Terrible experience – I purchased the Bissell Healthy Homes from Harvey Norman. The worst vacuum cleaner I have ever used. It sounds like a jet plane taking off, I have to vacuum when the rest of the family are out. It is so heavy and cumbersome to use around the house. I have broken the hose nozzle attachment that I now hold together with a ockey strap and I have… Read more
broken the vacuum attachment, I have had to pull so hard to get these things apart that I have actually broken them. The day that I can afford to buy a decent vacuum cleaner and throw the Bissell as far away as I can I will be happy. I also returned the Bissell once but no point in sending to Bissell again because the problems with the machined in my opinion is bad design, it's to loud, too heavy and I am a female and struggle every time I use it trying to get it apart to clean it. Come on Bissell surely you can do better.
Absolutely useless! – I brought the Bissell as I was looking at the Dyson and I have two dogs and the sales man said this was just as good. It worked well for about 4 months then bits started to break and the brush stopped working. After two returns to Bissell it never got any better. The small pet hair brush broke, the large brush no longer works (although its been… Read more
returned twice for this) and the suction is very poor. I have since brought a new vac. (Not a Bissell). Very disappointed.
Heavy, difficult to manover, breaks easily, looses suction.
It's Soooooo heavy – I have been looking for an upright vacuum cleaner for a while, I thought of the Shark but after reading a lot of US reviews, decided against it, I had a Dyson (don't get me started on that piece of ###) .I read a lot of reviews on the Bissell and most were positive. The heaviness was mentioned, but I dismissed it thinking, surely it can't be that… Read more
heavy? But it is! I am a healthy, fit 50 year old and there is no way I can vacuum my whole house with this vacuum! I have to do it in stages over a couple of days because it is so exhausting. Also, I have an island bench in my kitchen and it won't go close to the edges, which is when you have to use the attachment, but who can be bothered?
It does all the usual things new vacuum cleaners do, it sucks up really well, but throws out things it doesn't like through the back, like every other vacuum cleaner I've had does. I tried picking up a coffee bean, but it wouldn't do it, but that was on bare floors.
On the carpets, it was terrific! I had my mat cleaned professionally about 4 months ago and I vacuum it with an Electrolux stick vacuum everyday, but when I vacuumed it with the Bissell, about an inch of red dirt came out from a year ago!! So, as far as carpets go it,s fabulous, but it is new :) so not sure how long that will last.
So, I use an upright Electrolux (which I love) for small jobs still, because the thought of getting our the Bissell exhausts me, but I know when I do, it will do a very good job. Would I buy it again? Probably not. Will I send it back for my 30 day refund? Probably not. There is not much out there for uprights which is ridiculous, because a lot of people like me, want to use them but are also not prepared to pay $900+ for a Dyson or Miele, I'm not anyway, I've been there and done that and thrown it away... It does a really good job on carpets It's just too heavy and clunky to manouvre
Best vacuum I've owned – This vacuum has the best performance of any I'v owned and I like how you can adjust the height to suit the height of the carpet. However it gradually got noisier and I had to raise the height over time so it would vacuum. Eventually after phone calls to Bissell, I sent it back (I'd had it for about 8 months) and they replaced it with a new one as… Read more
it was under warranty. Hopefully the first one was a lemon and not a general problem with them. Fantastic pick up, pet hair and all Noisy
A welcome upgrade from a Dyson barrel vac – I researched this vacuum after trying one my father had bought for his country holiday house. They hadn't had a working vacuum in nearly 12 months, so lots of dust and pet hair from their dogs! This vacuum was brilliant, with super suction. We had to unclog the pet hair from the internal hose of the Bissell, but you'd expect that with 12 months… Read more
of pet hair coming out of the carpet.
At home we've had a Dyson barrel vac for over 6 years, that never had any suction and a turbo head that left more rubbish on the carpet than before vacuuming... so, this Bissell has been a welcome upgrade. Great suction, extremely easy to use extention hose for hand held work (skirting boards/window sills). Great mini-turbo head. Easy to use to clean the car/upholstery. A little heavy.
Excellent – The best vacuum performing vacuum cleaner we have ever owned. I would definately recommend this to other people, despite it's bad points. Not if you have a lot of stairs however. Does an excelent job of cleaning. I couldn't believe how much it picked up from what we thought was a clean carpet. Also great at picking up pet hair. Our dog leaves a… Read more
mat of hair when he steps inside and this cleanes it up easily. Performance is much better than our previous vac cleaner. We also considered a Dyson, but for the money we couldn't go past this. Also has a really long power cord so you don't need to unplug for every room, this is the first vacuum I've had with a realistic size cord. It is fairly heavy, so I wouldn't recomment if you have to carry up and down a lot of stairs. Also it's a bit top heavy so can be prone to tipping over.
