Avoid any Dell with a PLASTIC CASING like the plague, because they are an absolute rubbish laptop casing. Purchased around 2021 but have decided finally to alert others to awful Dell plastic laptops. Plastic fantastic, but not remotely fantastic. Left hand hinge ripped out of the plastic casing about 2 months out of warranty. It wouldn't have… Read more

mattered because Dell clearly know full well that this is a huge issue because guess what ISN'T included in the warranty anyway... hinges! (Check it out online, I wish I had!!) Initially tried to open the screen but at risk of completely ripping it apart. Eventually managed to open it by holding the corner very tight to prevent the entire screen de-laminating. But wouldn't you know it, right hand hinge failed in the same way after a few more months. The real kicker is that I used it infrequently with the screen open as it was attached to a TV for most of it's life for streaming with the screen closed so the hinges were hardly used. Absolute garbage casing and if I'd been a little more aware of my rights as a consumer I would have complained to ACCC even though it was out of warranty as it is completely unfit for purpose. Performance is fine but I don't push it at all, and can't use it as a laptop now so all it does is stream TV. Terrible product from a pretty cynical company. Extremely disappointing as I use a Dell Latitude for work which has been fine!

Dell Computers - don't bother – If the unit I bought is in anyway representative of Dell products, my advice is to steer clear. It was not top of the range, but for the price I expected the mouse to last longer than 3 months - it's been dodgy since new, but now appears to have given up. From new, the power supply jack has always been loose, with the cable easily dislodged resulting in flat batteries. I won't be buying a Dell again.

Very Pathetic : Dell Inspiron's Planned Post Warranty Obsolescence – Worst quality of Dell Inspiron Laptop with Inbuilt Post-Warranty Obsolescence I've bought this Dell Inspiron Laptop in Apr-2022. Initial working was fine but post warranty period there have been a series of problems (approx month of problems also mentioned) 0. Plug-in Earphone port malfunction (apparently listed as a driver issues which can… Read more

never be resolved from the day i got this laptop) 1. Breakage of laptop case of keypad side - Jun 2023 2. Camera dysfunction - Jan 2024 3. Intermittent problems with keypad - Jun 2024 Breakage of screen frame  -Jun 2024 4. Power inlet malfunction (plug not seating properly) - Aug- 2024 5. Screen blinking/Sceeen auto-off - Oct-2024

I've used Inspiron laptops right from 2001 and earlier machines were really sturdy and I've used them for 5-7 years at a stretch with a lot of travel in India and even abroad. Now these damn things are not even lasting even more than 2 years even without any travel.

I guess Dell, like other manufacturers is looking at auto obsolescence. What will the right to repair law give us when the quality of products are so fragile and pathetic that they just break apart miserably in 2 years. Whatever happened to its commitment to sustainability.

What do you suggest ? Will Dell give me a complete repair/replacement free of cost?

Bad quality poor customer service – product is poorly build, i used Dell laptops from 1997 but recent few products are very poor in quality. In addition, i think Dell customer service try to push the responsibility of the claims as much as possible. warranty, but customer support rep keeps saying it is an accidental damage. Product did not drop or abused and also no any other marks /scratches or evidence showing any accidental damage to the product but Dell keep rejecting and saying it is not covered. As an engineer this seems to me as a design flaw or poor-quality material. My next computer definitely will not be a dell. *** update As of today 05/ March 23 no response for emails 3 emails i sent to Dell . Also there is no direct email contact of Dell for any complains.

Terrible would be a understatement – Not cheap. After buying the laptop they then want about 10% pa for maintenance/ insurance etc (1 years you have a new pc). Hard drive failure-apparently an all to common failure. No dell support in many areas, you have to post & wait or take to a non dell repairer. In hindsight I would look & check reviews on others & chose from them. Like many,… Read more

dell once had a excellent name, but has sadly let that slide, got greedy & lazy. Toshiba lenovo hp are all much better & cheaper as a bonus.

