Cons: The difficulty with setting it up. The need to purchase cables that weren't included. The poorly written instruction manual (I'm a technical writer by profession).
Overall: This printer became my own personal nightmare. I purchased it to do only b/w printing. From the minute I attempted to read the instruction manual I thought that if this is the standard of the manual then what of the printer? As soon as I inserted the CD things started to go downhill. The driver is not titled Brother Laser printer or any such logical title, it is titled Adobe 8.0. I found out later this was because it PDFs files and prints them throught that format. I wanted the printer to be cabled rather than wifi and these cables were not included in the box, but you only found this out once you got the box home and opened it. If you didn't have some spare ones you had to get in the car go back to the shop and purchase them. Fortunately I had some.

So after TWO HOURS searching the web and trying to hook this thing up I put it back in the box and next day took it back to Dick Smith and exchanged it for a Canon Pixma MP280 which took approximately seven minutes to hook up and I was printing.

I purchased both printers at Dick Smith. The only gripe I have with Dick Smith is that they only accept savings or cheque (they are part of the Woolworth group) when paying by credit card, apart from that I have always found them helpful and courteous.
