Pros: Easy to use and good graphics. great improvement in TV reception. Great for recording to hard drive.
Cons: Slight fault developed after 2 years. I have to power off and back to bring up recording panel.
Overall: An excellent product with simplicity of use and good graphics. Superior functionality to others that I have tried so far. Great value for money.
Pros: Easy to use
Can configure time manually
Record and play at the same time
Decent remote.
Eazy to read EPG
Good remote
Cons: Locks up occasionaly, requires reboot. Every 3 months or so
Overall: Mine lasted 5 years intill the Hard drive interface failed. I would buy a new one if these were still available. Compared to other units of equivelent price around today these were fantastic.
Cons: Can NOT get any sort of after sales support from anywhere.
Overall: Buyer beware!!!! The power supply is poor quality and the picture keeps freezing. Their 1300 number NEVER answers and they don't respond to emails.
Overall: Good machine, had mine for 2 years now and the remote is starting to fail, would love to get a replacement remote, other than that its great!!
Pros: PRICE!!!! ($228 at Strathfield and about $180-200 delivered from Ebay)
It's quite a bargin considering what else is around...
Having the hard disc is great... No more recording onto tapes
While recording you can pause live TV and play it when you want, or rewind then catch up!!!
Got more channels to choose from with digital like ABC2 and a 2nd SBS (I think)
Really simple to install... Tunes in for you
Cons: For the money you can't expect it to be perfect, however it seems quite well made and designed.... Only just purchased mine today.
Twin tuners would be good as you can't watch another digital channel while you're recording one - you have to watch a different channel through your VCR or TV tuner instead, but that's not a hassle and besides there aren't too many twin tuner PVRs around yet anyway.
As I've only just got it, I haven't used much of the hard drive. They do say it can store up to 30 hours of video, which is more than enough for me, as anything I want to keep I plan to copy onto tape or DVD... A bigger hard disc might be an added bonus but they seem to be much more expensive - I'd go for a twin tuner before worrying about a huge storage space.
It's only standard definition, not high definition - who cares for $200!!
Overall: Suits my application... Not more tapes and more efficient to use
