Worked well for 3 years then… – Had this unit for 9 years but after 3 years couldn’t use the Time delay, half load or vario speed functions. Now looking to replace as it is difficult to even get the unit to start. Always like bosche products, but this dishwasher has been a real lemon. (Made in Germany) and recommended by Choice. Unfortunately will look for another brand.
Works well. Longevity questionable – We bought 2 of these based on Choice recommendation in 2012. Both have now failed. I dispute another review which says made in Turkey. Mine clearly has "made in Germany" all over it. I have no issues with the quality of the job that it did. I was always satisfied when using Quantum Max tabs. Plastics came out slightly wet on top, but that is to… Read more
be expected I guess.
Our unit failed to turn on yesterday. I am still investigating the options to fix it as I was happy with its performance.

SMU50E45AU Another Bosch control board failure – Yes, count me in like many other Bosch dishwasher owners as evident from Product Review. My dishwasher is nearly 5 years old and I've just paid $140 for a technician to tell me that I'm up for about $500-$600 to replace the PCB - control board. As described by others it turns itself off, then restarts, then turns itself off etc. Sounds like I was… Read more
lucky to get almost 5 years out of it.
Sad, because apart from that I was really happy with it as a dishwasher. However, come the time I have to replace it, I will not be rewarding bad behaviour and buying a Bosch.

Failure at 5 years – The unit was purchased in 2012 and has performed satisfactorily until 2 days ago, when the unit would no longer switch on from the main LH button. Reading various blogs indicates electronic component failure occuring around that period of use, in this and other models. Given the costs for diagnostic testing prior to any component replacement and potential cost of components we are now assessing alternative brands. Show details

A good machine – Firstly this machine is very quiet. The drawers are well laid out and everything seems to have a place for it. There has never been any issue with dishes not cleaning. Even on the shorter cycle, everything always appears clean. My only gripe is the water that pools atop of coffee mugs and cups. When the drawer is pulled out some of the water ends up on the lower level, hence that is always emptied first. Show details · 2
Same problem with SMS50E42AU – Cost $198 to find out about the leaking tank, then $372 to replace it. Used the machine once and it blew the house circuits switches on that line. Now they say the whole electrical board and electrical lead has to be replaced, another $375 plus labour to fit. Have not done that yet, tossing our whether to throw the whole thing away. The machine… Read more
was as good as new and only 5 months out of warranty. Got in touch with Bosch, said send photos but they wouldn't accept them (too many megs?) Should last longer than that!

Bosch Does not Honour the Warranty after suppling a defective machine – I would NEVER recommend a Bosch dishwasher to anyone. I bought the top of the line based on previous reliability of Bosch products. What I never expected was that they would REFUSE to stand behind their warranty. My dishwasher has completed less than 100 loads in total - 50 or less prior to initial failure or about $30 a load. Not even close to… Read more
value for money in my opinion. It started leaking and triggering the dreaded E:15 within 5 months of install. When a pinhole leak was discovered in the machine the certified repair tech told us he had never seen this and it was clearly a manufacturing defect. Bosch, decided not to look at it and refused to honour the warranty. Now I guess we get to work with consumer affairs. I am happy to share photos for all to see.

E14 – This machine never worked. I brought it in Australia then shipped it to Yangon, Myanmar. All I get is E14 done all the fault testing the retail shop told me to do plus everything on the web, can get a workshop manual online, Bosch customer service has been non.

Rubbish – One month after the warranty the control box packed up. Cost to replace over $500. Its made in Turkey so Bosch is yet another multinational trading on a quality name and selling shoddy garbage made in the third world. AVOID!

Awesome – Well after having this new Bosch dishwasher for about a month .... it has been everything the old Westinghouse (7 years old )could only wish to be. Dishes pots pans go in dirty and come out clean. It seems to get much hotter then the old one. Would recommend this dishwasher to anyone how clean things come out Show 5 replies
Fantastic – Bought it from good guys a couple of weeks ago now and it has proved to be a great purchase. Pots and Pans come cleaner on a short wash in the Bosch than on a long wash in my old dishlex. The pots and pan wash cleans brilliantly even the hardest baked on grime. We use aldi dishwasher tabs and have had good results with them. Price does its job Show reply
Fantastic - would buy again and again and again – This dishwasher is great and I would recommend to anyone. Firstly, it washes really well. Stuff goes in dirty and comes out clean! I know that sounds trite but our last machine struggled with that basic idea. It also dries really well. I also think it runs pretty quietly. Secondly, it is well laid out. You can actually get large plates /… Read more
dishes in the bottom drawer. And there's a few options for the top drawer.
The only slight irritants are the fact it struggles to dry some plastics (but then most dishwashers do) and the cycle is a bit long (2hrs 20) for a normal wash. Washes well, decent internal capacity Long cycle times
Its a winner! – This dishwasher is a powerhouse. I used to be a rinser of dishes before I put them into the dishwasher until I got this one. You don't have to rinse a thing, cuterly, sauce pans what ever it is, it cleans them perfectly. I use half the washing powder compared to my last dishwasher (15 year old Westinghouse) and the dishes come out sparkling clean… Read more
and dry. The machine is quiet, I have to check if its running because I can't hear it. For the price, the way it cleans, drys and looks (I got a stainless steel washer), and don't forget the German engeneering, this dishwasher is a bargain and highly recommended. Value for money, very efficient and whisper quiet, I love it. Very happy with my purchase. Only fault with this machine is that its a powerhouse. What I mean is, plastic containers and tupperware get blown around the dishwasher if it isn't stacked properly. Sometimes i'll find tupperware containers turned up side down full of water when the cycle has finished. I have learnt to stack them differently but every now and then I'll find a container that couldn't handle the power of the beast and will be turned up side down full of water.
