Bosch SMS50E42AU

Eight years of service – Had ours for eight years now. But it has started to decline. Water doesn't heat up anymore that it can't melt the wax seal of the Finish dishwasher cleaner. Water starts to pool on the base. But not a bad run, I suppose. Now looking for a replacement. Unless Bosch reads this and says otherwise. Show details ·  1

tank water & solar (good ratings especially given this was a 2012 model – better than most currently available)

- used daily on 65 degree wash

No issues until Monday 26/3/18 – AGED 5.5 YEARS

Error 15- Flood protection kicked in during cycle (although plates were clean). Cleaned filters to inlet pipes, cleaned dw internal filter Tipped DW at 45 degree angle to empty flood tray (found on internet blogs) – NOTE caustic liquid came out & bleached the marmoleum flooring. Ran rinse wash – then no error code

Next day - Error 4 (water switch faulty) - Received error code on next 65 degree wash. Cleaned internal filter again, still some water in bottom of dishwasher; cleaned internal dw with vinegar & also around door seals, cleaned water arms. Ran hottest wash to try to clear any blockages. NOTE – DW blew our circuit breaker during wash when the dw went POP! ....Decided we need to get a new dishwasher

Lasted 5.5 years (although reading Product Reviews – this seems normal, even good)

Appliances Online to the rescue – I can’t say enough wonderful words about the Sales & Delivery service by them. We were able to view a good range of replacements online, compare prices & features. Also checked other suppliers, but Appliances Online had the best prices for what we wanted, AND it also included delivery & removal of the old Dishwasher.

Base Model Bosch – The old dishwasher failed with odd noises, smoke and odours - calling a service tech out was probably going to be waste of $120 min. or else service call + repair $400. shopping. The Good Guys just happened to have a very special price on the bottom of the range Bosch. It seemed to me that most of the extras missing on this model were electronic programming items and an upper utensil tray. The basic washing mechanism was the same as models twice the price.

I bought it and installed it myself with no problems.

It is very quiet compared with the old Dishlex, it washes very well and it dries much better without the need for a special heating function so is economical. It is very standard inside for stacking the load but I have never seen anything too different here, even in $2,00 models.

It has only been operating for 1 month so I will update in a year or so unless something worth reporting pops up. Price, Bosch name Nothing so far - plain vanilla model.

Review of Bosch SMS50E38AU – This is a great dishwasher. It is very quiet and does a great job. We often use the shorter cycle as 2 hours plus of washing dishes seems a long time. Quiet, washes dishes well, none that I can find although the eco cycle seems a long time, but they often are in various appliances

Great Dishwasher – Its like the Volkswagen of dishwashers. Fairly cost effective and reliable. Well made. Really really quiet. Impulse buy – We needed a replacement for our trusty AEG. We found this Bosch in the scratch and dent section of E&S Trading. That was very cheap. bought it 2 years ago.It does 2 washes a day. The only dirty dishes we had were when we got some cheap Finish tabs that I am sure were fake. Filters are easy to clean and take off and replace. Good workhorse dishwasher that is water and energy efficient. Some cycles take too much time.

Whisper quiet dishwasher – I bought this on sale from Harvey Norman at Knox shopping centre for $786 reduced from $1399 to replace our 20 year old ASKO. This dishwasher is whisper quiet, and does a great job. The wash cycle is a little long at 2hrs, but since I set it before I go to work or before I go to sleep it isn't an issue. Auto switch off at the end of the cycle is a great idea. Overall, I highly recommend this dishwasher. Whisper quiet efficient dishwasher

drying is outstanding. Standard wash cycle is a little long but I never use it because the short wash is excellent and has never failed to wash stuff perfectly.

Excellent buy! – I bought this dishwasher at Appliances Online, what a bargain! This dishwasher has a large bottom drawer and fits oversized plates and my huge oversized saucepans with ease. The top drawer is well designed and fits wine glasses, dishes and small items likes espresso glasses without breakage. Ours is freestanding and is still quiet. best part however is how beautifully clean our dishes and glasses are after using it. Can't believe we waited so long to buy a really good and reasonably priced dishwasher. 44 db which was very quiet in real terms, I have owned a few dishwashers over the years and this is definitely the quietest I have ever seen.

The standard cycle runs a long time over 2 hours but the results were brilliant. There is a quick cycle that runs for only 30 min if you were in a hurry for your dishes.

I like the features such as the rack system, you can remove the top rack, fit an adapter and wash the largest of large items. It has a hot cycle for pots and pans. Really there is little that this machine can't wash. Pity my car doesn't quite fit in but that is my only complaint. The power and water ratings are excellent. I would recommend this machine even if I had paid the retail price but for $800 it was a bargain. Quiet and efficient, does an excellent job, highly flexible machine that is very well built My car is too big to fit in it ;)
