More fuses to check – There is a 3rd fusebox containing about 5 or 6 fuses on the bottom of the ecu behind the left side kick panel. It's the innermost of the boxes there so you need to move some stuff to get to it. My indicators and headlights stopped working and it was one of those fuses. Also the J11 is a copy of a front wheel drive RAV4 from around 2000. A car… Read more

that wasn't imported into Australia, they were all 4wds. I believe the motor is an ISUZU (from the oil filter it uses). If you need suspension parts and you will need new wheel bearings/hubs, the originals are made of putty (it's that grinding noise coming from one or more corners), search for 2000 FWD RAV4 or your actual car but instead of J11 put TIGGO.

Loses power when driving – 2914 model automatic ran fine for 2 years apart from faulty window regulators. After that starting losing power and initially replaced fuel filter that was clogged though this did not completely fix the problem. At 60000 kms alternator was completely burnt out and $1000 to replace. Door lining comes off often and spare wheel casing falls off. Battery drained by electronic rust proofing needs charging every 3 weeks.  Show details

2011 Chery J11 SUV – 1/- In 2011 I bought a brand new Chery J11 as this was the very first NEW car that I owned. Within the first 24 months the bonnet was rusting under the triple panel on the passengers side. Was quoted by a panel beater that it would be cheaper to buy a new bonnet than to get the rust cut-out, plated, painted and treated. 2/- My Chery was a manual… Read more

so it wasn't fitted with cruise control. I drove it for 5 years. The second thing I found was that it was very heavy (thirsty) on fuel. My wife had a Ford wagon (EB) and it was more economical than the Chery. She was driving in built-up traffic and i was driving on the highway. Both vehicles had 80 ltr tanks and she was getting around 400kms/tank while i was only getting 350kms/tank. As said earlier, neither Chery nor the Ford had cruise control.

3/- When I took it off the road in 2016 I had run 40,220kms on the clock. Nice looking car (for the Price) but the manufacturer needs to address the issue of rust.

Well it just can't be Luck – Hi everybody, Its now been almost 2.5 years since we bought our 2 Chery J11 company cars, and there has only been a few minor problems, a failed day light running light, and a fuel gauge sender. I'd like to see some of the top end cars beat these fault numbers, yes these cars are truly amazing, comfortable, reliable, and economical, and more… Read more

importantly my staff are very pleased with the cars all round performance.

Happy Motoring everyone, I hope I have been of some help. JLP R/E Wynnum

Best value for money car – Very happy with this car. It is very economical, reliable and comfortable. Obviously it is not able to take on a WRX but that is not what I bought it for. Done 40,000km so far and no probs at all. Also have a Foton Tunland Ute to tow my boat and very happy with that.  Show details

Worrysome CHERY J11 40k Serv further to my previous comments. Now to finding a good Service Agency – Just had my 40k under guarantee service & timing belt done. The old timing belt seemed like brand new, but there must be a reason for its replacement. There was a delay with some parts, the driver door seals, also a wiring loom to the speedo to stop it being intermittent, there was a buzzing sound coming from the auto gearbox, that was fixed with… Read more

a replacement solenoid but all is under control. My Chery is not off the road because of these problems. Excellent under guarantee Service by the Chery authorised service depot Clintons at Cambelltown. As the original dealer went out of business with no explanation, Now just awaiting door seal. Will keep you Chery owners informed, it is amazing to research the statistics on RECALLS of other makers of vehicle's, looks like CHERY a good buy after all.

CHERY J11 RUST BUCKET !!!! – Bought one in 2013. Looks nice. Then 12 months later noticed rust under the bonnet where the glue fastens onto the frame. Replaced under warranty. Then the bottom of the front doors started to rust and after a protracted negotiations this rust repaired. Next was rust around the brake lights and more hassles with Chery to have it repaired . In… Read more

Autsralia the standard is that ALL new cars not rust in under 7 years. I met a fellow Chery owner recently and lifted the hood to see the same rust pattern and also at the bottom of the front doors.

Be wary of rust.

It's just OK - 2011 Chery J11 – I've owned this car for 4 years now (40,000 klms) & it hadn't missed a beat. EXCEPT, It's now broken down 5 times with the same fault, in the last 18 months. The 10 amp brake fuse goes and cuts out the engine computer, and that's it, you've broken down. Car refuses to start. The 1st two times I needed NRMA. The next 3, I had the fuses ready… Read more

to replace myself. I actually broken down in the Sydney M5 tunnel, but that was one that i could change the fuse myself.

NRMA had the car for 2 weeks & couldn't find the issue. The only possible fix was to rewire the whole electrical system for the brakes at a huge cost and was specifically told, a full rewire may not actually fix it as they had another same model in for the same thing for 2 months and never fixed it.

