Cons: more than what i wanted to spend but i don't regret it and would gladly buy another.
Overall: I wanted a red kettle to replace my existing one which I was having to use a rock on the old kettle's lid to keep it down (as the mechanism was broken) and put up with it for at least 3 months whilst I searched for the one! (The Murphy Richards kettle just didn't do it for me by the way). The De'Longi Icona kettle fitted the bill with it's teapot/jug style, chrome lid & spout, sturdy handle, cordless, good size, it came in a beautiful red and the lid had no mechanism -so was one less thing that could wear out. I am 100% happy with this kettle and its quality (I have had mine for nearly 2yrs)and I really do enjoy using and seeing it in my kitchen!
Overall: A very good looking kettle, boils quickly and also keeps your water quite hot for a long period of time. I do find it a little loud, but no noisier than your normal kettle!
The handle stays cool and it sits very comfortably on the base.
Love the black look as well, very stylish and modern.
Cons: Maybe a little loud when boiling - but only in small areas.
Overall: Such a stylish and iconic kitchen must have! It does the job AND looks good. The Delonghi boils reasonably quick , is quiet and is VERY easy to keep clean. We even bought the matching 4 slice toaster just to make that extra statement. DeLonghi definitely statement items, that need to be seen as well as used.
Cons: It is difficult to difficult to see how much waster is in the kettle using the water level indicator. The lid is a bit difficult to lift off and I do find it a bit annoying to have to lift the lid off, I prefer to use a lift release button.
Overall: I love the look of this kettle though David Jones seemed to be the only store that stocked it in black. It is a bit more expensive than stainless steel kettles but I think it is worth it. I find it to be really good to pour, a lot of the kettles that I tried out in-store seemed to be awkward to use and top heavy which hurt my wrist. I like using cordless kettles. Not really quiet but is not too noisy.
Cons: Hot body, noisy, lid jard to pull, steam coming out from below the body of kettle!
Overall: For such a reputable brand and nice design, it is not practical for the following reasons:
- the body of the kettle get extremely hot when the water boiled, which does not happen with a cheaper kettle in plastic;
- the lid is very hard to pull and place it back! it spreads the water all over the place;
- it is extremely noisy;
- and there is steam coming out from the place where the on/ off button is!
Previously, I had a cheap plastic kettle I bought for 10euro and none of these problems happened!
Cons: Just over 6 months and no longer works - Bad Value
Overall: I purchased my Delonghi black kettle, with a matching toaster in May 2011. The kettle stained inside on the bottom almost immediately on using it - Melbourne water which is pretty good quality! It has been used about twice every day, with the exception of being overseas for 6 weeks, now it doesn't boil at all!! Very disappointed with this, as it has been treated with care - one middle aged user. I thought the warranty was only 6 months, but have just called customer care to be told it is 12 months. I have now taken it to the repairer as advised by cust care, but will be without a kettle between 2 - 4 weeks!

Here's a list of questions other people have asked about DéLonghi Icona
I bought the delonghi icona red kettle plus the four slice red toaster & the delonghi nespresso coffee . To my surprise the kettle has black pit marks at the bottom of the kettle & is leaking from the chrome ring around the base . Do I return it to the supplier or delonghi?
Can you fill the DeLonghi kettle via the spout or do yon have to remove the lid.
?

You can fill the kettle via the spout, but it's not ideal as you can't run the tap too fast while doing so. Some would find it a little annoying to remove the lid each time as the lid can be a little stiff. I don't find this a problem though. I really do love this kettle.
You can fill through the spout, but it takes a bit longer as there is a filter. However, this is easily removed if you wanted a fast fill. The lid clips on rather tightly, isn't hinged and comes off separately, so I generally use the spout, being rather lazy!
