Did you know Challenge Camper Trailers sell cars – I purchased a BMW e46 from Challenge Campers Trailers , it would be the worst car I've ever owned it was advertised as Immaculate ,.mechanically and cosmetically perfect etc but in reality is far from the truth ..so I wouldn't recommend doing business with that company ..thanks
Can't fault our Challenge Camper Trailer – We have had this camper 15 months and had about 10 X 1 week trips in it. It tows great with our 3L Patrol. Canvas & zips are great quality. It's pretty easy to put up and we think it looks great when it's up. It's got a cracking bed with innerspring mattress. Nice amount of space for 2 adults, but I could see it would be practicle for small… Read more
family of 4. We thought we probably paid a little too much however we can see now this thing is going to last for years so we couldn't be happier with our Challenge Camper.
Best value on the market – We bought a Challenge from Gareth in 2003 after spending about 4 years at Shows looking at the options. It served us fabulously in our first post-retirement trip up to Broome, down through WA and across the Nullarbor. We approached Gareth with a few suggested modifications and ended up trading that trailer in for a new one with the mods. The… Read more
second trailer was even better than the first, and we flogged it all over the country including from Cape Byron to Steep Point. Co-incidentally we ran into our old trailer at a servo in Katherine. The owner said that he didn't think we'd done much off road-little did he know and what a testament to the durability of the trailer.
We finally sold it after an assortment of back and knee operations started to make setting up a bit hard. We have kept in touch with Gareth who we have found to be one of the straightest and most amenable characters we have ever dealt with. I'm sorry to see that Gareth has retired from manufacturing trailers as his product was second to none. If you get a chance to get hold of a used one, snap it up. They did us well for '000s of kilometres and never let us down.
Great camper, well built and worth waiting for!! – We have a Meridian walk-in with a 2” lift and electric brakes. We tried a smaller one to see if we liked it and how my diesel Patrol would tow it. We loved it and ordered our Meridian. We chose a silver base with blue and grey canvas. The build quality is really good and we love camping with the great queen size bed and the convenience of the… Read more
kitchen with everything an easy reach away. The tropical roof helps in winter and we’ve remained toasty warm even at sub-zero temperatures. It tows really well as it’s so stable and the whole setup is well made. Only criticism is the awnings poles that don’t always stay put in wind. Poles with a clip in system would easily fix that. Thanks for a sterling camper!!
Best around – We have the walk up with 12" tent goes anywhere and tows perfectly choose our colour , wheels to suit our 4WD can't fault it and we will get many more yrs out of it
Mixed Feelings – This is my second camper but my first Challenge. I purchased a Desert Seeker from new & have camped three times in it.. what I'm really impressed with is the trailer, it's excellent, plenty of practical storage and it tows really well with good dust proofing.. the kitchen is great.. this has been a great improvement for me.. My disappointment,… Read more
however, is with the tent. Whilst the size of the tent is great & it's easy to put up, it is very prone to moisture, even in only moderate rain. it has leaked profusely in heavier rain. In comparison to my previous smaller camper the quality of the 'finish'also comes a poor 'second' in that the zips and tags are not as strong, not all windows can be accessed from the inside (impractical) & there seems to be a lot of 'play' in the frame with the canvas moving & making access to the pole holes difficult. The mattress is good value..
Excellent Product – We purchased a Meridian deluxe in 2006. We actually hired the product first to test its features out and were very impressed. The unit we hired had been in continuous use for 12 months and so was a good example of how this camper would stand up to wear and tear. We were so impressed- we bought the hire unit rather than a new one. We have used… Read more
this camper extensively over several years, both on road/caravan park camping and off road/remote camping. The canvas quality is excellent and has stood up to severe rain and wind.
A most notable feature is the amount of ventilation achievable in the tent top which is ideal in hot weather.
The kitchen can be accessed and used without setting the camper up, a feature which we have taken advantage off on numerous occasions. Dust sealing was excellent. The 12 volt wiring and plugs were of good quality. After sales service was excellent. We decided to replace the dust seals after several years, and also replaced the box housing the kitchen. Despite the years which has passed since purchase we received prompt, personal service. The only critical comment I could make is that the water tank needs a gravity dependant tap to allow the water to be accessed from it in the case of pump failure.
ADDENDUM-sold this camper a few years ago, and have recently purchased another one- a 2016 outback deluxe. Happy to report the same excellent quality, and even more great features such as fold out kitchen shelf and removable sink bowl. Gas struts to assist lifting the main frame up are a welcome addition. And there is a factory fit gravity drain to the water tank. Happy camping
Best on the market! – We recently purchased a Challenge Desert Seeker Camper Trailer, with a 14 foot tent and full annexe which we took delivery of a few months ago. After spending approximately 6 months researching different companies, models, optional extras, visiting caravan and camping shows etc. we decided that Challenge was the best on the market and where we… Read more
wanted to buy from. For the past 10 years we had always camped in a tent, so this was a big upgrade for our family. We wanted to ensure we would be happy with the end result before parting with our hard-earned cash.
Ross Wesson was absolutely fantastic. Not having used a camper trailer before, we really needed his experience and knowledge to help turn our ideas into reality. Ross was able to suggest ways that the camper could be altered to our needs, and also suggested some great ideas that have worked out even better than our original concepts. He worked within our budget and the package price included all of our wants and needs.
Other companies we investigated either had an inferior product, couldn’t alter their camper to meet our requirements, had sales people with little practical knowledge or lacked customer service. We just didn’t feel comfortable with them. Ross was always happy to answer our many questions and make adjustments if required. It never felt like too much trouble.
We have used the camper on 2 trips so far and have found it towed so easily, and also quite easy to erect/take down. Sam (wife) and our teenage daughter actually put it up by themselves in about 15 minutes, and that was only the 2nd time we used it! Other people staying in the caravan parks often comment on what a high quality camper trailer it is.
We are ecstatic with our Challenge camper trailer and highly recommend them to anyone. High quality build, excellent customer service, Australian canvas, easy to tow and erect
Excellent – If we had our time over, we would definitely buy this camper again. It has been a very worthwhile purchase for our family. We bought this camper after seeing one on display. We were so impressed with the quality of the camper and the attention to small details. The camper can be erected in a matter of minutes. We bought the extra sized tent with a room divider which is perfect for our 3 children. Nothing yet!
Excellent – We bought ours in 2006, ex-rental, only 5 months old. Good price for a nearly new unit. Even new price they are one of the best value for money on the market. Towed ours all over the Top End, Vic High Country, Outback Qld/SA and never had any issues. Can thoroughly recommend Challenge. Easy to set up, strong build, good to tow, plenty of storage,… Read more
no gimmicks. Good post sale service from Challenge (in Adelaide) too. There is not much to complain about. If I had to pick one thing, it would be that the kitchen sink is too small - but then we do our dishes in a separate bowl on a separate table anyway. Sink is handy for rinsing etc.
Excellent – We first purchased the camper trailer in Darwin 5 years ago and since then towed it all over the territory northern WA and the Gibb River Road twice. With the exception of a sone into the water tank hose which was quickly fixed the trailer has never let us down and is built like a tank from the ground up. The canvas is well stiched, pleanty of… Read more
rub points where required and the whole unit is erected in 10-15 minutes. The stove and kitchen arrangement works well we like the unclutterd arrangement under the bed to store stuff and the front storage box is big enought to get tarps, tools a 1kva generator and a fold up solar panel. Tough as old boots, simple and well made and a delight to tow. All things taht a camper trailer should be. Tough, well built, simple to tow and carries plenty of camping gear in a simple form to access and use. The stone screen at the front needs to be a little higher because of stone damage.
