and tasteless compared to what they used to be. I'm sure customers would rather pay a bit more for the original SAO quality than pay for an inferior product that no longer meets their expectations. Show details

New SAO cracker – If it isn’t broken don’t fix it. The new SAO biscuits are so not the biscuits we all love and anticipate. Call them something else and please bring back the original crackers.

Sao changed now awful – Why why why! The old SAO we used almost like a slice of bread and used them regularly for lunch. But now they are just like crackers used for nibblies only. Show details

Not the same – I haven't had a Sao for a very long time. Used to love them growing up with cheese, tomato and pickled onions on top. You could always taste the delicious flaky biscuit. Not any more. As others have said, paper thin and tasteless. What a disappointment. Wont be buying again. Show details

What have you done to Saos? – Arnott's have done the same to Saos as they have done to Vita Wheats. They are now paper thin and tasteless. There is an old saying, 'If it ain't broke don't fix it'!! That is another Arnott's product that I will never again purchase! Arnott's had a reputation for being the best but that is most definitely no longer the case. Show details

saos not as the old recipe too hard and tasteless thin and certainly not buttery – Is it because we have become too health concerned that butter has been replaced with vegetable oils or is it cost We all used to love saos and vegemite but not any more. Show details

Sao’s of Old – My memories of the classic sao goes back to when I was a kid,Mum would buy the tin full to take on our camping holidays. They were hard to beat, flaky tasty and delicious with lashings of butter and vegemite on them. As I aged I never lost my love of the sao biscuit…until…they changed the recipe, then they lost me completely.I bet they lost a lot of other people as well. Obviously they never heard of the old saying….”If It Ain’t Broke. Show details

DISAPPOINTING! Nothing like they used to be – Thin, hard, and not that nice air filled crunch. They taste cheap or low quality flour used now. I loved Saos, they were so versatile. I haven’t had them for a number of years, and as they are now, I won’t be buying again Show details
