Cracked glass on door interior – We bought this oven when we renovated our kitchen in Nov 2014 thinking bosch to be a reputable manufacturer and we have had a bosch dishwasher that we thought was good quality. (The dishwasher lasted about 15 years before it gave up its life). We have been mostly happy with this product, it looked sleak and we found it easy to use. Only last week… Read more

when using the self cleaning function the interior glass on the door cracked and now I've been quoted over $570 to fix it. I honestly thought purchasing an oven in this price range from a brand with a good reputation that we would get more life from it than 8-9 years. Looking at the reviews of other things that have been a problem in this model i am concerned that paying this incredible amount for new glass on the door may not be worth it if it is just the tip of the iceberg. Very dissappointed.

Oven door inner glass cracked after self clean – This is the first time I have used the self clean on number 2 and after that, the inner glass of the oven door cracked. I always clean the oven myself as 1. it's never that dirty 2. the self clean will really crank up the voltage for the duration which can be from 1 hour 15 mins to 2 hours on level 3. common issue with Bosch ovens. I will be staying away from Bosch ovens from now on and if you are getting a Bosch oven, do the self clean on level 3 every month depending on usage while under warranty. This is not the only issue I have had with this oven. There was rusting on the panels a few months after purchase which was replaced under warranty. This is another issue that was common from reviews.

Cooks well and has great timer function but REALLY poorly made – It has been a long time since I bought this oven but I thought i should write a review so other people can beware as the problems started very early on. I thought Bosch... made in Germany, should be good... not. Gave it 2 stars as the functions are quite good. The quality is awful. This is a pyrolytic oven . Bought Nov 2011, sat in the shed for a… Read more

year while 'starting' the kitchen. Started using it and it seemed to smoke at lot when grilling and the enamel at the corners of the glass door started to crack. Just out of warranty but after quite a lot of correspondence /calls to Bosch they finally decided to honour the warranty as it was not installed straight away. Service man came out - changed the seal and the inside door skin. Said he'd never seen a door seal so flat. About a year later the oven light glass cracked. Bought a new one thru Doug Smith Spares. This broke after about a month!!. No warranty but Bosch finally said 'for good customer relations' they would send one to the spares place. Never did. Chased and chased for about 9 months until Doug Smith Spares gave in and just ordered me one and did not charge me (please stop bothering us ! ). GREAT service by them. This one cracked too but not quite all the way thru. I'd just clean it carefully, didn't bother to replace it AGAIN. After about 4 years use the light stopped working. Got a new bulb - Oh oh, not the bulb but the wiring. I check my food with a torch now. A few years later - a screw in my food. It came from the grill, then one side of the grill dropped down. Went to put a new screw in and found the carcass of the oven rusted away at the screw. Finally a couple of months ago I nearly cut my self when cleaning the door after the pyrolytic cycle as the door skin has rusty thru completely. See the picture. That prompted me to write this review. My old upright Chef stove was 35 years old and just would not give up. I recognise that the pyrolytic cycle must be hard on the oven , or perhaps that I DON'T clean it often enough and the food acid causes corrosion?? Or perhaps the enamel is just not done well enough? Think of those old enamel wood stoves - 100years old and still OK. For nearly $2000 I expect an oven to last longer than 5 years without some sort of major failure. No more Bosch ovens for me, I think I'll try the Westinghouse pyrolytic oven, Made in Australia!

Good oven – Have had this oven about four years, as a replacement for another brand that couldn't keep a reliable and constant temperature. In that area, this oven has worked great. We have used the pyrolytic clean function probably about 10 times, and so far, no cracked glass. (Did you hear a Hallelujah from me?). However, we used that function last night… Read more ·  2

- all OK - it cleaned well. However, the next bake, with an oven thermometer sitting inside, the temperature was about 25 degrees C out. I verified the temperature with a non-contact IR tester when we opened the door. Oven was hotter than dial by about 25 degrees C. Result was a severely burnt cake. Turned off. And yes, the thermostat was controlling the element - you could hear it clicking on and off.

An hour later, my wife had another go. This time the temperature was accurate. Again checked with oven thermometer and IR tester. Is it going to stay accurate? I guess one can only hope... I have not read of this happening to any others, so thought I would add it here. And after reading the other reviews, I am now wondering how long until the glass cracks...

