Pinhole leaking – I enjoyed my ice-cream maker. Last I retrieved it from the freezer I noticed a pinhole with leaking material. Can I still use it? Dangerous substance? I see some else commented but no suggestions or reply from Breville. Breville consumer services not answering my emails asking what to do

Fragile Lining – Have had the icecream bowl in storage for the last 4 years; during this time we lived in a garage while we built a house. When I unpacked the bowl there was a pinhole near the rim of the bowl and a small amount of fluid emerged from it. I have never used abrasives, only soap and warm water, and while in storage it was in a dry clean storage unit. Before this I probably used it only 4 times.

Love it but – I received my Breville freeze and mix as a bonus and I love it. However the last couple of times it hasn’t churned and freezed the mixture. I realised that I hadn’t let it thaw out properly before washing. Would this have ruined it. I have only used it 4 or 5 times. Can I revive it.

Not compatible with Bakery Boss – Even though I was led to believe this would be compatible with the Bakery Boss, it isn’t. Fortunately, the shop I bought it from agreed to refund the purchase, but disappointingly, there is no Bakery Boss equivalent. Weird because at least two stores have run Bakery Boss/Freeze and Mix promotionals. I want to make ice cream with my mixer, so I’m considering returning that too!

Now to get a bigger recipe book for this – After a long time thinking about it, I purchased the icecream bowl to go with my Breville mixer. First impressions - a large exterior and small interior, with the bowl having some kind of liquid inside, which once frozen, keeps it super cold. The first recipe was the mango sorbet in the accompanying booklet - which was easy and delicious. The… Read more ·  1

scraper worked well, the sorbet obviously froze solid at the wall contact, but the rest iced up well. I found I needed to chill it - and subsequent ice cream recipes - some more before serving, but this would depend on the ambient temperature I'd guess.

Cleaning was quite easy by simply rinsing and using detergent - I read after the fact that you're supposed to let it thaw completely before washing. I didn't and the result was a small amount of rinse water froze on the interior surface - which would remain for your next batch. If you dry it immediately, you can get away with not having to thaw it completely before washing which is handy if you're doing multiple batches in a row.

The downside is the bowl's size and dimensions - it takes up a lot of freezer space and can't be easily packed into a tight space.

Passionfruit Perfect – First time using my Breville Freeze & Mix today after purchasing it 2 days ago to add to my Scraper mixer. Made Passionfruit Gelato in no time and so easy. Just now taste tested it and it is amazing and so refreshing compared to super sweet shop ice cream we normally have. Can't wait to try a berry ice cream next after some great tips from the staff at the local kitchenware store (not where I purchased it).  Show reply

Fragile lining? – Purchased this icecream bowl attachment 17 months ago, and found that it easy to make icecream. However I now notice that a pinhole has developed in the base of the inner bowl and a small amount of fluid emerges from it. I can only think that this fault is due to the fragility of the inner lining, as I have used only non-scratch spoons.

Love this attachment! – I've recently had delicious results with chocolate rum & raisin and today, limoncello. The consistency is always great, better than shop bought, and never lets you down. Always look forward to special events through the year with a new and exciting flavour, especially on Xmas Day! One of the best appliances and attachments I have ever purchased.

So easy, so yum – We make the ice cream preparation in the evening so it can chill in the fridge overnight. In the bowl it goes while breakfast is being made. It takes care of itself. It comes out like soft serve so we pop in in the freezer and its ready to eat by the the time everyone gets home in the afternoon. Once you are in the rhythm, the waiting periods for… Read more

each stages are no bother. The trick is to make sure everything is really, really cold. If you do the end result if creamy and fluffy ice cream free from preservatives and nasties. You won't get better ice cream anywhere.

Absolutely in love! – Absolutely love this bowl attachment for my mixer! I had the mixer on layby but after finding out on the breville website I could get an ice cream maker bowl for it, I went back in the next day after I layby'd, paid it off and got the bowl as well. The kids and I are loving all the yummy ice cream I'm making and the best part is, it's so much… Read more

healthier then store bought and I know exactly what's going into our tummies (all those preservatives in store bought? No thanks!). My 4yr old son loves watching the mixer turn the liquid into ice cream just like 'magic'. I've had no problems with my ice cream being too hard to eat after being in the freezer for a few days, the last lot has been in there just over a week and I can still scoop it out of the container no problems.