Big Design problem – The computer is good for my needs specs and all in all is a good product. BUT, there is a big issue with the design, the keyboard is silver and the characters are white with a back lit that make things worst. I can't not even type because I can't see the letters in my keyboard. I still do not understand how this computer was approved to go to production. Do not but it, you won't be able to see or type. Show details

Good laptop but has some issues – Pros: This is really a good laptop. I purchased this in 2015 since then works like a charm (till date 2019). I use most of my engineering software and it does work pretty well Con: Too much Glare out of the screen. It is even worst if you are sitting outside. Show details

Solid but could be better – Pretty solid laptop. Bought it to play games and for word processing for work. Runs my games well enough, although they don't run well on the higher graphics settings (as the graphics card is only entry level). However the spacebar is not very responsive if you hit the side of it, only responds if you hit the middle or very firmly press the side, which can be frustrating for word processing. Show details

Great computer – I got this laptop for online studies and have not been disappointed. The Intel core i7 processor is a great asset and really allows quick efficient performance. Does not last- Hardware Issues- Battery, overheating, charging port – I've had this computer for less than 2 years and the battery is already screwed. Overheats quickly – Bought Dell Inspiron 3520 less than 2 weeks ago. One key does not work but Dell will send a technician to replace the keyboard so this is not an issue. laptop. Within 30 min on the first day of me using it, the fan turned on and is quite loud. The fan frequently turns on while the laptop is placed on a table and not a warm lap or warm surface. It is Winter and I wonder how the laptop will cope in Summer. The fan is placed where the lid joins the keyboard. It would have been better to place the fan at the slide of the laptop where nothing would obstruct it.

Could be better – We purchased the computer 1.5 years ago. It was delivered 2 days after ordering it. Super efficient. It has 1TB SSD. 16GB RAM. I went for bigger rather than just enough. We haven't loaded heaps of documents or photos from the previous computer on to this one, so it's not working under a big load. I like the keyboard, it has a good feel about it.… Read more

Everything about the computer has generally been good and we haven't had any of the issues that so many others have listed, thankfully. It was dropped once from a low height but survived, with only small damage around the power and usb ports, which was fixable with a little panel beating. One thing I read after purchasing it was that it was not recommended to use on your lap. It's a laptop! That's how it's going to be used! I assume this relates to cooling and possible interference with airflow, but it's a laptop! Design it to cope with how it will be used. My only big disappointment is that the battery life is pretty poor. It doesn't last a full day without being charged for a second time. I can see that it won't be too long and it will remain plugged in most of the time. Also the fan has become noisy in the last few months (just outside warranty!), which I thought may have been a build up of dust but I cleaned the fan and it made little difference. The fan comes on a lot too. Just recently, opening the screen was enough to bring the fan on, which isn't logical.

Would I buy another one? Hard to know. Reviews of other brands are not particularly enticing either however I expected DELL to be better than what a lot of people are having issues with. I have a Mac too, which I consider a better computer, I just find Windows easier to use, probably because that's what I grew up on.

REGRET purchase – Do not buy a DELL... if you want to spare yourself some heartache. My bad that I did not read the reviews (mostly one-star!) from frustrated users before I made my purchase, now I am a frustrated user myself. The laptop (Inspiron 15 5510). external mouse, then 2 months later, the screen just completely died. Out of the many laptops we have used, none has failed in such a short period of time.

But the worst is yet to come... Dell's customer no-service! They said the replacement screen and trackpad parts are not available, have been ordered and will arrive in Australia in about 10 days! Who knows how long it will take to actually get to us? I asked for a loan unit meanwhile but no, they don't provide such a service. Basically, they are not giving the user any option but to wait until they are ready to fix your problems. I told them we cannot go without the laptop for a couple of weeks but they don't care. The person whom the issue was escalated to was apparently a manager. He was rude, talked loudly on top of my voice, was sarcastic and basically had no intention to help. I don't know if this is Dell's service culture or simply a bad employee. So, we're not getting any help despite paying additional $440 for premium support. Never again a Dell for us.

Dell - Worst Shopping Experience with any Electronics Company ever – I placed an order directly with Dell to get Inspiron 15 - 5510 in November 2021 and I received it few days later. Following setting up the notepad (installing MS, moving all my 700 GB data...etc.) and using it for just a few days, the laptop power was off and Dell Technical support confirmed this is a motherboard issue. Dell first wanted to send… Read more

someone to replace the motherboard on-site which I totally rejected, and I asked for replacing the notepad.

