Love our Asko 6551 machine still going strong after 18 years with a sporty family of 6. 10 out of 10 – Washing machine is quiet. Delayed timer unreal. Easy to operate and 1500 rpm spinner fantastic for lots of towels n bathers n sheets too. Loved the separate rinse & spinner cycles too. Performance was amazing. Show details

Absolute workhorse and still going – We bought our ASKO washing machine W6551 1500rpm in May 2002. Its still going 18 years later and busy 2 adult and 3 sporting kids (household). Serviced every year. I highly recommend ASKO products Show details

Bought second hand, used for a few months and loving it so far – Having used a couple of older Asko washers, both bought 2nd hand, and never having a problem I was keen to get another. This one came up for sale near by and I bought it that night, at 10.30pm! The seller said it made a strange knocking noise when it ran, but he lent it forward on a block of wood and the noise stopped. He'd run it like that ever… Read more

since without problems.

Got it home and looked in the top transport bolt hole, i could see the drum was too far back. Took off the top cover and sure enough the front balancing spring was missing. A quick look around with a torch located the spring in the bottom of the. Replaced the spring, gave everything a clean and the washer hasn't missed a beat since. I really like having the delayed start timer so I can wash over night or during off energy peak times during the day.

purchased in January 2002 - 16 years and still going but needing some help ! – I guess after 16 years of use.. its allowed to get tired, but the display is no longer readable...luckily I remember my most used settings.. but ..suddenly today the display came back at the end of a wash and and I could read it Yay.. :( but then disappeared next wash so I was thinking it might need a good hot wash clean - but I am reluctant the… Read more

fiddle with settings without a manual - and Asko website does not have online :( I saw Ben ask in the questions - does anyone have access to a manual that they could help us out with the settings menu ?? - anyone ? please !

Still going strong after 12 years – So, you are looking to buy a washing machine second-hand. This is the one for you. Incredibly water efficient and great durability. We haven't spent a cent on repairs for 12 years and it has worked hard - with lots and lots of dirty loads - around 20 washes a week - from footy jumpers to smelly underpants to delicates and lingerie. It has… Read more

eight settings (who needs more) and each setting can be configured with a spin speed, number of rinses, temperature and of course the delay option (critical if you are going out and want the clothes to be ready to hang with the machine finishing just as you arrive).

Still going strong!!! – This fantastic machine has been a part of our family for almost 14 years and still going strong and never even had one single repair. Sadly it's time to upgrade to a bigger machine now. I just hope that my new Asko will be as reliable as this one has been.  Show details

Oh Boy - more problems – I'm satisfied with the clean, but my asko looks much older than its years. rusting, broken door, detergent drawer which can't open properly, the list goes on. we look after out items very well, but having read previous comments here i can see we are not the problem. i've had asko technicians out many times - yes, replacing the mother board was… Read more

one of the issues. i spent a lot of money to buy a quality machine - very disappointed. today i have water everywhere, another water outlet fault although nothing to be found to cause a problem. just another bill to pay. or do i buy another brand - you bet!

What is the code to get machine out of demo mode? – Rang Asko direct with no response. Sent an email with enquiry. This resulted in a phone call three days later. The woman from Asko however was unable to help but assured me that another person would call me the next day to help. It's now 4 days since that call and no further contact. So after a week l still have no washing machine & l am almost ready to go purchase another machine but it WON'T be an Asko.

More than 5000 cycles! – Had this machine for 5 years now. Only problems have been bra underwires slipping under drum causing scratching sound, and water inlet valve needing replacement but this is common for most washers. Asko service very friendly and efficient - they obviously know that no-one wants to be without a washing machine for too long. Update: This machine… Read more ·  1

is now almost 15 years old and is still working almost perfectly. The drum is making quite a noise and I think its bearings are going. It's done at least one wash a day, and sometimes up to five per day, so that's in excess of 5000 washes. I think it won't last much longer, but I will be buying another Asko when this one eventually passes away. Only other repair since my original post was a replacement water outlet pump. Great stuff, Asko! Reliable, flexible programming, electronic controls, fast spin speed Long cycle times but this is standard for front loaders.

