DeLonghi Icona Kettle has been discontinued. See the Best Kettles.
2 Bob41  · Very difficult to see Water Level and would have to be the loudest kettle on the planet, even the water spout is bad
1 Julie  · Unhappy – Two years old and the kettle wouldn’t work after paying $99, no wonder they discontinued the product
4 Julie F  · All but perfect – Love the kettle only downside is that is is really loud. I have the blue it's absolutely gorgeous suits my kitchen perfectly

Don't buy this kettle – My husband came home with this kettle which I have hated since day 1. There are 3 major flaws 1. It noisy, if you like the sounds of a steam train in your kitchen buy it otherwise you all have to shout and or put up the TV it is so loud 2. It's not easy to tell how much water is in the kettle due to a poorly designed marker section 3. And this is… Read more

a biggy, if has a metal lid, so if you cook and ever need to boil the kettle more than on e in a row you burn your hand trying to lift the lid off. Shocking design. The 20 dollar kettle at kmart is better

Dangerous unsafe kettle – I first used it and the lid is so hard to take off. The entire kettle goes burning hot - would melt any items if resting near it. When struggled to take off lid, needing more to boil it burnt my hands in large areas I yelled in pain. This kettle has a hollow metal with no inner thermal. Not like the others that are filled up & don’t feel hot from outside. I’m returning it!

Icona kettle leaking after two years – I loved this kettle - such a great design and fab colour - until it started leaking. Just a bit, not worth worrying about. After a while the leak got to the point that I contacted the shop and as it was by then a few months out of warranty they wouldn’t help. I then contacted Delonghi who also stuck to the ‘out of warranty when you contacted us’… Read more

line. Not very impressed. Surely the point isn’t what date exactly it is reported as leaking, but that it does before 2.25years of use? Do they think it’s fine to make a kettle that leaks after a few years? Can’t fix it? Just throw it away? So environmentally unsustainable. Never had such a short-lived kettle. It’s loud but I could live with that. Very disappointed with the throw-away approach; they offered me 30% off a new kettle but if they’re all heading for landfill after two years, no thanks.

Stylish looking electric kettle; a little disappointed – Purchased this kettle as a gift for my mother to replace an old one. She is happy with the look & function of the kettle. The only issue is that the inner lip of the lid started to rust 2 months after use. The rust was all the way around the lid. The photo of the lid shows the rust after it had been scrubbed. In conclusion, a good functioning kettle with poor finishing of metal on lid. Show details

Chic looks, fragile design – We bought this in red along with a matching DeLonghi toaster as they were quite stylish but it proved be a big mistake. I'll discuss aesthetics firstly, and the good looks didn't last long before the chrome ring around the lower section began peeling off. Then the black vent on the lid simply cracked in half with one side simply falling off… Read more

exposing bare rusted metal to conveniently burn yourself on every time you try to remove the lid to refill. And that is quite an effort too. It is stubborn to take off and put back on again, as someone else referred to. The water level indicator running along the back is pointless as it never accurately displays the true volume of water leading to more hand burning as I'm left to remove the broken top to check the level.

Apart from the fact that the chrome and plastic (or is it Bakelite?) lid broke, this is one of the noisiest kettles I've ever heard, or owned. I have to turn it off to hear conversation from someone talking to me in the same room, and I have to turn the volume on the TV in the next room up to continue hearing any show I'm watching until the kettle boils and turns itself off.

I could not recommend this kettle to anyone, and I'll be staying away from DeLonghi in future. I guess that'll teach me for choosing design over function (but to be fair, I couldn't do a sound check in the store).

Reliable, quality kettle – We purchased 20 Icona kettles for our boutique hotel. We were initially concerned about this specific model after reading some bad reviews about the product, but our retailer gave us a written assurance that we would be covered if anything went wrong, so we went ahead and invested in 20 of them because the look really suited our room design and… Read more

colour scheme. We have had these kettles in the hotel rooms for over two years now and not had any problems with any of them. I am aware some people think their kettle is rusting on the inside. We thought we had that problem with our last kettle model until we realized that it was a brown discoloration of the stainless steel caused by people boiling the kettle with very little water in it. The stainless steel overheats and turns rusty brown. Our housekeepers now ensure that all the kettles have at least three cups of water in them each day and so we have not had any problems with discoloration of the stainless steel with the Icona kettle. None of them are showing any paint peeling either, so I am am not sure why one of the other reviewers experienced that. After two years of extensive use by many people, all of our kettles still look good and we get quite a few positive comments about their attractive design.

