Breville Juice & Blend BJB840

Its looks, feel and price promise high quality and long service, but the parts just dont last in my experience – The build quality is high end. probably still working fine. The blender however leaked rust color and grease flavour into the jug, and liquid onto the base unit and unfortunately it's not a serviceable part. I plan to resurrect it if I can source a new blade assembly though as It feels irresponsible creating just more appliance waste, and I certainly haven't written it off yet. It's essentially a decent bit of gear.

Blender sticks of off smoothies and juice – The blender part stinks that I make smoothies with, I think juice is somehow between the glass and bottom seal, anyone know how to pull apart for a clean? Juicer exploded, it was scary – Juicer exploded, it was scary. Since I bought it I used blender often but the juicer only maybe 10 times. Last time it exploded. The wire juice basket disappeared in hundreds of pieces. The only replacement I could find costs $106, it is not worth for using it 10 times. Not happy  Show details

Don't buy a Breville Juicer – This machine while it works and is competent in it's purpose stopped working after only six months. Now upon plugging the unit in the power point it is tripping the safety switch at the fuse. I am disappointed in this as I have always though Breville produced goods of a high standard  Show details

Short-lived happiness – I was in love with my BJB840 and used it to the max for two years. Within the first year the rubber seal came away from the blender jug which was replaced immediately by the store I purchased it from. It was so costly and I am SO upset. Apparently the motor doesn't have more than a one year warranty. I live in Delhi, India and there are no service centres here. NOT good.

Very disappointing! – We have this machine for a year and a half and it is broken. The rotating mechanism somehow rotated unevenly and because of that the top bit that makes the juice burned at the sides. we just saw sparks flying!!! strong but not great with leafy veggies as someone else said. It does smack of a quality build and comes apart fairly easily for cleaning, though fibres tend to get caught up in the sifting basket. Watch your fingers when you clean this part!!!!!!! Very sharp little half circle blades in there!

Also, food particles tend to get lost in the 'curl' of the top of the sifting basket - use a brush to get into to ensure you clean completely and for god sakes, clean everything immediately after use - if you let stuff dry in there it will quadruple the amount of time you will need to clean overall, but of course this goes for all food processors.

***UPDATE*** As another has reported - the machine developed a leak through the main rotor/spindle area. A little disappointing given the initial outlay for the machine. Happened about 2 years into ownership... what a surprise.

As a result of this I've lowered my rating from four stars to two. Surely it wouldn't have been unreasonable to expect faultless operation for ~ 5+ years. Powerful - would probably juice cement bricks. The cutting efficiency of the bladed basket has definitely lost some of its awesomeness. I highly suspect the blade sharpness reduces minutely with each use, but knives are knives. I've been wondering how much a new basket/cutter assembly might cost.... probably should do once a year IMO, but I have put many harder veggies through this machine!

Leaking mess – Blender has developed a leak through the blade/rotor spindle, which leaves a mess on the motor base and wherever you put the blender down. my opinion. Very disappointed with the lack of ownership by Breville, considering the price of this item. Who knows, the constant leak may eventually destroy the motor and then they might replace it.

used every day – Works well...looks like a clever and relatively compact design.......Easy enough to clean and assembly. ......just big enough for a couple to use on a day to day basis......need to cut vegetables into relatively small pieces otherwise starts to clunk for a few seconds. ...happy to use and drink fresh vegetable juice.... relatively compact design Nothing much

Love Love Love It!! – The blender/juicer is awesome. So easy to use. So easy to clean. It's expensive but totally worth the money. I've had cheaper blenders before that are so hard to clean. This product comes apart easily so that it can be cleaned inside and out. It makes a great, thick smoothie and delicious juices so quick! It's sturdy and safe to use.

Very efficient juicer but noisy and has started turns itself on when not in use – We have been juicing for many years and been through various low costs juicers that did the job but with average juice extraction rates, and mediocre build quality. The juice quality is excellent. However, my partner has always complained about the noise of our juicers. This one is no exception and we always joke that this BJB840 could wake both the living and the dead.

The juicing extraction rate is high. The blender is average as though the Pulse function doesn't always work great when making pastry mixtures. Perhaps I need to put more water in.

Finally , the juicer has started turning itself ON without us pressing the button ! We thought we may have a poltergeist, but whatever the reason it keeps on coming on without us pressing the button. I called Brevilla and they have logged the problem and agreed for us to have a replacement machine, so good on them. Great Customer Service Solid, robust design and looks good. High juice extraction rates 1) Very loud 2) Starting turning itself on at all times of the day 3) Average Blender

Juicy stuff – Price is not great but it is worth it considering the overall build quality and features . I have found this machine pretty easy to use and maintenance is a breeze. A good way to keep the toddler up to date with its vitamin intake without the painful process of having them eating greens everyday :) Smoothie feature is also a plus Would recommend to my friends

Great for the price – My old flatmate used to have an epic $900 juicer (I forget the name, think it was German made) that made better juice than this - but not by much! Considering I nabbed this Breville for under $450 AND it makes smoothies as well it's great value and I'm very happy with the purchase. multi-tasking, sturdy, good value

Great blend and juicer – Perfect juicer a great way to have healthy fresh juice in the morning for the kids and blend baby food great easy to clean it is a gem! Easy to clean great quick juicer/blend The detachable dishwasher-safe parts can be a bit tricky to take off, but I’ve gotten faster with practice. Cleaning can be a bit of a chore, but that is expected with this type of appliance. It was a bit pricey, but a very worthwhile investment for me and my family.

applicances, this machine gives you great flexibility and many options that revolutionise the current market. Yes they are pricey, however you really do get what you pay for. High-Grade stainles, high grade plastics and a Warrantee that you can not refuse. There are not many machines out there that can Juice and Blend. Cocktails are... Amazing! Build Quality, Quality Juice and Blender I would change the Clear (transparent) to Glass
