Rubbish – The heater does not work. The heater worked for 1 winter, and ever since then has only turned on momentarily to warm up for 10 seconds, and then shut off. I've had it plugged in directly to an un-used outlet turned off for about 5 days to "charge" the battery, and I've had absolutely nothing. It turned on for half an hour a few nights ago, and… Read more
since then nothing until tonight, where it turned on for a second and then straight off again. The indicator light won't turn on at all unless I whack the side of the panel hard enough for it to momentarily light up. The only thing that works is the timer display, and when on auto mode it doesn't even turn on as programmed. Absolute garbage waste of money, unfortunately, and now out of warranty. I will never be purchasing any dimplex product again, considering this was about $130-140 when purchased.
Unsafe dangerous heater with a few issues – Within 7 months of purchasing this heater it began to leak, the indicator light was faulty, small cracks, and a strange burning smell. After that the heater developed more faults. Recently I had the Power distribution crew come and have a look at what was causing power supply fault in my home. The electrical crew did an isolation test using… Read more
this Dimplex heater. Every time this heater was switched on at several different power points in the house it would usually cut off or switch off the Power Point Safety Switch outside in the meter box.
The electrical crew said that it was this heater causing a power fault in my home, it is faulty and unsafe that is why it is switching off the Safety Switch in the meter box.
I had bought two of these heaters so waste of my money and these heaters need to be thrown out.
I have also notified Consumer Affairs Victoria explaining all of the above issues. This heater needs to be recalled because it is unsafe and dangerous.
Do yourself good and stop using this heater and make a complaint to Consumer Affairs to have this heater recalled and so other people are warned of this dangerous product.

Not bad – We have had ours for about 7 years now, and it has worked well, up until we overheated it last year. Since then we have had a few issues. Won't switch on all the time, and the fan is noisy for a few minutes. It finally stopped working entirely this past week. Not to be outdone, I opened the side panel, and have traced the fault to the timer… Read more · 2
unit. It also gave me an opportunity to clean out a very dirty fan unit.
I have bypassed the timer unit and now it works perfectly again, including a quiet fan unit. (We never used the timer anyway)
Hopefully it will serve us for a few more winters.
All in all, not a bad product.
Used once, battery dead. Waste of money – I have one of these heaps of rubbish, it was only used once and put away for a couple of years as a backup in case I ran out of wood..brought it out and it.will not turn on. What idiot designs a heater that will not turn on because it has a flat battery and has to be recharged every 6 months if not used. I could not believe you had to charge it… Read more
for 3 days and even after that it doesn't work, obviously the battery is completely dead..so because it's out of warranty I have no other option other than tossing it ...what an absolute waste of money. Dimplex should be ashamed to put their name to these heaters as it appears there are a lot of people with the same problem judging by the comments on here. My mother has one that is 40 years old and still working, mine worked once and that was it.

The heater that ticked all the boxes for me – I was on the market for a new oil heater for my kid's bedroom. I was also thinking of safety and efficiency. As it turned out later this heater would be absolutely great and efficient. It heats up quickly and has auto shut off function to keep your bills under control. I like the quite heat and the general feeling of comfort that you can only get with an oil heater. Show details
GOOOOD! – Very good value for money heater. Quiet heater and fast heating. Beats other heater ive had. Bought 2 of these! one after the first. My other heaters were making "cluck" sounds so not suitable for me to use in the bedroom as i'm a light sleeper. this one's fine. It has a fan blowing kind of white noise and is pretty quiet overall. OFC2400TIF Series 3 Made in China product DANGEROUS!!!!!! – The first year of operation, the product was working effectively, but then after the first winter use the fan stopped working. wasn't even 6 months old and the fan bearing was making sounds. Obviously the fan bearing was a cheaper one for Dimplex to use. Bad call. The second winter (August 2017) a funny sweet chemical smell or basically a acetone… Read more
smell was coming from the unit after weeks of inspection in the house to identify the cause. I found the smell coming from the top vents in the control box.
I recommend no-one uses this product model number as I have also noticed it is discontinued.
Sad to see a company sell itself out and drop product safety in the design and manufacture, just to make a profit.
Of course the 2 year warranty has run out.
Dimplex, never will I buy your pathetic dangerous cheaply constructed products so you can grab profits over safety. Thanks to your stupid heater, I was smelling acetone from the internal circuit board overheating and my wife and I have had headaches for weeks. Upon googling the acetone smell in my house, I was nearly about to have 5 ac units tested etc.
Think of safety! – When we were shopping for a heater for our baby room, and being new parents we had no idea. So after a few website reviews as well as asking around we figured we didn't want anything that required us to fill up the heater with oil. We ended up purchasing this and love it. It could heat up a larger room fairly quickly so for our baby room it could… Read more
easily do the job within 5-10minutes. No need to turn it too early and conserve some power. The temperature dial is very dependable, i.e. if you adjust it slightly you do not get major increase/decrease of temperature.
Good Guys Essendon selling crap oil-filled electric heaters ...give me a wood stove or just a lot of – My family and I have have chucked out 4 oil heaters purchased from Good Guys Essendon in the past 4 years...am sick of oil filled heaters from Good Guys Essendon going belly up just outside warranty period both Dimplex and Delongii. Never EVER buy from Bad Guys Essendon....totally disgruntled with the crap products you guys are selling nowadays..NO MORE !!! Show details
Cannot live without it!! – This is so useful for my life!! You know because the weather of Melbourne is so changable, and it will always become chilling out of expectation. So buying a heater is definitely a good choice. You can use it anytime, anywhere at your home without wasting energy for warming an entire house. Show details
Average heater – I have decided to buy a more expensive oil heater after trying trough the years some cheaper model, thinking to have better result. No way. This heater costed triple the price of a plain Target one and never been so good. Now after three years of bittersweet use (the fan quite noisy, thermostat click really loud in the silence of the night,… Read more
very slow in heating a medium size bedroom) the thing stopped working.
After internal examination the faulty part was found to be a manual reset fuse, a fuse that is normally closed, it opens when temperature is reached and reclose when temperature goes down. It's a very cheap part but without that the heater does not work.
I have contacted Dimplex asking where to find the spare part and keep using a fairly new heater.
This is the answer I had via email from Danielle Dawson I Technical Administrator:
"Please note that the Dimplex range of electrical product are sold with a 24 month replacement only warranty in Australia.
Due in part to this fact, no spare parts or after sales service is offered on these appliances outside this period as it is deemed uneconomical to do so.
Unfortunately, as we do not have authorised service agent to refer to, should your appliance be outside of this period, we would request that our customers locate a local small electrical goods repairer for further assistance. This is in the hope that there may be generic parts that can be used to correct the issue being experienced.
Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience caused."
So Dimplex does not offer any kind of service on its appliances, that also makes the need of a Technical Administrator kinda funny.
I don't reccomend anyone to buy a Dimplex product, with short warranties, no service offered and that advice to use a "local small electrical goods repairer " for help. So if something goes wrong in the repair, faulty heaters are potentially dangerous items in a bedroom, they're not even responsible.
No good, and I will not buy Diplex ever again.
VERY DANGEROUS – Put the heater in my two year olds room to keep him warm. As I walked past the room it smelt of burning oil, when I checked there was a toxic smell and oil leaking out of the unit ! luckily I had not put my son to bed and had checked the room . I shudder to think of the worst case scenario . The unit is only into its third winter and not used… Read more
that much .
seems to me to be cheaply constructed , I bought the unit thinking it would be reliable and safe .I will never buy a Dimplex product again.

