How do I stop dishes from being wet at end of cycle?
Jake asked on Feb 29, 2012
I select Auto + Hygiene options and use Finish Rinse Aid. Try to other settings if you like.
Otherwise, wedge the door open an inch when the cycle finishes. That'll do it too.

My missus wants to know if you can ask her boss if she can get the time off work to go home after 3hrs of dishwaher operation and prop the door of the dishwasher open in order to get dry dishes....it seems like a design issue if you need to open the door at the end of the cylcle and wedge it open with a wooden spoon in order to get dry dishes. Couldn't you have installed a relief valve which lets out the steam or moisture at the end of the cycle instead? The machine cost us in excess of $1500 and you expect us to prop the door ajar to get dry dishes. I have seen cheaper machines which produce dry dishes, why can't this one with the door closed...ie. set and forget!

Will this model work efficiently on a hot water connection?
nev asked on Feb 22, 2012
Woops, my plumber connected this, I'm not sure whether it's heated inside or uses hot water, let me check...still no idea. Two taps but staggered levels and lots of convoluted pipes. It should be no different from any other dishwasher.
ges replied on Feb 22, 2012
In my opinion "NO".
My previous dishwasher was hot connection only and with purchase of the Bosch replacement necessitated changing to cold only connection for inlet.
The reasoning behind this is that when you run hot water eg sink, a quantity of lower temperature water has to flow through pipe before the actual desired temperature is reached. In the case of dishwasher this initial water is going to be lower temp than machine program is expecting and the dishwasher will use its own heater to raise the water to program temp anyway also the draw off from your HWS may cause heater thermostat in HWS to switch on heater element (depends on type of electric tarrif in use, istant reheat or off peak).
I have found the dishwasher heating up its own hot water works fine, and had negligible effect on power bill.
The second reason for not using a plumbed Hot supply instead of Cold is the potential for damage to seals and warranty issues if a tempering device isn't used as straight hot supply would compromise the program when lower temperatures are needed also warranty might be voided.

If I remember correctly, Bosch Reps recommend cold water only even though some of their manuals say different. I'd install a tempering valve put on the hot water which reduces the temperature to 50 degrees. Confirm this with Bosch if you're really concerned. If you're going to fork out $1000+ on their washer, a day or two of research isn't a bad idea.

Does anyone have a problem with the dish washer smelling as the door won't stay ajar?
C B asked on Jan 30, 2012
no ours stays just a little bit open alright.
As well my wife uses a special dishwasher lemon and lime deodorant.
Made by FINISH
Hang it on one of the racks Works a treat.
Make sure youuse Finish Rinse Aid and dishes will come out dry at the end of the cycle.
We take ours out and they go straigh into the cupboard without using a a teatowl at all.

No, It is only left ajar in the period it takes for the plates, glasses etc to dry using the residual heat from completed wash cycle.
It only actually seems to take an hour but I usually unpack next morning instead. The washer doesn't smell as it is hygienically clean after having completed a wash due to the temperature and sanitising action of the dishwasher detergent, (mostly these products are sodium hydroxide / caustic soda based so very effective at cleaning) in food manufacturing industry potassium hydroxide use is widespread for cleaning due to its affinity with water but is restricted to industry due to the stringent oh&s precautions required to protect operators from chemical burns.
The dishwasher shouldn't develop any objectionable odor unless it is left unused for extended periods similar to refrigerator left closed up with power off. The action of air drying / evaporation should render the appliance dry and avoid any undue odor.

Unit with a loose metal plate, 600x80 sitting on top of the unit, where does it go? Also there are white plastic front seals that are also loose and too big when holding clips are in place. Do I keep these strips, does the top strip push into bench?
Frederik asked on Aug 14, 2011
I'm sorry, ours was installed by supplier, and I wasn't present, so I don't know.
mamamoose replied on Aug 14, 2011
Hi Frederik, the 600X80 stainless steel strip is probably the kick plate. This fits on the recess under the door and is height adjustable. I raised my dishwasher right up to the underside of the bench (to hold it firmly in place) which left a large recess underneath so I placed the plate at the very bottom of the gap close to the floor. It looks finished when you are standing in front of the machine. Sorry I do not know about the plastic front seals issue, mine were just fine.

1. Set the 'Intensive Drying' function: see pg. 15 of the user manual or follow these simple steps:
i) Close the dishwasher door
ii) Switch the ON/OFF switch to 'On'
iii) Hold down the 'Normal 45' programme button and the START button until the display shows d:00
iv) Release both buttons
v) Press the 'Pre-Rinse' programme button to turn Intensive Drying to on: 'd:01' shows in the display, or off: 'd:00' in display.
vi) Press START button to save.
2. Make sure that any items you put in the dishwasher are angled to avoid water pooling in them and make sure you unstack the dishwasher from the bottom up.
3. Always use rinse-aid (Bosch recommends Finish)
4. Wait for about 15 minutes after the end of the cycle and open the door for around 10 minutes. This will release any residual moisture.
Hope this helps