Great Kettle ! – I was in the hunt for a new kettle as our last one called it quits after 4-years. My better half wanted to pursue the DeLonghi Icona as it'd match the toaster we recently purchased, something having to do with matching appliances or something... Anyway, the DeLonghi Icona was high on the list by virtue of aesthetics although I must say I was… Read more ·  2

very concerned in pursuing after reading the reviews posted on this website. In the end we 'bit the bullet' and made a leap of faith, and design, and made the purchase.

I'm pleased to say that after 4-weeks of use the kettle has worked beautifully with no faults. The lid's removal was firm but easy, nothing like a review I read earlier. The bottom is fine and not rusting, it wasn't any noisier than our past Breville kettle, time to boil was reasonable, and I even like the narrow spout for pouring. The handle is nice and wide and comfortable to grip. I guess the only complaint, and I wouldn't rate it as a complaint... more like a comment, is that the water gauge is hard to read as it's quite slim and sits behind the handle so you've got to twist the kettle and jiggle it a bit to see the water mark. But that's it !

I'd recommend this and suggest you give it a go if you're in the market. Ours cost $99.00 and was purchased at a local Harvey Norman who price matched to JB-Hi Fi, which was out of stock.

As I told The Wife, "If it doesn't work out to our liking we can always return it."

Good luck !

Simply the best – After a number of failed attempts trying several different - cheaper - but nonetheless well known brands, such as Sunbeam, Breville, etc, which seemed to only last for a maximum of 10 months, I decided to spend a bit more, hoping that I wouldn't need to replace it for a while. Well, it's been almost 12 years now, and it still looks gorgeous and… Read more ·  1

Stay away from Delonghi – Purchased this kettle in Metallics Azure Blue. Looks great but is so noisy when boiling water. Lid is difficult to pull off and replace after filling kettle with water. Solid Kettle – Kettle has an aesthetically pleasing appearance. The lid is metal with no plastic on the inside. The water level is easy to read. The kettle boils relatively quickly, although similar to other kettles we have owned. This kettle is quite. There is a small light to indicate it is boiling but this is sufficient. The lid can be hard to remove and put… Read more

back in completely. There are some small scratches after six months of use appearing on the interface between the lid and the rim. Overall decent kettle, so far so good.

Love the colour! – Looks great. Works well.. and I make about 20 cups of tea per day, so I'm pretty tough on kettles. I've had it a few months now, and it's still going strong. Yeah, the price was a bit high, but still lower than everywhere else. Show details

Great product, beautiful design but very loud – We purchased this kettle in 2017 with matching 4 slice toaster. We loved the design and how it compliments other Delonghi appliances (coffee machine). It has served us well for nearly 4 years, however, it is very loud. Aside from that, functioned well and served its purpose: boil water and look nice in the kitchen. Show details

Do not buy this! – Kettle heats water, tastes like any other but it sounds like I've got cars backfiring in my kitchen, have to yell over it, turn the tv / radio up to hear it whilst it's boiling. Stylish, noisy, slow, rusty and dangerous – The noisiest kettle I have ever owned. Can’t hear the tv or hold a conversation. Cannot use if someone is sleeping! Takes too long to boil. RUSTY AFTER A MONTH – It has taken 2 weeks to get rid of the very tinny taste. Also 3 weeks later the inside has rusted . Taking it back to good guys today as not happy. I absolutely love the look of it and was so excited to buy it but very dissappointed! Going for a different brand. I thought $100 for a kettle was steep and it is if it rusts within the month. Show details

Wouldn’t buy a new one – Loud, very loud for a premium kettle, taste is fine. It’s slower than most, but that’s because of the 1.7l volume, which is larger than most. Had this kettle now for 5 yrs now, average 3 boils a day, but it disappointed me from the very first year for what you would be touting the looks. The chrome started peeling the first year and asked if something could be done about, the staff at the good guys said it wasn’t an issue that could be resolved. Show details

Disappointing – Was super excited to have saved up to afford a kettle that i had been wanting for quite some time. I was under the impression that DeLonghi was a good brand. Only backed by a 1 year warranty should have warned me. In 14 months I noticed the outside of the kettle rusting. Upon further inspection the inside of the kettle rusted as well. Was so shocked by this. Would not purchase another item from this brand. Show details

Worst kettle design possible – The lid is very difficult to come off or get back in. When it does come off, the residual moisture trapped in the lid gets everywhere. The water meter does not reflects the actual water level. The last bit of water would never come out without spilling everywhere. The worst is that it takes like 3 times the time to boil the same amount of water with other kettles. The worst possible kettle ever. Show details

Best kettle I’ve ever owned – This is definitely the best kettle I’ve ever owned. The pouring spout is perfect, never spills a drop, it doesn’t leak when boiling, and the water tastes great. It wasn’t cheap, but definitely worth the extra money, plus it looks great in my kitchen (I got the dark blue), doesn’t even show finger marks like most other kettles do. Highly recommend!! Show details