Reliable Oil Heater – I bought this heater on Ebay in 2016 from Napf Electronics. Was a wonderful addition while working at home for some weeks keeping my small house (well insulated) quite warm. I did have it on most of the time, but it does include a timer for those not home during the day. Safe for animals which I have. Show details · 1
Find out how Dimplex OFC2400TI/TIF compares to other Electric Heaters
Know better, choose better.
Hopeless – I inherited this heater after my Mum passed away, so didn't see the instructions or receipt. I am told it cost more than $100. It worked ok until I draped my pyjamas on it and then stopped completely. I didn't cover the vent holes but I guess I must have overheated it. Now it won't work at all. I can't return it as I haven't got the receipt. I've… Read more
warmed clothes on oil heaters before without any problems. It seems like a major flaw that this product is so susceptible to breakage due to a fairly common practice with oil heaters. NOT recommended.
Good idea poorly implemented. It does the job – We bought our OFC2400TIF a couple of weeks ago to heat up our 36sqm, 2.7m high lounge. It is a brick unit, single glazed, timber floor, and in Australian standards it is well insulated (no draught, no gaping space under the door, no rattling window frames etc.). The critical features that made us buy it were its wattage given the size of the… Read more
space it has to heat, and, equally important, its automatic on-off feature with rich timer programming options. It was also important its quiet operation (no fan given it's an oil heater), but the option of blowing air is there if needed - a bonus.
From a features perspective, it is an awesome product.
It does a pretty good job: for weekdays, we programmed it to turn on at 5am so we don't freeze when we get out of bed at 6am. It turns off at 8am when we leave for work. Then again it turns on at 3pm so that when the kid gets home from the kindy we don't have to put on his sky jacket. It has a different schedule for weekends. It works well, and that's all we expect from it.
It needs however some improvements:
- The unit is crooked: it is bent around a virtual vertical center line. It doesn't affect functionality, but it looks weird. It makes me wonder, though, in time, due to less than perfect fit or shape of the elements, it "may" result in oil leak.
- The castors are stiff. Although we have a timber floor and it should roll effortlessly, it skids and scratches the floor.
- The LCD panel is very small. It has elements no larger than 1sqmm. It makes it extremely difficult to program it, unless you have an eagle's eyes. If you buy this unit, then get a magnifying glass too.
- The LCD panel is not backlit. It is extremely difficult to program it in low-light conditions. If you buy this unit, then also get a torch.
- During its 3-4 weeks since we put it into service, it lost its programming twice. Was it a short blackout? I don't know. It would be handy to have a built-in backup rechargeable battery.
Otherwise it is a good unit, it does the job. I recommend it as long as you can put up with the above shortcomings.
Its a heater& it works! – Not much to say here except we purchased 2 of these for home. They were purchased some time just before winter 2011, have not failed & are really good if anyone suffers from eczema. Toddlers need to be watched as the heater will get warm, so little fingers might get a surprise, but they are by no means a danger to them. No fuss heat & its safe. nothing
Excellent for heating single rooms – We bought two of these heaters, one to heat up our small living room and the other for a bedroom. We actually had to set the bedroom heater on the lowest setting as it got too warm. And if we were using the kitchen/dining space we could usually get away with a single heater. Didn't excessively increase our electricity costs either. Inexpensive, effective Need multiple for larger, open spaces
Useless – Absolutely useless. I write this as I am wrapped in 2 mohair blankets not 2 metres from the heater after it has been on in our living room all day (it's now just after 7pm). Maybe it would be ok in a tiny bedroom, but for a small open plan living area it has been a complete waste of our money and we find ourselves looking for another heater. While… Read more
the bars themselves feel hot, I can't feel the heat from it when I move my hand 30 cm from the heater. We have left the heater on all day today while out, and on arriving home you can barely tell. "Turbo" fan really is quite the overstatement too. Oh, and the timer is impossible to work out.
Does not warm room.
