Brother xl 2620 – This is a great machine, easy to use and you can do a lot with it I really don't know why there are any bad reviews for it. Show details

Rubbish – Tension is a major issue even with regular fabrics. Agree with all the other reviewers about tension not adjusting no matter what setting it's on. Looping, bunching and loose stitches and no solution. Have had it for a few years and every time I bring it out (usually just to take a hem up these days) I get so frustrated I wish I'd just hand sewn the hem. Bad buy from the very beginning. Show details

Too light – This was a cheap machine which I bought as I don't sew much these days so I didn't want an expensive computerised model with the lot. This Brother machine sews ok, but with large items or with heavier fabric the machine slides across my sewing table. I then replaced it and bought a more expensive, but not the top level, Janome which I am very pleased with. Cheap, but.... not worth saving money Far too light for normal home range of uses

more tension problems – About time Brother came to the rescue and corrected the tension problems with this [my] machine. As others have said, no matter what number I put the dial on, I have loops. I am unable to sew a straight line and this is what I mainly need. I bought this machine to replace a forty year old one from Waltons - Celestial - and find myself having to… Read more

use this again. Any ideas ro tension would be great. It is lightweight. Tension, tension, tension..................

This is quite possibly the worst sewing machine I have ever owned. Tension problems? Half the time I can't get it to sew at all!

Very happy with my Brother 2620 – This Brother machine is lightweight ,easy to use ,also have a Husqvarna walking foot that fits it .I take it travelling /caravanning and use it with our generator . Have recommended it to every one and anyone that I meet. I am an avid patchworker and can honestly say I cannot manage without it. reliable, easy to use ,inexpensive and comforting.

Wish I'd spent more on a better machine – The machine was my first one so I didn't want to spend too much money on it. I've had thread tension issues from the start. No matter what the dial is set to, it still has the same problems. Even professional seamstresses that I know haven't been able to work out what the problem is. It's clunky to put into different stitches. Changing stitch… Read more

width and length seems to throw it into complete confusion and result in a total mess of a stitch line.

The bobbin feed tangles and bunches inside the machine. Lots of accessories, instructional booklet is quite comprehesive, clunky, huge issues with thread tension (see review), bobbin feed tangles, issues with stitch changes

Great machine for beginners! – I love everything about this machine, It has been so great. Its easy to use, the quick set bobbin is a dream (especially after my last machine with a case thingy that always was really hard to thread). Its great! The stitch length selector is handy too and the machine has diagrams on it to remind you where to put the thread when you are threading… Read more

it. It does everything I want it to do and heaps more that I don't even know how to do! price, bobbin and easy to use dial for the stitch selection