Great oven but – Happy with this oven (so far). It works well for my purposes, though I only use it for the occasional roast or biscuits. I love the pyroclean function, it's brilliant, have used it a few times now. The function knobs are easy to use. My only annoyance is the timer and the other digital settings requiring pressing the + or - button to increase or… Read more ·  1

decrease time. Very fiddly, would much rather have a knob or dial.

One obvious design flaw - there is only a millimetre clearance between the extendable rail ends when pushed in as far as they go, and the glass door! It would be really easy to smack the door against them every time you use the oven, as the rails can look pushed in, but can be out by just a millimetre. Having read the other reviews about the door glass cracking (!!!) I've been very wary of this and very careful not to let anything knock the glass door.

A friend has the exact same oven - and yes, her door has cracked! She's had it less than two years.

Love this oven – We had this oven in a previous house and decided to install the same one when we recently renovated our kitchen. Quality, stylish and functional – The oven cooks beautifully. Temperature is consistent and well distributed throughout the oven. It pulls air in rather than push it out making it an interesting feature though haven't really noticed any benefit from it (nor any negative). Do not trust the self cleaning on this oven – As far as the oven it's self is concerned it is very good. was a big crash and what had happened was one of the inner pieces of glass had shattered and hot glass fell on to the floor damaging the floor covering which I am now trying to claim on my insurance. When I notified Bosch about what had happened they showed no concern whatsoever, all they were interested in was, :- is it still under warranty which it wasn't so they said there was nothing they could do for me although they did say they could send an engineer out at the cost of £99.00 plus what was needed to fix the door. As it turned out I only needed one piece of glass which cost £55.66 including postage and I fitted it my self. I have been told by Bosch that if the same thing was to happen again with this new glass It still would not have any warranty at all, so I doubt if we will ever use the self clean again as we would not feel safe and we certainly do not trust it!!! If you are thinking of buying this model then do yourself a favour and buy the exact same model but without the self cleaning device and save £199.00 as that is how much cheaper it is, as what is the point of having this device if you can't trust it to be safe to use. A note to Bosch :- you should be ashamed to know that your oven is untrustworthy and dangerous and especially as you do not seem to care about what has happened here.

oven is a chore I am sure every woman loathes. The oven cooks very evenly, heats up quickly and looks pretty good too. The only thing I find strange is when I open the door I get a blast of very hot air, I have never had this with any other oven I have owned. I have now learnt to step back as I open the door - that does help. I cooked a messy roast so had to try the pyrolytic function, it is amazing, The inside of the oven was back to looking brand new. I have seen other comments about it being a problem having to clean the racks manually, I personally don't see this as a problem. Disappointed after 3 years the back panel has rusted out! – We loved our oven. We purchased it 3 years ago when we renovated our kitchen. After a week of use we noticed the entire front panel has surface rust appearing. We contacted The Good Guys who were miserable to deal with. We… Read more

were accused of cleaning our oven with chemicals and sprays. They even went to the extent of telling us the powder we wash our tea towels with was causing the rust! It seemed every time we opened our oven the steam coming out was causing it. After much back and forth they said that Bosch were going to send us a "Clean Protect" kit. It contained a cleaning powder "wiener Kalk"and a Conditioning cloth. The Kalk immediately removed the surface rust with a little elbow grease and followed by the cleaning cloth we hadn't a problem since, or so we thought...

The fact that it seemed to had not been sealed correctly in the factory weighed on our minds a little however we were assured that this problem had been fixed and the guys at Bosh were very helpful. For 2 years our oven has been wonderful. We used the Pyrolytic function with no problems at all (such a cracking glass, etc. as mentioned in other reviews). Heats up quickly and functions well. Small things we noticed when cooking was the back of the oven is always hotter and tend to cook baked items such as cookies more on the rear of the tray. A few times the grill setting failed to work and we've had to turn the oven off and on again for the element to work - I put it down to not turning the knobs clockwise to start it?).

2 weeks ago I discovered 2 screws in the bottom of the oven. I soon discovered they had fallen out of the back plate (the piece that covers the fan) when I went to put them back in the holes it seemed the metal behind it had rusted out. I contacted Bosch who told me the oven is out of warranty and we would need an authorised repairer to come out and fix it and we would be up for the cost. Sadly a third screw has now rusted out. I unscrewed the last remaining screw to see why we could screw the fallen screw out back in and discovered every screw hole behind the plate has a hole rusted out to the size of a 5 cent piece!!

We are now waiting for the Bosh repairer to come out next week and tell us what we are up for to have this fixed This alone is a $99 call out - I'm not sure how he plans on fixing rust holes..