Average icecream but gets worse once you freeze it – Just purchased this and made the Vanilla Ice Cream and added my own pureed strawberries, tasted delicious when first made, nice and creamy and soft which I like...might try low fat next time though. Anyway from there it went downhill, after only 1 day in the freezer it is very icy and hard, does not taste as good as first made and the creaminess… Read more

has gone. I would expect this result after a couple of weeks in the freezer not one day. Not sure if I have done something wrong, will try low fat next and see if the same thing happens.

Absolutely Fabulous!!!!! – Have just used my Freeze & Mix for the first time; so easy to use. Made the basic Vanilla icecream; so creamy and so much nicer than the icecream sold at the supermarket. My husband and grandchildren absolutely loved it; the flavour and texture is fabulous. I will now be trying out different flavours and also looking for egg-less recipes as I… Read more ·  5

Excellent product – Absolutely thrilled with the Freeze and Mix. One review I read said tastes just like shop ice cream. Not true. Tastes much better. Like gourmet expensive quality ice cream. So easy to use, a great attachment for the Bem 400 stand mixer. I have used it 5 times for all different ice creams, all are delicious. Ease of use  Show 2 replies

Incredible!! Tastes exactly like shop bought! – Wow!!! I just made my first batch of Vanilla Ice-cream and the whole family is amazed!! It was SO incredibly easy to make and it froze before our eyes. Who knew that just 375ml full-cream milk, 1.25 cups of cream, 2 eggs, 1/2 cup caster sugar and 1 tspn vanilla could make so much delicious ice-cream!! After 20 minutes the thermal bowl was full… Read more

to the rim with ice-cream the consistency of a very thick soft-serve which everyone wanted to scoff immediately. I kid you not, it tasted identical to shop bought. So next time you run out of ice-cream, don't run to the store - run to the fridge and you can have ice-cream in bowls in 20 minutes. You'll feel better knowing that it is all natural with no added preservatives and smug in the knowledge that your family thinks you're a legend in the kitchen! I mean really, how many other mums (or dads) can they say just whip up a batch of soft-serve ice-cream when they've run out?? What great memories they'll have of whipping up their own concoctions! (We've just this minute decided we're going to fold some chocolate chips through the remainder of the ice-cream that is just now setting hard in the freezer).

*Heads-up, I have been watching the BEM800 bench mixer for a couple of years now waiting for it to come down in price and I have noticed that the Freeze and Mix is often included as a free bonus around Mothers' Day and Christmas time. I liked that it came as an added bonus with my BEM800CU - but hands down the best part was the amazed look on my kids' faces when they tried it - Priceless!

9/10 – Free with my mixer but fantastic bonus. Love it. Easy to use. Probably wouldnt pay the $100 for it but a great accessory. Quick and easy. Recipe says churn for 10-15 mins. I did it fr 25mins. I think that was the perfect time for it. Looking forward to experimenting with other recipes. Quick and easy

So easy to use and made perfect ice cream! – I got this as a bonus with the purchase of my Breville BEM410 scraper mixer and I could not be happier. It's as simple as allowing the bowl to freeze for about 24 hours and then popping it onto your mixer when you have the mixture ready. So easy to use and I had fantastic results making homemade strawberry ice cream was absolutely delicious! It's… Read more ·  2

great because you don't have to have a separate appliance to make your ice cream and you can see it freezing before your eyes. Easy to use

So easy - and so yummy!!! – This attachment came with my Breville Mixer and I just love it!! After placing in your freezer overnight - the bowl acts as a cooling agent when you mix your ice cream/sorbet mix!! I love it to make sorbets for my toddler - I know exactly what is going into it, and it tastes delicious!! Wonderful :D So easy  Show 2 replies