I personally didn't go for that. it's gone 1,800 klms without a brake down now.

This is an issue with this model ( Google search ). So if your after a reliable car, skip this unless your handy with fuses.

Chery – Not a bad looking car but it was too noisy. Cruise doesn't know what it's doing. Motor is way too small for the size of vehicle. Had to replace two window regulators and both led daytime running lights before it reached 50 000kms. Cheap and nasty. Ok for what they are but if you can, spend the money and buy a Japanese car.  Show details

Trouble from day one, nowhere to get wnty work done. 7 years on can't even replace parts – 7 years on I still love driving my Chery however now I can't get plastic guide clips to be able to operate my front windows and no-one can tell me why my clutch sinks when warm weather, normal in winter. Have found a nice place who have helped with some of my wnty work, but as my wnty expires in 12 days and they no longer) do wnty work for Chery I am unable to get my led headlight replaced for the second time, can't get the window relay replace and still can't do anything about the gearbox. Poor quality interior. I am contemplating going through VCAT as the product sold is not up to scratch and I have recently found out that I can't even buy a service kit of plugs, filters etc locally. Why can they sell these products then take them off our market and not give us what we paid for. VCAT advised that I need to talk to dealer, importer and oversea supplier first.

They say 2023 they'll be bringing in a new model. I want be getting another Chinese import that's for sure.

must be lucky! – I am not going to win a race with my 2014 J11, but this car is reliable, comfortable and well equiped, when considering the price. The auto transmission with the 1.6L engine does not allow the car to be quick of the mark, but with 93KW it does very well on country roads and highway.  Show details

warranty. It took a bit of time to get it fixed when it started falling off as the screw wouldn't hold it in place. Took a while to repair, due to the new dealership not wanting to take up the onus, but it was organised through Chery in Goldcoast, so overall, satisfied. Don't drive extensively except on weekends and few long drives every few months. The car has done 18k kms in 2 years. Coming to experience the rubber lining peeling off a bit which lines the front windscreen, which i suppose is a minor fix. Except for the low safety rating due to what i understand is the front not being sturdy enough, i don't see why it wouldn't make a good second car for city driving with great features.

terrible car – Bought one second hand from a dealership only a few days ago. Had heard a lot of negatives but also some positives so thought I would give it a go. DON'T DO IT, whatever you do. on it. There's no power whatsoever and the whole thing just feels and looks cheap and nasty internally. Within a day, the entire back of the drivers seat split down the middle and there's a metal pole sticking into my back as I drive, like an old camp mattress. The worst of it though is that the car feels incredibly dangerous to drive. I don't feel at all safe and it feels like a death trap. Whilst they may look OK from the outside it's not worth going through the trouble

I bought a lemon – I bought my J11 in 2011. A couple of weeks after purchase I noticed rust in several places. Dealership only offered to send to a panel beater and have it coated in fisholene. keeps coming on. I went to buy some to top it up and found there is dot 3 and dot 4 brake fluid available. Can't find in the manual which type it needs. My rear interior light only works when it wants to. The windscreen seal isn't in place properly. I can hear air coming into the car when all windows are up. The control on the steering wheel for the CD player doesn't obey commands, just does what it wants to do. I will never ever buy one of these again. The dealership doesn't care, after sales service is a joke. I will never recommend Chery to anyone. Although they are priced good, they're not worth the hassle. The old saying..... You get what you pay for.

Not happy at all!!! – I bought my J11 in 2011 and was under the impression that it came with a "6" year new car warranty. Actually the salesman's words were..."you will still be covered under warranty for anything that goes wrong with it even after you've finished paying it off!" What a load of rubbish... I was lucky for the first 3 years. No major problems at all… Read more

apart from a couple of recall things. Then 3 months into the extended warranty, the shockies went. Mind you the car had only done 33,000 km's. I was out of pocket nearly $600. The day after boxing day 2014, i broke down and the RACQ. found the battery was flat...no biggy but the car would not start even with a new one. Towed 2 days later to dealership apparently the "fuses" will blow when something goes wrong with the engine and the computer needs rebooting!!!. Now when I am driving the car clunks then the warning light comes on the dash. Apparently in the manual I need brake fluid. So when I check it, the cap crumbles in my hand! This cost me $50 to replace as I had to buy the whole bottle!!! I did not need break fluid!!! Anyone else with this problem? And has anyone else had problems with the Brake Switch Light??? Don't even know what that is but the dealership told me that it will need to be replaced as it is a common problem...My advice is to learn from my mistake and do not buy this car!!!!
