This is the one to buy – I've had one for many years and it does the job it is intended to do. Recently old age took its toll and I bought a new one, this time a Sunbeam, which I assumed would be similar. It wasn't. The Sunbeam one is, to be honest, crap. I am binning it and getting another Breville. If you'd like to see why I say that see my Review of the Sunbeam one, also written today.

Breville Slicing Guide – Very good product. Used mine for a number of years helping to keep slices of home made bread straight and not wavy. After considerable wear, and with using an electric knife, furrows developed in the bottom of the guide. Not the product's fault. Would like to buy a new one, but they are much dearer now than when I first purchased (even taking Consumer Index into account.

Brilliant – I was given the Breville Bread Slicing Guide at least 15 years ago and has been used weekly since then. Has broken today but has given great service. I will definitely be buying another one

Cheap and Fantastic – Bought it from Harvey Norman.website had it for $16.99 in store $19.99 but got it change to $16.99. Easy to use. Love it and cheap. No more finger cuts and wonky slicing. (:

Not good – Does not accommodate a loaf made in a machine, and broke after three months of light use, and was advised by the manufacturer that it was my fault, when it was not. I cant deal with this.

slicer guide is not big enough for the loaf – I use a Breville bread maker machine and the machine makes a loaf size width about 14cms that does not fit into the Breville slicing guide. So why Breville makes a slicing guide too small for its own loaves is anyones guess! Im lucky I was able to use a friends to trial it before wasting my money. I can see if the loaf fit into the slicing guide it would probably work just fine.

Expensive for what it is – Works as it should, but the "plastic" scratches easily (with the knife), slices a bit thick for our tastes and has lots of nooks and crannies for the crumbs to hide, making it hard to clean properly. . Broke after 12 months of once a week use. Only takes bread up to 13cm wide. Folds and so stores easily Expensive and (relatively) fragile for normal use.

OK – I use if to cut banana bread because if I cut it freestyle the slices don't fit in my toaster. Would like to see an improved design regarding safety and functionality. Recommended for dextrous persons only. Handy and helpful little gadget. White. Fairly easy to clean. Saves a lot of time when slicing a lot of loaves. Stores compactly. Not too… Read more

expensive for benefits gained. It's a bit heavy. I think the mechanism is where the bulk of the weight is. It's a bit dangerous for the old fingers because it requires a lot of effort and strategically placed fingers to open and close without losing one on the way. Usually have to wait for hubby to open and close it (because his fingers are expendable). Could not imagine someone with arthritis, etc. being able to manoeuvre this. Bit annoying that you have to handwash it after every use rather than just being able to chuck it in the dishwasher. Can't remember where I'm up to when cutting slices so some sort of numbering counter would be helpful on the edge as a guide. There's a bit too much play when slicing which is caused by the large space between each rung which means uneven slices. My bread knife is not that fat. Would benefit from an insert to avoid wear on the knife surface and lacerations on the cutting surface. I made a template out of a disposable plastic plate which is easy to chuck in the dishwasher and replace when it starts to crack. This is easier on the knife and keeps the cutting surface like new so it's in better condition when you sell it. Why would you want to sell it, though?

Good – Still use it each and everytime I make bread...comes in handy especially when using both manual or electric knife..No regrets Very handy to have Sometimes hard to cut if the bread has been baked thick

Good – When making bread, you want the slices to be as good as store bought bread, this helps with the slicing. This little tool can be adjusted to most loaves, it folds up so it is neat and thin, plus it is so easy to use. I tend to use an electric knife, but you can use a normal knife too. The plastic isn't quite strong enough, I would like it a bit… Read more

stronger so it doesn't move as you cut a tough loaf. It doesn't fit some loaves that are wide in it, or if they are too high.

Good – it actually does what it says it will do - it makes cutting bread so much easier. You can pick how thick you want each slice, and away you go. folds away for easier storage, easy to wipe clean price $$$ - I thought $35.00 was a bit much to pay

Kinda handy – Works Ok with an electric knife. If your good with the electric knife you dont really need it Probably say the same thing with a hand knife I've stopped using it. good for newbies too expensive