Utterly devastated at this stage as by the looks of it as it is one solid piece that wraps around the inside of the oven it may mean that this is a total write off. For a $1500 oven that has been used for only 3 years I am hoping that Bosh could look at some kind of compensation. Our previous oven was still going strong after 10 years, we only chose to replace it as we wanted all new appliances when renovating.

I wonder if this is one of the reasons this model has been discontinued?

Hoping its an easy fix! Will post back on the outcome.

Pyro Crack The Inside of Door – I LOVE the pyro as it cleans the oven well BUT after a few cleans, I found there were cracks on the inside of the oven door (metal at the edge by the glass). palmed me off to Lumley as I bought the extended warranty with it (another lesson learnt here: extended warranty is a waste of money).

Lumley suggested that I call Bosch as it seems they don't cover doors.

I called Bosch & he said it's outside warranty period so nothing can be done.

The main reason of buying a pyro oven is so that I don't have to manually clean it but now I have the fear of using the pyro which I've used rarely just in case it'll result in more cracks & chips. This has taken away my love of the oven as when I 1st bought it I was telling all my friends that were wanting to change their oven to get the same.

In a way, I'm lucky that so far it's not the glass that has cracked but I thought that under Australian consumer law, I should be able to get either a repair, replacement or refund regardless of what defect it is, as one would expect such an expensive appliance (close to $2000) should last more than 5 years.

I am now looking to change my dishwasher & am definitely staying away from Bosch which is a pity as I thought it was a reputable brand with good customer service.

I have also tried to post a review back in April then but somehow this website refused to publish it even though I've sent proof of the receipt.

Me too..Bulb glass cracked and bulb blown .from pyrolitic plus some – I too have had this happen. But thats not all.... I havent put up reviews before but after reading a response that the bulb glass cracking is uncommon..... I am today checking reviews as I fill in my own resolution form to see how common MY issues are. Note I was not offered a resolution form when I complained a year ago about the door metal… Read more

frame chip/splinters..

It seems the pyrolitic function has damaged oven doors as well as the glass bulb covers and the bulbs themselves.

In my instance the cover plus the bulb plus its electricals were damaged from the pyrolitic cleaning . This happened during warranty but I hadnt put 2 and 2 together until the warranty had expired as having 2 units I didnt replace the bulb for a long long time and just used the other oven.. I have had 4 glass covers crack in less than 5 years.

My other problem is that the metal oven at the seal as well as on the door itself has cracks /chips in it where the moulding of the door closes onto it. I have kept some of the metal splinters. I called but was unhappy with paying the call out assessment fee of about $130 and didnt get anyone over.

I have dints in my door where the door has met with the racks and those dints are becoming holes. I agree with another reviewer that it is not clear how far you need to push the racks in.

After using the pyrolitic cleaning function for the 2nd or third time i noticed the darkness from oils etc didnt erase in the door moulding as it did in the oven walls. I subsequently spent money ordering bosch metal creme cleaner which didnt inprove it that much. Now almost 5 years on that dark colour is darker still and unattractive after a pyro clean while the interior is looking its original grey colour.

Well after my last 2 glass covers cracked within a month of each other... making my total -4 cracking... and realising the pyrolitic function damaged more than just the cover ..but the bulb and the light electricals.... plus the metal splintering.... my ovens score a 2 stars. I now cannot use either oven until there is a resolution.

Update 12 January 2016:

To bosch's credit.... they are resolving this with me .

My problem happened inside factory warranty but my claim was out of warranty... Believing I had purchased the extended warranty, when in fact I hadn't.

The tradesman came out to assess at no cost to me and he checked the unit and made his report.

They have agreed to replace and install one of the 2 ovens.

Great Oven – After extensive research and comparisons bought this oven on quality and price. The manual doesn't tell you how to inset the oven racks so they don't hit the door when you close it. Our glass cracked on the 2nd or 3rd pyro clean and luckily it was replaced under warranty. Serviceman said it was one of the best ovens around and should last a good… Read more ·  1

20 years. Would advise new owners to pyro clean on max settings during warranty to test glass. Love this oven despite hiccups.

Glass door cracked again – That is the second time the we found the glass door to be cracked, whilst cleaning the glass door in preparation for self-cleaning we found the door glass to be cracked at the bottom, that crack is hard to see due to the shape of the glass. Now that oven is out of warranty by three months(4 months we spend overseas). Please consider that weak point if buying a Bosch wall oven, otherwise the product is working good.