Just OK – We decided to go for a Miele FL to replace Asko W6551 Quattro which we had for about 8 years. From memory it costed around $1700 back in 2006 with 6 years warranty. On average we wash 3 times a week. In the warranty period we only had 1 problem with the display panel. The writing display was starting to disappear. We thought we should get it fixed… Read more

before the warranty expired. All was fine until recently. Faulty motor and drum. The technician said it's better to get a new machine.

Not a bad machine, but for $1700, we expected the machine would last at least 10 years. We know people using machine half that price and they have it longer than us. Let see how Miele stacks up.

11 good years – For our family of 4 this washer was used heavily and only just died this week. The bearings rusted. This washer was kept under our queenslander so in the weather a little bit. We had never had to get it repaired and it always worked! We live on minimal rain water and it used not too much water nor power.  Show reply

10 years strong – Bought it because of the hype, the expectation of quality and the bundled offer with stacking dryer. Had it for 10 years, about 2 years in we had stains on clothes, this was due to the washing powder which clogged up in the machine over time, learnt about washing powders and also how to self maintain with. Citric acid wash at high high… Read more ·  1

temperature. Has been used in family of four almost every day multiple times. Never failed in this whole time, but just now a fault indication has appeared saying temperature stop fault, which could be the heater element or the thermistor used to control the temperature. This is not bad afte a well used washer for 10 years. Our previous F&P didn't fair so well and that was when we were only a couple. There's always good and bad with every brand, we got lucky and the unit has worked well, I just hope we can have this temperature fault rectified without hassel. Would I buy another Asko. Probably do my research on other brands and choose what suits our needs, if Asko offers the right product then sure. It just worked, easy to use, low water consumption, no hot water needed, felt like a quality whitegoid Little on the small capacity, but in 2004 this was pretty good.

Rubbish – Since i have had this washing machine it i have had nothing but problems with it. When i first got it -it needed a new front door....Luckily this was during the warranty period and i did not have to pay. Then once it's warranty expired the computer board needed replacing. $450.00 to replace it so i was not happy. Since then the coputer board… Read more

has failed twice!..... $380.00 last time. If they dare try to charge me again for this part for the third time i am going to load this washing machine into my ccar and dump it on their front door step.It is a piece of rubbish and i would urge every one never to buy an asko product because they are not built to last at all....That is just a marketing catch phrase they have made up.

You look at the forums and it is clear that these products have an issue.

Do not waste you money.

Either buy a cheapo brand which will last longer or spend a bit more and buy a meila.

Every thing, very temperamentle.

Bad – We will be buying a new machine in the next 12 months to replace this one. Will never buy Asko again..... The machine worked very well for first two years prior to the warranty expiring. Gentle on clothes and very thorough. In it's third year both on board computers developed faults and due to that only 3 wash programs work and at limited spin… Read more

speed and wash temperature. First repair company had no idea what was wrong and that money was wasted. The second repair company quoted us $650+ to replace both on-board computers. At this stage we are still limping along with the reduced wash program options.

Perfect, can't fault it – Ok, it cost more than others but these ASKO are hand made, not mass produced like the cheap ones. Always works, never stops. Happy We've had ours for nearly 7 years and it's never even hinted at breaking or faultering. Love the machine, clothes come out clean and almost dry, love it Expensive but good Show reply

Bad – Very good, quiet washing machine when in working order. Unable to be fixed when it breaks down. Expensive machine for its unreliability. uses a lot less water than most and only needed cold water intake. Clothes come out clean. Service in our area non-existent and close to Canberra. Close to nations capital city and no service. One repair… Read more

place and it is $3.30 per km both way to access what the problem is. One mobile service man in our area for asko unable to fix the machine. He asked me to order, purchase and collect power display board for the model, as that was evidently the problem. That was 3 years ago - obviously the wrong part and still no one can fix the display panel. Washing by memory of the numbers and the temperatures they were set on since.
