The interface cable is NOT included – I cannot comment on the printer yet as I bought it over the internet and no Interface cable was included - so after a week, still not working. How hard would it be for Brother to include one? I live rural, bought the printer so I could print, now have to go in to town and buy a sodding cable! Not happy. Don't know yet, not working. No cable to connect the Brother port to a USB port

Seems these days, printers come without cables. I was lucky, I had an old cable that fitted. But they should at least tell you when you buy it!

Fast and reliable – Got this printer - the HL-2242D from Office Works for under $130. Setup was easy, took only about 10 minutes to unbox and get it running. Print speed for single sided is very quick, it really does do 24 PPM. The duplexing can be a bit slow as it pushes paper all the way through the print path, then backs it in, rolls it over and the prints again but it is a compact unit rather than a large workgroup printer and as such the small footprint more than makes up for any slow down in print speed whilst duplexing, and hey it *does* duplex printing where so many similarly priced printers dont. I often print academic papers which can be many dozens of pages long and the print quality is good enough that I can shrink the page images down to print two to a side using a quarter of the paper to print each article. The toner lasts pretty well too. It comes with a toner cart that is used up pretty quick, but the High Capacity toners that are sold everywhere online last ages! The drum also lasts longer than expected. My printer has been through 16 high capacity toner carts at about 2800-3000 pages each before it needed its first drum replacement, and that only cost around the $40 mark. On the whole a fast and reliable printer that has relatively low operating costs if you hunt around for your toner! I really like it! Fast, reliable, cheap to run. little slow duplexing

Going well – I was initially cautious about this after two Brother inkjets and one earlier MFC laser unit.I used one of these at a client site for more than a year and it went well. Quick response and no paper jams (so far). How a printer should be. I bought one myself 2 months ago and so far so good. I will not give this a 5 yet as it is early days and prior inkjet experience left me cold. So 4/5. It works away. A little noisy on the fan for a few minutes after it has printed. The duplex is great as I find it uses less paper and this is easier to store- takes up half the room.. Low cost laser with duplex. Reasonable speed at 20 plus pages per minute (per spec).
