Love love love this appliance. Have had it for many years and it just keeps on performing so well. Easy to use, easy to wash, easy to handle. Love the ceramic bowl and that it is nice enough to serve straight to the table. Food quality is really great. Good value for money imo. Show details

Biggest piece of junk ever – I am in shock of how bad this slows cooker is. We were replacing our old one & now am happily going back to our old one. This Breville slow cooker stinks like burning plastic (I checked the instruction manual and it said wash it out then can be used - this is not the worst of it though). The based does not sit flat (its like an uneven table -… Read more

still not the worst of it). The lid does not sit flat so there is always a gap! I am in shock at how bad this is!

I LOVE THIS slow cooker – I make soups, roasts and beautiful stews in this awesome massive family size slow cooker. I am devistated it has been discontinued. I have had mine for years & it has never missed a beat. I Love that the bowl comes out & can be put straight on the table. It's dishwasher safe, which is amazing can cook it all in one bowl & then put the bowl into… Read more

the dishwasher from table.

The only couple of not so positive things about it are the little rubber feet came off. Not that it affects itbeing able to be used. Plus the base has warped a slight bit.But again does not affect the use of the cooker.

Cracked Bowl – I really love this slow cooker, however the bowl has cracked like so many others. I just saw how much a replacement bowl will cost. Unless they come down in price I wont be buying a replacement for $120. Maybe Breville will come up with a better/different material bowl at a reasonable cost to assist so many disappointed customers. It cooked great and cleaned easy but it didn't last the expected distance.  Show details

Dissappointed Breville Banquet – I have a Breville Banquet BSC400 which as far a operation is great but the ceramic cooking dish has cracked down the middle only after 12 months of rare usage & not due to poor handling, will consider another manufacturer in future.

Cracked bowl – Loved using the Banquet but disappointed that bowl cracked down the middle! I had liquid in the bowl so used properly - faulty product? Thinking about replacement product now ... change of brand.

Cracks and crazing – I have had my banquet Breviile since they first came out.It has had reasonable use but not more than once a month.Over the past year it has cracked and crazed badly. This morning after washing it I found one large crack had gone right through the bowl.I won't be using it again.

1st bowl cracked, 2nd bowl warped – I too had a cracked bowl, but I thought it was from putting cold water into a hot bowl. I bought a replacement bowl but it too me a few months to realise that the bowl is warped, so the lid doesn't fit on it at one end. Meaning overcooked food. Very disappointed. It did cook well before that.

I bought this because of its size and also the fact it was a great serving dish as well – Used it 5 times and cracks appeared in the bottom with one crack causing leakage of liquid (only small amount but still there). I've put it back in the cupboard thinking I just might get away with using it again......... maybe i'll just throw it unless someone knows where you can buy the dish from separately.

Good unit until the Bowl cracking – We had ours for only 18months after the old unit 9+ yrs finally died on us and we wanted a bigger unit and breville we thought would be a reliable name .. after only a few uses and stored in the kitchen storage cuboard ours also have huge cracks up the middle , this is clearly not a user issue but a dodgy product , we are buying another slow… Read more

Don't buy this – It works great and cleans very easy but the ceramic bowl cracks rendering it useless. Would not recommend it as a replacement bowl was not covered under warranty as it was deemed to be a user problem. This was definitely not the case. It was sitting on the bench slacking in warm water only. cooks great, easy to clean Ceramic cracks

Bowl cracked - only used a handful of times – I was quite happy with the product to begin with, but at $110 and after only a few uses the bowl has cracked. I am so very disappointed :-(. It cooked well enough although the low setting did seem a little bit high. I was wondering if it is worth bothering to try and get a replacement?? Has anyone else tried? Cooked well. Bowl cracked.

Banquet meal maker – Have not used my breville banquet maker very much, and am sad that it is now cracking around the bottom. Have heard that this make has a major problem. Does this happen to all of these cookers. I am not very happy with this product as it cooks well. but doesn't last long before cracking,

Not good enough – I too have had my banquet maker for a couple of years and haven't used it that much. But went to use again and found a large crack right through the centre of the bowl. I am happy enough with it but it's just not good enough. Thay're not cheap to buy so the quality of this product should'nt be cheap. Has large crack through the centre of bowl

bowl cracked – Have had for about three years. Not very often used until recent times. Now love it as i have a gastric banding and is the only way I can Eat red meat and being a single mother it is a great size to do extra to freeze for myself when kids go to their father's. but my bowl split in half while doing a beef gravy casserole. size, meat texture, fine cracks through the bowl after first use and they just kept getting worse

Cooks well until the bowl cracks – I have had this awhile, but use it rarely as I am alone. Used it to cook some beef cheeks and vegatables, which it did well. When I washed it there was a giant crack across the bowl, which went all the way through. Breville customer service was unconcerned and quoted $49.83 for a replacement. No word on whether the obvious technical problem has been fixed. Cooked well Takes a lot of space. Obviously the bowl is not up to standard.

Used maximum 5 times now cracked bowl – There's only the two of us, but we bought this banquet cooker for when the family were here and were very happy with its even cooking and temperature control. We have only cooked ham and pea soup, lamb shanks, chicken legs in bulk in tomato sauce dishes in this -no burning and no problems until I emptied it out today to clean and the bottom has… Read more

inside cracks around three corners. These are long cracks which do not appear on the outside of the bowl. On picking the bowl up I think I hear a slight creak too.

