Cons: Expensive on ink, Constant "Ink Low" messages are annoying,.
Overall: I purchased the Brother DCP-J315W printer 3 months ago. It is very thirsty on ink. There are constant error messages saying "Low ink" on my pc which it connects wirelessly with.
It has four ink cartridges, 3 colour 1 black. I print on average
once a week 3 pages, mostly black. Already I have had to replace 3 of the 4 ink cartridges. First the black, which was showing low on the ink monitor. I replaced the black only when the printer refused to print, it immediately told me I need to replace two of the coloured inks. I replaced both of them on the same day two weeks later. It then immediately told me I was low on the last ink colour, even though the ink monitor said it was 3/4 full. Every day, even when I have not printed anything -the ink monitor takes the colour down further on this final colour. I am going to let this happen until it won't let me print anymore like I did with the black.
This printer is thirsty and expensive on ink and the ink monitor is unreliable. The ink monitor seems to work on time elapsed rather than ink used. I have never had a fading print job - the printer will refuse to print long before that. You have to keep buying ink and have them on hand and the warnings are constant and flash up at least 5 times a day even if you haven't printed for a week.
Could not recommend.

Cons: ink cartridges too small, need to keep replacing them, expensive and time wasting
Overall: I bought this printer about 3 weeks ago. I have already used up 2 black ink cartridges. I do print a lot of material for work. But the cartridges are way too small. Much smaller than the previous 2 Brother multifunction printers I used before. This thing is a waste of money, time and effort. Poor design Brother.

Cons: couldn't print graphics on one page; didn't print the colour as depicted on the computer screen.
Overall: The Brother DCP-J315W printer was very disappointing. I will have to return it. I print a lot of coloured cards. Problems are: It prints some of the graphics on the photo paper & before it has finished picks up another piece of paper & prints the remaining graphic on that. I have tried it various times & it still ruins my print job. Also it does not print the colour that is shown on the computer screen. So I have to darken the colour of the graphic to get the real colour.
Previous to owning this printer, I had a Brother MFC 425CN, which was outstanding & worked for over 4 years. It also had the most economical ink tanks that I have ever used.
