Cheap and very light pruner – I needed a pruner to take care of my olive trees, but the gas pruners weight about 7-8 kilos and cost over 400 euro. That b&d pruner costed me about 120 euro (2012) and weights not more than 4-4.5 kg. It's not a gas pruner that you can refill and cut all day long, but it is not made for that kind of use. The pruner is well made. It consists of… Read more

3 big parts. The bottom part, handle-battery holder and a 50-60 cm fiberglass pole. The top part, where the motor-bar-chain are. The top and bottom pieces fit together with the help of some big sized plastic nuts, which are riveted on the fiberglass poles. Total length of two pieces ~1.8m. There's a third part, an extension, with the help of the pruner become 2.4m long.

The plastic nuts-fiberglass poles connection isn't very rigid, but it is a small pruner and you wont have any problem.

The bar and chain are oregon made. There's not an automatic oiler but with the pruner comes a small oil container (20-30ml) that cleverly attaches to the bar cover. A few drops of oil and you are ok for 10 minutes.

The motor is pretty strong and will gladly cut branches smaller than 10cm. For something bigger you have to be patient.

The handle is well made, has a safety button that protects user from accidental pruner turn on. it has a rubber antislip surface and feels very nice.

The battery wont last all day. If you already own another 18v niCd B&D tool you can swap batteries and extend work time. If not, you can buy another battery or make a battery pack out of 18650 batteries and literally cut all day long. The battery itself has very low self discharge. Last time i used it was a year ago, and a couple of weeks ago i checked it and it still had power.

The most disappointing about this pruner is the very slow charger(EU charger). It takes about 10-12hours for a full charge (200mA output) and doesn't have a led or something that shows when full charge is accomplished.

That's all. Lovely cheap pruner for occasional use!

You'll wonder how you ever got on without it – Mine is about 4 years old and the battery charger has just died on me although the saw is still going strong. It's great for the high stuff and the smaller low stuff. Allows me to easily cut-back anything the possums might use for access to the roof. Highly recommended.  Show 2 replies

Keep your receipt – Bought this from Masters. Worked perfectly fine for about 6 months, cuts branches, palm fronds etc. Then it seemed to lose power. All the parts of the chainsaw work but the chain stops when trying to cut anything. Keep your receipt.

Excellent for Light-Medium Domestic Upkeep – Bunnings no longer stocks the B&D but has a similar Ryobi; Masters only has the B&D. We only have a few sessions of experience, but it is light enough for most anyone to use, it has a two extension pole that should reach most trunks or branches from ground height; and seems sturdy enough for light-medium domestic needs. It cuts through with no… Read more

worries. Chain oiling is done manually prior to and after use. The chain is easy to adjust (follow the instructions, especially tightening it after each of the first few uses as the new chain stretches). Have not used it more than 30 minutes at a time and the battery has been quite adequate. It has a 4 year warranty. Light weight, LION battery, 4 year warranty, does the job Nothing yet. It has been a joy to use!

Awesome little machine! – I got sick of waiting for all the males in my life to come and help me chop down some dead trees and branches, and do so some clearing along my neighbour's boundary so went out and bought this machine from Bunnings for $199. Read the instructions while charging the battery and preparing the chain, and then off I went. So far have taken out three… Read more ·  2

dead trees (one was much larger than stated capacity of saw of 150mm, by doing four cuts instead of two) and about 20 enormous branches the size of trees, and about 100 smaller cuts. Have had to recharge a few times, but it's super quick, and i usually need a break by the time the battery runs low anyway. Maintenance has been super easy, am tightening the chain regularly and oiling between big cuts and between charges. Who needs a man or a real chainsaw i say! (it does help to have someone holding the rope on big trees though, obviously!). It's perfect at it's stated job, and i'm now considering the B&D cordless chainsaw to chop up the firewood!! Easy to use, works a treat, does the job efficiently, much cheaper than hiring a tree lopper!