I have been careful about not putting cold water into a hot bowl - this has not happened here. The cracks must have occurred during yesterday's pea and ham soup cooking. I left the soup to cool down in the bowl overnight - outside the fridge!

My concern is, if I use it again will the bottom fall out!? I don't think I should use it again sadly. I will phone Breville tomorrow to see how much a new bowl will cost and if there is a warrantee on it. Sadly, ours is just out of warrantee...Isn't that the way!

Question; does this only happen to cornered bowls? Do round bowls last longer? Size, even cooking and good temperature control Extensive cracks on three corners at the bottom of the bowl, despite minimal use.

Good few years of service, but cracked bowl – Like others on here, my bowl has cracked. I'm still using it but any day now I know it will split in half. It's now 4 - 5 years old, but the bowl showed signs of cracking within the first couple of years. And I love the large size, but unless you cook 2kgs of meat plus veges, it's almost too big and stuff burns. The rectangle shape also means… Read more

that the corners are harder to clean. Not a major issue, but I'll be looking for an oval shape next time. Ability to make heaps ( to freeze, for leftovers, etc) Bowl cracked, bowl is heavy & cumbersome to wash, dishes burn in corners

Great addition to the kitchen gadgets – Works as described. Perfect beef casserole which fed 12 adults. Have had the slow cooker for a short time so looking forward to more recipes. Fantastic size. At this point I have nothing else to add so hope to come back in 6 months with similar review and recipes to share. Thankyou I have a large family so size is great

Update on my previous review of 16th October, 2011 – Having given this product a glowing review on 16th October, 2011 I now have to say that I'm not happy. I was cooking a piece of beef yesterday in my Breville Banquet slow cooker when I heard a crack....I investigated and didn't see anything wrong until I washed the bowl out and there's a crack along the inside which also shows through on the… Read more

other side so it's destined for the bin. I purchased this appliance in November 2008 so I guess I've had a fair bit of use out of it but it's not used every week and I've had 2 slow cookers before this one so I'm not a novice at how to take care of such things. My previous two never cracked during use, in fact one was passed on to another family member and is still going strong.

Bad – Size was great, but its no good if the quality is not! I'm headed out to buy the new 5.5ltr sunbeam. Bad Breville! large size Like other reviews here, mine was covered in tiny lines/partial thickness cracks almost immediately, but didnt affect use. Then first use after summer and just as warranty expired I put the cooker on and went off to workand returned five hours later to a completely cracked cooker and ruined dinner...

Excellent – Awesome piece of Kit. Just used it on what should have been the last day of Spring but felt more like winter. Threw in 8 chicken thighs, 2 onions, 4 potatoes, 8 mushrooms, chicken stock, crushed tomatoes, herbs and some bacon. Six hours later a meal for 2 plus left overs for another meal. Minimal washing up. This plus my ancient Breville Country… Read more

Excellent – I would recommend this machine to anyone who wants a large, easy to use and clean slow cooker. I get so excited everytime I pull it out of the cupboard because I know something delicious will come out it. We have made soups, roasts, stews and chicken dishes in this cooker and couldn't be happier with it. Great capacity, we wouldn't be able to… Read more

fit our roasts in any other machine on the market. Cooks things to perfection and it's impossible to overcook anything. Makes life just so easy! It's rectangle, which means it fits into cupboards perfectly, without wasting any space. Nothing at all

Good – I really like my slow cooker and my family love anything cooked in it too as food always comes out tender and well cooked. I have found no problem with the heat settings at all , both heat settings cook well although the higher setting speeds things up a bit. The machine is also easy to clean... the bowl and lid come up a treat in the… Read more

dishwasher. Very happy with this Breville appliance and use it frequently. It is just so easy to use, just basically you hurl in the ingredients and a few hours later you have a meal. It has a nice big bowl and there is plenty of room in it to cook a roast...I have fit two big chickens in it with vegetables. The first bowl had to be returned because of hairline fractures occurring for no apparent reason but the replacement bowl is thicker so maybe this problem has been sorted out by the manufacturer.

Terrible – Tried two of this unit and each was a complete dud of a unit. Wouldn't recomend purchasing this unit. Big size. Cooking times are faster and meat dries out on low setting after about 4 hours of cooking. Warm setting also cooks food at a rapid rate.

Good – I love it, its great, so easy for mums and families on the run to use to make healthy nutritious meals. The cookbook supplied also included some nice recipes. Every home should have one in my view. Large size means that you have max flexibility in cooking for large numbers Seems to cook too high on the low setting, only needs 5-6 hours instead… Read more

of 8, I may have to get a timer as this seems to be the general opinion of other Belleville slow cooker owners!

Terrible – Great. Love it. The cooking is even and thorough with the meal ready upon arriving home from a day at work. Easy to clean and look after. Brilliant. Large capacity and removable power cord for serving on the table. The light colour is also very appealing and makes the food inside look better than in the black colour. I've had both! A little more expensive to purchase and maybe a little bulkier in size. No auto setting.
