Excellent – This is an excellent machine that sews beautifully. It is very easy to use for a novice like myself. Being compterised evrything is a simple touch of a button. I am a novice when it comes to sewing howver after using a cheap machine for a while I purchased this machine as it was half proce at Spot Light. I can not get over the difference in sewing with such a quality machine. It is so smooth and quiet to operate and it easily sews throu thicker materials that I found that my cheaper machine just could not do. Expensive, but worth it.

I bought one of these machines a few years ago. I've had it in the 'naughty corner' for a long time. I had trouble with the needle being unable to go all the way down to catch the bobbin thread. (Ibought a new bobbin case ($49 +postage) thinking that would help, but the needle still kept hitting the case. I loved it to begin with, but what to do after spending the money on a 'State of the art sewing machine' that is useless to me?

Having posted my comment, it seems a bit harsh. The problem is, it didn't occur until after the Warranty period had ceased. Being unable yo pay the high prices that these repairs seem to attract, I kept ringing around for advice, nothing helped. so here I am, unable to use what should have been a pleasure.

Excellent – Love it ! do yourself a favour wait for the sale at spotlight I think its half yearly and buy yourself a great little treat, you will not be disappointed with this machine, I can already see that it has payed itself off. I would of spent $440 on paying for 4 pairs of jeans and a dress to be taken up and the girth covers 9 @ $40 a pop! I have lots more to do yet and I plan on making some dresses and baby clothes... big steps but loving it, Its very satisfying.. EnJOY ! I am new to sewing altogether, have not sewed since grade 10 home ec over 20 yrs ago. My memories of those days left me with a little frustration with the machines constantly going into tangles being hard to thread ect... ect... I had a new found respect for sewing and I thought the only way to enjoy it was to get a half decent machine, so I went to the spotlight sale and bought this one for half price $300. I have to say after doing hems on 4 pairs of jeans a dress and sewing 9 new girth covers (fleece) for the horses I am wrapped!! I had to buy the walking foot for thicker fabrics which was about $50 but it was worth it considering a cover alone cost $40 to buy and my material only cost $30. I love it It totally rocks!! It is super easy to use and brother seems to give great support if you need it, we had a free lesson offered by spotlight from the brother rep. Apparently they frequent often and you can book lessons as required. The machine is extremely easy to use, you press the stitch number your require and it tells you the foot you should use, instructions are very easy to follow and it is very good/easy to thread, never had a problem with it. None only if you want to talk about the price but I waited for the sale

Great for Beginners who want lots of functions! – This was my fist machine and I did buy it half price which makes it great value for money. The functions however have been fantastic and if you understand a little about your machine it will perform very nicely for you. The automatic buttonholes make life very easy. Sometimes you will have to fiddle around with needle sizes etc if working with unusual fabrics but that is the same for all machines. I have successfully sewn through plastic, felt, thick materials. Easy to use, reliable, easy to find accessories.