I received the replacement Notepad on the new year eve and guess what?!! The new machine was also defected. The display has an issue where there is major pixilation whenever there is movement occurring on the screen. I connected the notebook to another monitor and the issue wasn't present on that monitor, so I became 100% sure it is the notebook's display / LCD that is defective. I wrote to Dell Technical Support (again) telling them that having two defected machines in just one month left me with NO trust in this model and elaborating on the damaging experience I had over almost two months. I, then, asked Dell to replace the defective machine with the higher specs Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 Laptop at NO cost as a reimbursement of all the sufferings I had over two months (setting up two machines, writing emails, so many hours talking to Dell teams over the phone explaining on my bad experience ). The different Dell teams show no sign of understanding and were totally ignorant of any customer support culture. They show no interest to compensate me for the damage Dell done for me. Even sending an upgraded notepad (that would cost them just few 100s of dollars) was not accepted as a fair compensation of the 100s of hours of suffering I had!!!!! Unfortunately, this is a true reflection of Dell's culture on customer complains!!!!

All I was able to get is a confirmation from dell is a refund and only after receiving their two defected notepads. Following many hours over the phone trying to convince them that this is not the right attitude, dell response was just a total ignorance to my complains justifying that they are following the sale contract t&cs. Well, what about your customer satisfaction policies???? Are you following the policy???

I have written emails between me and dell confirming all the above and happy to share with you on your request.

This is my worst experience with any electronics company, indeed.

Slow, disk at 100% ALWAYS. Most expensive mistake – Made the mistake of buying this laptop online directly from Dell. This is an Inspiron 15 - 7000 Series-7570 laptop with touch screen and Core i7 8th Gen Intel processor. We rarely use a laptop unless we need to use it once in a while and even after updating the laptop with the most recent drivers, this is the slowest computer I have ever used.… Read more

The Disk usage is always shown at 100%. A few more google search around this and I realize this is a DELL specific issue. The Support assist program is only available for 1 year after that they expect you to buy the subscription. Dells response is to ask the community instead for a fix and based on troubleshooting that's available, many have come to the conclusion that the only way to rectify this is to upgrade to an SSD instead. Very expensive mistake. Steer clear of DELL. Uses cheap Chinese components. Something as simple as booting up takes forever and even a right click on the desktop takes atleast 30 seconds for the options to display - if you are lucky. Needless to say any sort of work that is heavy on the laptop is impossible to go through. Upgraded to windows 11 in the hopes that something good may come out of it. NOPE. Will have to put in another $300 to ugrade to an SSD instead. The build quality is decent, laptop is on the heavier side but the camera quality is horrible and battery life is horrendous. Where the display shows the battery available should last 2 hours you are luck if it last 30 minutes. Nothing good to say about this laptop.

Good for general everyday use, but not a standout performance model – I bought this on sale for $1200 (inclusive of +1 year onsite warranty). under higher work loads, as it gets super hot and occasionally crashes. It seems the cooling just isn’t good enough, despite all the noise it makes. I’ve been extremely annoyed by this and lost a lot of work. I bought Dell because I thought they were more reliable than this. The battery life also isn’t great and I was tied to a power outlet most of the time when using it. I expected a little better than < 50 minutes even on light workloads. Screen brightness is either very bright or very dark. Doesn’t seem to have a middle ground, which is disappointing, and leads to more eye strain. The trackpad being aligned more to the left is a little odd, as I’m used to trackpads being in the middle. The laptop otherwise has a good keyboard layout and is comfortable to use. I like that it has an HDMI port, as I often like to plug in another monitor or use it with my TV. It also has a network port, which has been super useful when I’ve had wireless issues.

Pros: • Fast for web browsing and general use. • Easy to carry, not too heavy. • SSD, 16GB RAM and i7. • HDMI and ethernet ports. • Decent keyboard and layout.

Cons: • Bad screen brightness (either too bright or too dark). • Battery runs out quickly, even with light workloads. • Crashes suddenly when it gets too hot. • Doesn’t perform well under high workloads.

Would recommend this laptop (when on sale) if all you’re looking for is something to browse the internet on, do a bit of word processing or maybe watch a movie. Decent for non-IT based students who will have access to a wall socket. Otherwise I would say find something with a better battery life and which doesn’t run as hot.
