Constant rattling – Do not buy this fan. This fan rattles constantly. There is no way to stop the fan from oscillating. After-sales service for this fan is limited to capital cities and returns are not accepted. I received only one response from Delonghi after several inquiries. I will not be buying a Delonghi product again.

really bad design, performance and price – i paid top dollar for this fan thinking it was going to last. last it might, but it is noisy, it clicks when oscillating, and the speed controls are wired to a dial, with setting 1 being fastest! its backwards. to get a gentle breeze i have to first turn it from "off" to "super fast", then "fast", then "still pretty fast". there is no "gentle" setting! also, i ended up taping the controller down to stop it rattling. i have since thrown it out and bought a quiet tower fan. i normally rate products fairly but this must have been my worst ever experience of a product, 1 star long life, powerful noisy, rattles, speed controller is wired incorrectly

DeLonghi VLT1000 – My son gave us the fan as a present thinking it was a top of the range home fan The low speed is far to strong and noisey. What can I do, is it possible to have a slower low speed? The appearance is good, but will remain unused in bedroom Low Speed totally unuseable. Fan will sit in bedroom unused.

Not as good as I expected – I was recommended this brand by a friend who has the same fan in the larger model. I purchased it from David Jones for $80 and was told it was quieter than other models. I wanted it to use at night time whilst sleeping. After assembling the fan and turning it on, when fixed in the stationary position it keeps making a clicking noise as if something inside the motor is trying to make it oscillate. The low speed still seems quite strong, and noisy. Sleeping with the fan on is not ideal and i've now been told that the metal bladed fans are noisier and not really suitable for bedrooms. It would be nice if they could make fans with maybe a variable (min-max) setting that enables the fan to have a more varied speed, or an extra low speed for sleeping. The temperature of the motor after running it for 10 mins was a little concerning, even though i know they are supposed to get hot, It was burning to touch. When i turned it off it stopped spinning almost instantly as if there was some sort of strain on the motor. After spending $80 i'm disappointed. The metal "Home Collection" branded fan i bought from Woolworths 5 years ago for $25 stopped working recently after a lot of use, i can't complain about that. I thought spending a bit more on a replacement was the right thing to do. I will do a bit more research next time. Looks good, solid construction, strong air flow minimum speed too strong, motor gets very hot very quickly (blades seem to stop quickly as if there is pressure on the motor or something), makes clicking noise.
