Overall: I bought this kettle as we have a newborn child and our old kettle would wake her up. We were desperate for a quiet kettle so we bought the Breville. So it might work well (we had it for one day) but the stupid thing is they put a bell inside of the on/ off switch. So when the quiet kettle has finished boiling an annoying bell clings. This woke my child up. When you pick it up the bell clings, when you pour water the bell clings and when you put it back down on the base the bell clings. You get my drift. Why do they make a quiet kettle that then makes more noise when just moving the kettle around. What a shame. Nowhere on the box does it make reference to this annoying feature.I wonder if Breville see the irony?
Cons: Can't find anything, I guess it was a bit in the more expensive range for electric jugs but you get what you pay for.
Overall: Fast boiling, very quiet. It has no funny taste to the water like another jug we had before it (can't remember the brand). Love this jug and will buy it again. Oh and it has a one handed refill, lid flips open to pour tap water in. Also you can extend the boiling period of the water, for babies bottles for instance, by leaving the lid up. That seems to stop the auto turn off.
Overall: It works. It's relatively quieter than my previous Morphy Richards kettle that we threw away due to calc.
It boils, it's easy to use and relatively quiet. However, it is not a whisper quiet kettle so I think people who are expecting this... probably are aiming a little high.
Pros: Very quiet, fast boiling, stylish, with a small base area so takes up less room.
Cons: A bit heavier than other kettles ive owned, even when empty
Overall: I was desperate to get a quiet boil kettle after getting totally fed up of not even being able to have a conversation in the kitchen when my old kettle was boiling, and this Breville one is really quiet. At first i had to double check id even turned the kettle on and it was working because it is so quiet for the first part of the boil.
Ive read several comments that the "Quiet" technology doesnt last long but the instructions are very specific about any scale build up affecting the noise level and the need to de-scale regularly. It also recommends emptying the kettle of water between boils to prevent scale build up.
This kettle is very stylish, it is compact, having a small base so takes up a lot less benchtop room than most kettles. It has a nice feel of quality with the soft close lid and the lid-release and on/off switches only needing gentle pressure to operate. Because of the small base size you are able to boil water for 2 cups - half the volume of my old kettle. It is also quick to boil - i tested it against my old kettle and its about 20% faster.
The only con is the weight, probably due to the "quiet boil" technology built inside, making it heavy even when empty, its over a kilo empty without the base so may be a problem for elderly/disabled people to lift when full.
Overall: I purchased this 2 years ago and it is a great kettle - but what started out as a silent kettle is now not silent at all - it loses this functionality - don't know why.
Overall: I wanted a kettle with a steel finish for my kitchen. The sales person at Harvey Norman asked me a question I found really strange at that time...Would you like a silent one? Needless to say we bought it without hesitation! And silent it is! Love the way the top smoothly opens at the touch of a button.
The daily cup of tea or coffee provides a rare moment to relax. So how can making a cuppa be as relaxing as drinking one?
Dual sided, high visibility water windows make it easy to make sure you don't heat more water than you need, while a quiet boil element reduces the size of the steam bubbles to reduce noise while heating. Also features a push button, soft opening lid to prevent hot water splattering, a 1.7 litre cordfree jug, concealed element, and a removable scale filter.
